Characters: Yukiteru and YOU
Setting: Room 2-20 & Cafeteria
Format: Prose initially, but I'll match!
Summary: Yukki arrives the morning after the 'happy end.' He's not taking it well.
Warnings: A kid dangerously close to going into shock after all he's been through;; also spoilers for Mirai Nikki.
Room 2-20:
The poor kid is obviously freezing. It's quite a jump from a moderate climate like Japan in mid-summer to the frigid temperatures like this; combine that with the fact that he's here at all, and everything that had happened just before arriving here, and it's a miracle he hasn't completely gone into shock yet. Operative word here: yet.
He's seated on his bed, the blankets wrapped tightly around himself, including a bright blue blanket that looked as if it had seen a lot of wear and tear over the years. There's an open cellphone on his lap, plugged into a nearby wall, and he's been staring at it intently since he arrived here.
UNKNOWN DATE, 12:19 PM :: A NEW LIFE BEGINS IN THE TOWER.
There is no entry after this. He's never had that problem before, and it really doesn't help his state of mind right now. And 'unknown date?'
... Yes. Of course. They failed. He and Yuno both did. It's the only conclusion, and it perfectly explains what he read in those letters. The world was destroyed, time and space torn asunder by what Deus warned them about. The Survival Game was over, and nobody won. It was true, then... Yuno did love him, despite her attempts to persuade both of them otherwise. She couldn't kill him any more than he could kill her. And he couldn't have thought of a worse way to confirm what he already knew than this.
Yukiteru falls sideway onto his bed, wrapping the blankets tigher around himself. It's hard to tell if the shaking is caused by stress, or just shivering.
Cafeteria
Yukki has been sitting there for a while, staring at the oatmeal. He's tried to make it a bit better; but he can't eat it. He hasn't touched it, and it isn't from the fact that he knows it's going to taste bad. He just has no appetite right now, and he hasn't for 24 hours now, from the time he woke up in his own world, to when he woke up here, knowing what was going to happen that day. This could have been a five-star steak and he still wouldn't have wanted to eat it. Especially not in this temperature.
It's clear to anyone who sees him he's upset, and hasn't taken to the Tower well at all. Especially since he hasn't seen hide nor hair of Yuno since arriving here, and if he's here for the reason he thinks he is, then surely she has to be, as well. After all, isn't it both of their faults their universe was destroyed? Through their inaction?
He doesn't want to think about it, but he can't help it. The Survival Game has now officially taken everything from him, including, as it would appear, Yuno. He had nothing left to lose. And as it would appear, nothing to gain, either.
He closes his eyes, and looks down, fighting back tears.

Cafeteria
She's already eaten the oatmeal. It was a gross texture, but Satou's taste buds are so horribly screwed up that she couldn't taste it. At least she has sympathy based on the implications of oatmeal: that this boy is new. Like her. Making feeling as she did a few hours ago. It's impossible for an obnoxiously loving person like Satou to just leave him alone.
So she approaches, standing off to the side of his chair and a little bit behind him. Honestly trying not to startle him. ]
You really should eat it. [ Satou reaches out to gently tap his back, in case he's too depressed to hear her voice. ] It'll be okay.
no subject
Right. Right. She isn't here. Calm down, Yukki---teru. Right... that nickname doesn't matter anymore. It's okay, now. There's... no need to protect anyone. Not her, not Yuno... not even himself. ]
... I'm not hungry.
[ He answers quietly, wrapping his clothing tighter around himself. His constant shaking is a mix between his nerves being totally shot, and the sheer cold.
It'll be okay... how many times has he heard that now? It never is. It never was before, and it certainly won't be now. ]

[ She scolds softly, taking on the mannerisms she would use for Mikale. That's who he reminds her of, anyway. The shy and under-confident boy she's missing so badly right now.
Satou puts her hands on her knees, lowering her eyes to his level (which isn't hard, as she is already kind of short), and trying again. Taking a different approach. ] I'm Satou. I'm new here. Are you too?
no subject
[ Because he's seriously had enough of fighting for at least two (three?) lifetimes. All those people who died because of him and Yuno... and now they had died for nothing. They had failed. And now their combined bodycount was essentially six billion. The entire human population of earth. Nice. ]
... I'm Yukiteru. And... yeah, I am.

