Christmas curry~

Summary: Shion is using her flu present~ And willing to share a little curry.

Anyone near the kitchen would probably smell a delicious blend of spices, that made up Shion's special sweet curry. Earlier in the day, she had been surprised to find the basket of ingredients in her room (as well as something disturbing from home), and she wasted little time getting to the kitchen to prepare her specialty.

They didn't give her a while lot, but she's definitely be willing to share a portion or two with anyone tired of nutrition bars.

In the Library...

Shion stepped off the stairs quietly and surveyed the room.

"Allen? Jin?"

She had something small concealed in her hand, and she looked a little worried. She really hoped at least one of them would be there.

[Shion was just giving her curry another stir, when she looked up to the kitchen doorway.]

Oh, hello!

[Looks safe enough to step in.]

You don't happen to have extra there, do you? I'll find a way to pay you back if you do.

[uzuki]

[She nodded, still smiling.]

You don't have to worry about payment. You're more than welcome to have some curry. I made more than I can eat on my own.

I'd object but hey, I'm not going to look the gift horse in the mouth. I'll take a plate.

[uzuki]

Of course!

[It took her only a moment to prepare a plate with a mound of rice and delicious orange goop. She then held it before him with a polite bow of the head.]

Here you are! I hope you like it.

Liking it isn't going to be a problem after surviving off this crap and military chow before that.

[Taking the plate.]

You cook a lot?

[uzuki]

Yes. Most of the people I live with have... interesting cooking techniques. So I tend to make quite a few of our meals. Well, when it isn't something that can be automated easily.

That's a skill I'm going to need to pick up at some point. Never thought I'd need it until I came here.

[Don't mind him as he takes a bite.]

Though this is pretty good.

Hm... Well, I was told that the food changes every month. Hopefully there will be something better here soon...

It might change every month but that doesn't mean it's something good every month.

[uzuki]

I guess that's true. But maybe they do it to try to get everyone to work together.

[Because she doesn't want to believe they're simply being tortured for no reason.]

Yeah, right. That's a pretty good outlook...but probably wrong.

[uzuki]

Well, even so... If that were the result, everyone's lives here would be a little easier.

Isn't that just hopeful thinking? Sure, bad situations make good bedfellows but get together too long and those differences will really start to show.

[uzuki]

I'm not sure that's true. Most of my friends from home came together out of necessity. I suppose it just depends on how important the goal is. Or how willing everyone involved is to rely on one another.

The more people around, the harder it's going to be.

[uzuki]

[She nodded.]

I guess it's not likely that everyone here will suddenly be friends, but there isn't any reason that we can't start working together more. I've seen some people trying to help. Making clothes or food. If everyone could pitch in some skill, I think being here would be that much more bearable.

Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but...

[She trailed off, since she didn't really have anything beyond that.]

That's a good goal but then you got people like me. I've fought in wars most of my life. Not exactly a marketable skill around here, especially when you get super hero Jim who can do what I do but better.

I suppose I could learn something new but I'm sure there are plenty of people like me.

[uzuki]

In that case, maybe learning a new skill would help you out more. Are you interested in cooking?

Seeing as I'd probably break something when I get mad, it's probably not something I should pick up.

[uzuki]

[She laughed just a little.]

Maybe not...

Being rough around the edges is a character flaw.

Though I suppose I could do a little maintenance and repair on machines and stuff. Every pilot needs to learn a little of that.
