Hacking #06: Electricity Training (Closed)

Setting: Floor 38.
Format: Whichever, though starting with brackets.
Summary: One lightning user teaches the other ways in which their powers can be used, besides the usual zapping things.

[The lounge floor had quickly become one of the floors April tended to relax on, along with the meadow floor, if only because it had couches to sprawl out on. Which is what April is doing today, though today she has a piece of metal in her hands which she's twisting into different shapes with electricity.

Though she turns her attention away from that when she hears someone else walking around, and she gives a small wave when she sees who it is.]

Afternoon, April.

[Zett comes closer, though not close enough to be hit by the sparks.]

How've you been?

[technologic]

[Luckily the sparks are relatively tame, and April pushes herself up into a sitting position.]

Pretty good, now that the heating has finally turned back on. What about you?

[scentofmakai]

People suddenly changing genders in front of you is weird.

Otherwise, never better.

[technologic]

[Pause and stare. Even the shape-shifting metal pauses mid-shift and looks like an odd mesh of a triangle and circle.]

... People doing what?

[scentofmakai]

My boss shapeshifts. When he turns into a woman it's weird.

[technologic]

I, uh, imagine it would be... Though your boss is the devil, right? So the devil changing genders doesn't sound too weird, I guess.

[scentofmakai]

I guess. But anyway, that's the most interesting thing that's happened to me lately. What about you?

[technologic]

Uhh... Besides making a New Years resolution to dance with a friend everyday, nothing really. I've been spending most of my time training and keeping myself busy.

[scentofmakai]

That's a pretty interesting resolution. Mine was just to talk to the new people more.

[technologic]

We had trouble coming up with one, but we had gotten talking about dancing and he thought it up and said I could join in. So I did.

And that's a pretty good one, especially since that'll help them out.

[scentofmakai]

Thanks~ Yours'll be good exercise.

[Pause, and then he looks a bit frightened.

I'm not calling you fat.

[technologic]

[April blinks and him, and gives a snort of laughter at his expression, the metal having now stopped sparking as she holds it in her hands.]

Ehehehe, I wouldn't really care if you were calling me fat. But yeah, it would be good exercise.

[scentofmakai]

I just thought, for your leg and stuff... [Awkward.]

[technologic]

[She laughs again and gives him a reassuring grin.] Exactly, so you don't have to look worried, Zett. I'm pretty hard to offend, anyhow.

[scentofmakai]

Good, 'cause I've been known to say stupid stuff on occasion.

[technologic]

Don't worry, you can't be any worse than me. The worst I'll do to you saying something stupid is laugh.

[scentofmakai]

I can live with that!

[technologic]

Glad to hear it. [She grins slightly, before glancing down at the metal in her hands.]

... Hey, do you still want to learn how to manipulate metal?

[scentofmakai]

'Course I do. Ready to teach me?

[technologic]

Yep, I am! [And with that, she offers the piece of metal to him.] So, let's see how you do with winging it, first. Try to bend this by just using electricity.

[scentofmakai]

[He takes the piece of metal tries. But the electricity that goes from his hands into the metal doesn't seem to move it much, and he ends up pushing too much into it and shocking himself.]

[technologic]

[Whoops, not as planned.] Ah, you okay?

[scentofmakai]

Ow. Yeah, I'm fine. How do I do that better?

[technologic]

Don't use too much electricity, since it'll only backfire. You have to find a sort of middle ground, since using too little won't work either, and be precise with where you're directing the electricity. You're best bet is focusing on one area around the middle of it.

[scentofmakai]

Got it. [He focuses intently as he zaps the metal again, and gradually, it starts to bend.]
