Characters: Shiki (Tohno), Shiki (Nanaya) and anyone else!
Setting: Floor 4 hallway
Format: Either's fine!
Summary: It's never too big a disaster to take a short murder break.
Warnings: Violence. Just... Yeah.
[A blur, black in the sparse lighting, impedes passage into one of the hallways. Retreating into a nearby wall, he looks at his prey with eyes not yet satiated. This isn't enough... but it's a hell of a lot more than he thought he'd get. It's not in Nanaya's nature to retreat, of course. This isn't a measure of cowardice, but simply a way to maximize his pleasure. Having Shiki actually fight back is an occasion to be savored.]
Scary. You really have been through the wringer, haven't you, Shiki?
[A rhetorical question, of course. Nanaya knows everything his counterpart has experienced. At least up until the moment he arrived at the tower. To have a place filled with so many people willing to lunge at you - grant the signature that nullifies that bothersome social contract the murderer's never cared for... It's more than he could ever ask for.]
Don't tell me you're not having fun.
[There's a grunt from the other male as he threw his left hand up, the knife parrying the blow from what seemed to be his twin in a first glance; considering his worsening cold and the strange flashes of seeing the lines of death even with his glasses on was starting to wear him down.]
Damn it, I don't really have the time for this!
[Of all things for this tower to bring in addition to his future self, it had to be this guy from all the mess he just went through earlier that month. As if having to deal with a crazy refugee spot for a tower wasn't enough already...!]
Why not? After all, this could be another fever dream of yours. Could you really call it the first time?
[The question sounds manic, mocking, but that could very well be attributed to the nearly-invisible flurry of attacks Nanaya's dealing. The fact that Shiki has survived this long says something about his training. He could get stronger in time, but Nanaya's not one for patience. The brief interlude by which he says this is interrupted by him appearing behind Shiki, almost before the mental afterimage he may have from believing he's there is gone in the first place. A slice at the neck.]
If so, why turn this into a nightmare? Sleeping's for resting, isn't it?
[Several of the blows punched through, tearing at his clothes and skin as he was completely pushed back. Seeing that Shiki Tohno was fighting to protect himself rather than to kill the one in front of him, it was pretty clear when he was taken by surprise when he reached out with his left hand, aiming to deal a stab to push his look-a-like away, only to feel the rush of the wind as he went through the afterimage.
...! Damn it, there's not enough time to completely dodge the killing intent from the back-!]
HAAAAH!
[With a yell, he turned- raising his right hand instinctively as the slash ripped through his sleeves as if it was air, while his left hand was raised in an uppercut motion, aimed to push the other male back. It connects, and succeeds in making him grunt as he's driven back a few steps, if not much else. Nanaya looks at Shiki with a half-congratulating gaze, eager to continue this dance until one of them falls. A lack of interruption will bring that conclusion sooner rather than later.]
(Note: Sure enough, Nanaya Shiki has arrived at the tower. Anyone is free to speak to either of them, although Shiki's liable to escape Nanaya's line of sight if he's distracted, and attacking Shiki may result in Nanaya being all too welcoming of new additions. It's not a safe situation.)

She has enough reflex in her to hold out her arms to shield her forehead from hitting the ground. Because even vampires get headaches. With an "Oomph!", there's a clear delay in her recovery. She's a Dead Apostle, but she's still a young girl who's been caught in dangerous circumstances. Her experience in battle is limited at best and then there's the neglected part of her that just wants to rip him to shreds. ]
Tohno-kun... sorry, you should get away while I take care of this problem for you. [ Satsuki murmurs. ]

[Dammit, so the exchange between that other guy and her keyed him in on the remaining holes of how Yumizuka is the way she is right now, but that still isn't a good reason for her to just.
Throw herself between the both of them...!
...
Even though he kinda defied her order to just stay back and rest, but still...!]
I can handle this, alright!?

