The Book Girl and The Egg.

Characters: Tohko Amano and Wretched Egg for the first part and anyone else for the second!
Setting: The third floor and then the infirmary.
Format: Either prose or action!
Summary: Tohko meets Wretched Egg and finds out that Shiro isn't all that she seems. She then tries to find out what's wrong with her in the infirmary.
Warnings: Violence, since this will involve Wretched Egg.

Despite the chill and how poorly she felt, Tohko was still going about her library duties, sneezing over her shoulder occasionally and almost tripping over small corners. While she never made a mistake in cleaning, today she was making a few, as she sometimes put a book in the wrong spot. After she did this for the third time, she sighed.

"I really need to visit the clinic after this.."

Tohko, having found that the drones weren't much help in giving her medical advice, was looking over some of the pills, trying to decide which ones were the best to take. Tylenol? Advil? Or some of the other, weird and unusual bottles? Normally, she would have just stuck with the cold medicine on the shelf, but she was feeling so out of it that she was starting to consider other options.

"No, he doesn't. He looks to be about..thirty, maybe."

Tohko sighed at that. "I don't hold prejudice against you..it's just that when a character in a books says they're just asking questions because they're curious, something there's more reasons for the question rather than being just curious."

"Oh. So you're looking for a surrogate father or something? Well as long as it's not really your father, I guess it's fine." Because of course, Wretched Egg had to imply there was something devious and kinky about Tohko's love.

She chuckled. "Ksha~ But books aren't real life, you know~ You're a big girl now. You should be able to understand that~"

Way to make Tohko even more flustered, Wretched Egg. "No, I'm not! There's no way I see Enoch as a surrogate father or parental figure. I don't see anyone here in that sort of light."

After all, her parents were pretty important to her. She couldn't just push someone else into their spots in her heart.

Tohko then sighed, getting even more annoyed.

"They may not be exactly the same, but books can show you different aspects and parts of reality that you would never be able to experience otherwise, and they can help you with odd situations! So, it's not a bad idea to turn to them when you're stuck!"

Wretched Egg laughed at her vehement reaction. She enjoyed getting that kind of reaction from people. Making them angry or upset. "The little book girl protests an awful lot. And Enoch might be disappointed if he saw you protest that much about it~"

"I suppose it makes weak people feel better to think that way~"

[tohko_amano]

Tohko sighed at that.

"I'm a little bit taller than you, so I'm not little. And I don't see why he would be..after all, our interactions haven't really been like a father-daughter relationship at all, at least, as far as I see them.

And I won't deny that I am a little weak. However, books can do that for everyone, whether you're weak or strong."

"Come on~ It's affectionate~ As in not to be taken literally, you know~"

Wretched Egg hummed absentmindedly. "Or so weak people say~. You should find yourself a better weapon."

Tohko sighed at that.

"I was just wondering how affectionate you were actually being with that line."

Tohko looked at her daggers once Wretched Egg pointed out that she might need better weapons. "How come? 'Peter' and 'Wendy' have been working out quite well. And I've been training for quite awhile!"

"Peter and Wendy? The ones who wanted to be kids forever? How cute~"

And she just laughed at that, not impressed in the slightest by the daggers.

As Wretched Egg laughed, Tohko sighed.

"You haven't read that story in awhile, have you? In the end, Wendy, John, Michael, and the other Lost Boys go home and grow up, leaving Peter Pan behind. Wendy eventually grows up, as there are a lot of advantages as well as disadvantages to growing."

"What can I say? I tend to have a hard time remembering all those dumb stories with morals~"

[tohko_amano]

"How is Peter Pan foolish? And the story doesn't shove it's lessons in your face! It leaves you to think about them and come to your own conclusions, like any good story!"

[taintedwhite]

"Tinker Bell and her pixie dust~ Liiiies. All lies. All the lost kids should die and the pirate should rule. That's how it goes in real life~"

[tohko_amano]

"I don't think that's how it works in real life! Sure, some of the Lost Boys died, but the majority of them lived! Besides, that would make a terrible story!"

[taintedwhite]

"That because you're way too innocent~ You say terrible and I say realistic and interesting."

[tohko_amano]

"How is that realistic or interesting? If that ending were to happen, there would be nothing more for the Indians and the Pirates to do! Neverland would get complacent!"

[taintedwhite]

"Or they would fight each other until one of the groups is totally and utterly exterminated~ Or until Neverland is destroyed."

[tohko_amano]

"But that would be out of character for them. The pirates were only sticking around to catch Peter, and they weren't really interested in killing all of the Indians. And Neverland can't be destroyed. That's the point."

[taintedwhite]

"Then the pirates would leave and find another place to plunder and destroy~ Same difference. And there's no place that can't be destroyed~ Only people not powerful enough to destroy it."

[tohko_amano]

"Actually..in the end, most of the pirates died. And Neverland can't be destroyed, no matter how strong you are. It's the place where all childhood dreams and escapes lie. It's impossible to destroy that without first destroying childhood itself, and there's no way you can do that."

[taintedwhite]

"You're sure of that~?"

[tohko_amano]

"Of course!"

[taintedwhite]

"As I said. Way too innocent~ But innocence, just like childhood, can be destroyed."

[tohko_amano]

"Childhood can't be destroyed. Most people leave it behind as they get older, but as long as there are children, it will continue to exist."

[taintedwhite]

"Not if adults never let them have one~"

[tohko_amano]

"Adults have nothing to do with it. Even if they try to snuff it out, they won't succeed. Kids are pretty tough, much moreso than anyone gives them credit for."
