Anyone near the kitchen would probably smell a delicious blend of spices, that made up Shion's special sweet curry. Earlier in the day, she had been surprised to find the basket of ingredients in her room (as well as something disturbing from home), and she wasted little time getting to the kitchen to prepare her specialty.

They didn't give her a while lot, but she's definitely be willing to share a portion or two with anyone tired of nutrition bars.

In the Library...

Shion stepped off the stairs quietly and surveyed the room.

"Allen? Jin?"

She had something small concealed in her hand, and she looked a little worried. She really hoped at least one of them would be there.

Probably. I heard people here were organizing groups to try to find answers, but. Well, maybe it's the cold that's discouraged people lately.

You think so? I would have imagined they'd want more distractions. However, I have noticed many residents of the tower are sick. I'd imagine that's the cause of a lack of motivation.

I think you may be right. I just recently recovered from a strange flu, myself.

Odd. I can imagine all sorts of things happening here but the flu seems almost harmless in comparison.

Well, it wasn't like a normal flu. Not to me. I guess some other people experienced strange effects as well. I felt better when I woke up this morning though, and I received a note thanking me for participating in an experiment.

It's disconcerting that anything could be a potential experiment...

I agree. I know this place isn't meant to let us relax, but it's difficult to live this way... Always on edge. I keep trying to find small comforts, like everyone else, but you never know...

Any comfort could just be a trap.

[She nodded, and simply out of habit, she rose and grabbed the pan from the stove. She then refilled his plate, just as she normally did with the Elsa crew, back home.]

It makes me wonder how long we can all go on like this.

I'm surprised it hasn't affected some more prominently.

I'm not sure everyone understands the situation. Some even believe that their home world was really destroyed.

[She returned the pan, not refilling her own plate as she had sort of lost her appetite.]

I mean... Of course, I'm grateful to see some of my friends again. Some of them were dead back home. And now they're alive and well here. But... I know that could all change at any moment.

[Jade nodded to her. He frowned and thought for a long moment over a bite of curry, then sighed.]

The unpredictability and lack of control are the most worrisome issues. After all, we're not given a way to verify anything they say and all the power over the situation is in their hands..

I've been thinking... If there were a way to get one of these collars, one that hasn't been put on someone, maybe we could analyze it without them knowing. But...

I don't know, there probably isn't any way to get one. And I'm not sure we could find anything. But I think understanding how they can control our powers would be a step in the right direction.

That's very true. I'd like to get my hands on an unused collar if possible, as well as a sample of the liquid they put in them. I believe that'd get us a better handle on the situation, or at least some way to combat them.

Apparently, There's a guard station a few floors up where jobs are given out. I'm not sure what kind of jobs, and I doubt they'd purposely let us near something like unused collars...

But it may be a chance to get some more information. I've been thinking about getting one of the jobs. I don't like the idea of helping them out, but it might be worth a shot.

That's an idea. It'd be better to understand what the jobs do, first.
