Floor 27 (locked to Hojo)

There was no warning when Rei Ayanami's body changed. The girl didn't even have time to gasp before her mind and her body finally gave out before the overwhelming energy of her core.

Her body collapses into a white, constantly shifting mass. The only thing it has in common with her form seconds ago is its mouth filled with jagged teeth and the thousands of eyes that litter whatever shape it takes. Sometimes it has wings, other times arms and legs spouting at strange angles, and other times spines and tentacles. Once, the center of the mass even turns into Rei's normal eyes and face. No matter how it shifts, the glow of its core shines from within its body. It is too bright. It seems to be something that might explode any second.

Heeee~ey. Brothers? Where are you?

The gaping maw sings in a language unfamiliar to the ears, but all too comprehensible to the mind

Come back. Come stay with me. Let us all be one.

It reaches out, trying to find its brethren. At the same time, it is listening for anyone to possibly respond to its message.

Throughout the Tower

The thing that once was Rei creeps through the tower, sometimes walking on strange limbs, other times shuffling forward because it can't hold a form. Those in the area may feel the heat radiating from its body. Every few "steps," it stops, as if it has thought of something or entered a familiar place.

Those are the only moments that "Rei" can actually think. But what remains of the girl's mind has too many questions and too few answers. What is she now. Where is she. What is she doing. And even that moment is all too brief before the Angel's songs fill her mind again, leaving her with only on urge.

She has to take her brothers back. Back to the womb of their Mother. All of humanity must be one existence again. Even if she must destroy their bodies, she will take them back.

When she encounters a human, her body will shift and lash out. If they are unfortunate enough to get too close, she will devour them with her jaws or envelop them with the ever-changing mass of her body. But her core glows. It is like what remains of Rei is giving those who would resist a chance to stop her.

[OOC: Jade!Eridan will be the one to finally kill Rei]

In response, he is flooded with images again, this time of all who Rei has met in the tower. All of them laughing and holding hands.

chaos took in those images and sighed. So, these were the people who she wanted to live in peace in her artificial collective. It was a nice dream..but one that wouldn't work.

'Why do you want to become the collective? You can laugh and play with your friends even if you are not. All you have to do is discard the form you currently hold and go back to your old one.'

Because that happiness will be brief.

Just like how coming to this Tower had cut short her time with her friends still at home.

'Even if the friends you have now will eventually fade away, you shall always find new ones and new things to make you happy. The emotion won't be lost for long.'

Friends and family, all becoming one in one instant. This is true happiness.

'Becoming one will only confuse and hurt them deeply. Not even my universe does that. Small parts become part of the whole, but they never mix and become one.'

How do you know?

She has spent too long talking. Her objective must be fulfilled.

This time, it's not tentacles, but two gigantic hands aiming to clap him.

'I know many things about my universe. I am in a position to know. That is all I can tell you.'

Once again, chaos moved his hand in a circular motion. If it worked, those hands would face two fiery explosions.

More explosions, but the ragged remains of the hands still reach form him.

Once again, chaos took up a pair of wings, flew backwards, and unleashed a rain of energy beams onto the hands.

The hands finally do retract after that have been more or less blown to bits. What next extends is a long, flat tentacle that lashes out at him. If he is not careful, it might give him a few nasty cuts.

Sadly, the tentacle was too fast for chaos to dodge. It cut into his side, and he quickly used his powers to smack the tentacle with his arm, which also gave out a small wave of electricity. If it all worked well, the tentacle would be cut off.

The tentacle snaps off, the remains melting into white material that trickles back into the main body. Another tentacle lashes out at him, this time at his uninjured side.

Thankfully, chaos was more prepared for this tentacle, and managed to fly back down to the ground before it hit him. His wings vanished instantly.

'Why are you attacking me?'

Because you resist. Even after such a long time, you resist.

'I am sorry. However, I have no intention of being eaten and put in a false collective. If you cannot get me, then maybe you should stop. Revert to your old form.'

My will cannot be stopped. I will send my scourge, I will send my sword.

The tentacle continues slicing at him.

I will injure and kill, but then I will heal and give life. I give them a blessing so they need not die twice-over.

The tentacle at his side..that hurt. chaos winced and cut it out before using his powers to stop the bleeding a little bit. He wasn't human..but he still did things like that out of habit sometimes.

'You cannot revive the dead. I am sad to say it, but you do not have that power.'

Watch, and believe.

The tentacle slashing at him a moment earlier and shifts, now resembling a head on a stalk. It looks very much like one of her victims. That face is frozen in the same look of shock and horror as it had when it first died.

This child lives inside me.

Even though the head was frightening, chaos had seen worse things in his lifetime. He wasn't scared of that.

'Then make her live outside of you.'

The tentacle detaches from Rei's body and forms an almost exact facsimile of her victim. It takes three steps toward chaos and then falls. As it lies there, it collapses back into the same material as the rest of Rei's body.

'You see? Not even you can bring them back to life. You may be able to take on their forms after killing them, but that's it. You cannot resurrect them.'

This child does not wish to be parted from everyone else. You know know if you joined us.

'And how do you know what she wants? Perhaps you are mistaken. And I cannot join you. I do not intend to join your false collective. My role in the universe has yet to be played out.'

Even though it was a role he hated. A role he wished never went fulfilled.

I know because I know.

The remaining material on the ground forms itself into spikes. They shoot at him.