He was wrapped in Gyousou's cloak tightly taking all the warmth he could from it. The other boy looked cold too, or maybe he was scared... Maybe Taiki should leave...
"Um... sorry... are you okay?"

UNKNOWN DATE: 12:31 PM: TAIKI ENTERS OUR ROOM.
Taiki, huh... who cares. Even if that's just one more entry in addition to the one he already had. But he wasn't too excited about the prospect of roommates, even if this kid seemed nice enough.
"It's not me I'm worried about," he manages to choke out after that, rolling over onto his side to look away from him. It's clear he's in no mood to talk, but it's not like he has any means to make him leave.
no subject
He felt instantly bad when the boy rolled away from him, he made his way to his own bed and sat silently, he wasn't going to push the boy to talk... that would be rude and he didn't want to annoy his new roommate.
He would leave... but his room was one of the rare places that was safe, safe from monsters and things to hurt him, and safe from blood though that wasn't always the case. He could go and find Lord Gyousou but he didn't want to be an annoyance to him either...
He thought for a moment but surely if he was quiet and didn't disturb the boy he wouldn't mind him being in here... Taiki crawled to the end of his bed and pulled out his sketchpad and paints.
no subject
He shuts his eyes, trying not to think about it. And especially not about Yuno. Just as he was attempting to at least try to get some sleep, he hears the sound of paper. Perhaps out of curiosity, or perhaps simply because he knows he won't be getting any sleep any time soon, he rolls over onto his side, and notices Taiki... painting.
He doesn't say anything, but he watches quietly. If only because he's trying to get his mind on something - anything - else.

well this is the most emotionally competant room in the tower...
Cafeteria
"Hey, are you alright? What's wrong?"
Cafeteria
"... I'm fine." Obviously a lie, and a thinly veiled way of saying 'I don't want to talk about it.' As if it shouldn't be obvious, anyway.
Yukiteru hasn't even considered the possibility that these people aren't from the same world as him.
Cafeteria
"..If you're worried about your universe being destroyed, you shouldn't! There are a few people here would wouldn't be able to exist if their universes were destroyed, and the people who run this Tower tend to lie sometimes, so you don't have to worry about that! Your universe is probably just fine, if that was what you were worried about. If it wasn't, you can tell me what's bothering you. I may be a simple book girl, but I may be able to help."
no subject
And did he mention it was partially his fault? At least as much as it was Yuno's, and probably more? No. He didn't. Because he really doesn't want to think about it... or her. "Nobody can help... nobody except me, and now, I can't either."

She really didn't know him. Good God, Akise really was telling the truth about this whole 'parallel timeline' thing. Either that or Tsubaki just has a really, really convincing prosthetic hand. And a way to resurrect herself. ]
You... really don't know me?
[ If the Survival Game is still going on in this hellhole of a Tower, he just let his guard down in a big way. He takes a few steps forward, which, to the best of his memory, was close enough for her to actually see him. And also attack him, if she so chose. ]

"I know..." It's all he offers, his voice soft. Normally, he might stay quiet and wait for the other to take the silent offer of someone to talk to, but this wasn't an ambiguous situation at all, at least not to his mind.

From now on, he's transcribing posts Ruana makes. She's the only one that's ever gotten rid of one of those.
"I was on a mission to save the two worlds I call home from danger, as ironic as that is." The latter world had been a self-imposed mission, but it didn't matter. It was something he had been trying to work for.

cafeteria -- I hope you don't mind a late tag in?
"How long are ya gotta sit there moping?" She asked, again in an irritated tone that suggested that someone like her shouldn't have to worry about some stranger, before pulling up a seat. Nutrition bar still in hand, she gestured to the oatmeal, then took another bite. "That'll taste even worse once it gets cold, y'know."
Not at all! ♥
Yukki blinked a few times, staring at the girl, only to look back down. "My world was destroyed. I'm sorry if that upset me."
He looks down at the mostly-empty bowl of oatmeal, fighting the urge to throw it up. If he wasn't so used to having to have a strong stomach at this point, he'd already have passed out.

She liked to tell herself that it didn't matter either way, not with her and Sayaka both dead, but nonetheless there remained a strand of hope for those who might have been left behind.