[ Her hair's fallen over her face to cover the toothy grin she sports, but her eyes pierce through to stare him down. For those self aware of eyes that hold special powers, it might be easy to pick up on that she was encouraging him to flee with more than just her words. ]
I can do this. [ She has to for his sake. ] I'm not just some ordinary girl who can't defend her friend.
[ Even though she knows that only Satsujinki considers her a friend, it slips out. There are too many secrets and thoughts she's trying to contain, so a little bit of her has to mess up every so often. Besides, what will happen to Shiki if she loses full control here? She might not be able to tell the difference and blood is blood no matter the source.
But human blood is the best.
No, she can't think like that. Shaking her head as she rises, one of her arms hang limp at her side as though it were a weapon itself. ]
I won't die in protecting Tohno-kun. [ The girl insists. ] I promise.
no subject
[His promise has already been decided. From the moment he was born into the Nanaya clan. It's hard to ascertain where the voice is coming from, what with Nanaya moving too fast to follow. The only clue is the instant disappearance of the deflected knife somewhere along the way.]
[Once again, he directs his attack at Shiki, this time in the form of a very direct slash from the front to his torso. Nevertheless, with Nanaya's speed, it could have the same element of surprise as any backstab. Maybe he's goading Satsuki. More likely, he finds the novelty of having such a relatively convoluted fight amusing.]

Leave him alone! [ Speaking of speed, guess who's there right in the blink of an eye to try to shove Shiki out of the way. ] And I'm not going to break a promise!
[ The girl is at her very limit of humanity as the line between right and wrong begins to blur to an unrecognizable point. Something tugs at her heart about showing her monstrous side in front of Shiki, louder than the incessant nagging about containing herself.
There's no delay in her bringing up her arm, fingers extended as though they were claws, with the intent of catching Nanaya's shirt with them. If she throws him, he'll leave the two of them alone, right? ]

You can't just fight against a trained Assassin like that, after all...
But the suggestion to leave the place started to force him to reconsider his actions...]

[Satsuki may be inexperienced, but she's still a vampire. Nanaya's caught by surprise, indeed being held from his jacket, but he reacts in the fraction of a second and, in less than the blink of an eye, his school uniform has a newly-cut hole below his neck revealing his shirt, letting him go free. This results in him looking like a disheveled pastiche of the other Shiki in the room. He would have much rather taken the vampire's hand off, but he remains unwilling to use the eyes, and he is not going to risk finding out about unexpected hardiness in such an immediately dangerous situation.]
[Now accepting the new level of gravity, Nanaya does not utter a word, but simply decides to stop playing around. Dashing forward at Satsuki's right side, Nanaya puts his weight behind a kick and stab, aiming them at her leg and midsection, respectively. Blocking both may prove difficult, Nanaya's aware, and he's actually expecting this to either put some much-needed distance between them, or end the battle prematurely.]
... oh oops I forgot to track this thread FACE IN HANDS
So it's a drive to survive and bid time. Gritting her teeth, she looks up towards him with scarlet eyes, ready to dive in on him should he remain close to her. ]

[In any case, there's vampires to be killed. Nanaya figures out that Satsuki's playing a defensive game almost immediately, but he still believes that, given a choice completely removed from circumstances on whether to attack him or not, she'd choose the former, regardless of whether he feeds the proverbial fire or not.]
[And thus, he stays at a reasonable distance from her, simply staring with that overly confident look in his eyes. He doesn't intend to let his new target escape, but there's no harm in waiting for her to create an opening. Every once in a while, he will flip his knife, reaffirming his killing intent to her.]
no subject
Oh, but why is she thinking like this?! The thought of hurting him pains her in all the ways she thought impossible. She can't hurt him. She can't hurt him. The faint hint of blood in the air says otherwise and her mind begins to fall more into a primal state as every bit of humanity seeps out of her. All she has to do is wait for Shiki to get away and then, then she can work on eliminating him. ]
No. [ She manages to say it weakly, admitting just how torn she was on the thought of fighting him. ]
