Characters: Oz Vessalius and you!
Setting: Floors 22, 25 and 3
Format: Starting action, but I'll match!
Summary: Oz gets his Indiana Jones hat on and... wanders aimlessly
Warnings: N/A
floor 22/25;
[Several days in this place plus multiple explanations concerning how elevators work and Oz still finds himself having a bit of trouble with them, but soon enough he's heading off to poke around a little more in his daily attempt to get some answers. ...Slowly. Even though familiarizing himself with the surroundings and gathering information are his top goals, forty floors is a lot to cover! After finding out just how long traversing even one floor could take on his first day, he had mentally broken the rest down into bite-sized Adventure Chunks, and today it's time to head to the 21st floor. Possibly not the best place to start; in the end, it and the few floors directly above don't yield anything particularly interesting at first glance, and the only ones he actually stops at are 22 and 25.
Anyone in floor 22 can find him staring at what appears to be a sprawling Victorian-era urban landscape with some measure of quiet contemplation. On the other hand, those moseying through 25 will find him gaping from the stairs like this is the best thing he's ever seen.]
Oh, that's really lovely! [...Really suspicious, actually. After just a few of the things he's seen, he's not foolish enough to step off of the staircase yet. Instead, he flags down the nearest person, be they on the staircase or the floor itself.] Excuse me, is it safe to spend time on this floor?
floor 3;
[After his shenanigans on the higher floors come to an end, he takes the elevator to the bottom level and works his way up to the third. He's already passed through this library a few times and took the time out once to look for anything potentially useful, even if that search had turned out to be fruitless. This time, he's come to look around for different reasons— something to keep his mind occupied being chief among them. He had expected to walk out with a few interesting reads to whittle away some hours with. What he hadn't expected to find was the entire Holy Knight series just sitting there in the center of a shelf, begging to be checked out.
SO fine library patrons, you can catch Oz making an impromptu juggling act of himself in the fiction section, trying to balance a good eight or so volumes and still seemingly determined to pick up more. Beware all ye who wander too close, lest the potential book avalanche become a reality...]

Thank you! I'll treat it with care, I promise.

Oh, you're welcome! And I'm glad that you will. Just make sure to return it when you have a blade of your own, alright?

[He shifts a little to bring his book stack closer and looks past the terminals.] Is there a check-out system here? I should get going soon so I can fetch that book for you.
no subject
Actually, there really isn't any formal check-out system here. We operate by the honor system..but we will know if you take too many of them, so don't abuse it! I had to track down a book thief awhile ago, so don't think we're not capable. And I'll help you carry these books to your room! It would be terrible if you fell because of all of them.
no subject
You don't have to if you don't want to, but I won't say no to a little extra company!
no subject
[Tohko took her library duties very seriously.]
And don't worry, I want to! Plus, this'll make it easier for you to give me the first volume!
no subject
BUT with that said and his books all collected, he turns to mosey off in the direction of the elevator.]
no subject
[Both for the fact that she can get back to the library quickly and get this new book quickly. Tohko followed him over to the elevator, carefully carrying the books she had grabbed.]
no subject
This is a pretty convenient thing, isn't it? We don't have anything like it where I come from!
no subject
Oh, really?! In the universe I'm in, elevators are pretty common.

Not every building. After all, not every building is big enough in my universe for them. But office buildings, hotels, and other places do have them.

Why is something so common like that still considered expensive? Don't things usually become popular because the prices are lowered? ...Well, I mean, that doesn't solve the problem of having small houses! And I like stairs too, so I guess it's a moot point.

[Speaking of, the elevator dings and comes to a stop!]

[As the elevator doors open, Tohko walked out and waited for the boy to follow her.]

Its contents are mainly outfits - vests, jackets, boots - all things that would likely seem quite out of date to someone so modern. He shoves most of it aside without care, though, fishing around until he pulls out the first volume of Holy Knight and holds it out to her.] Aha! Here we are!
no subject
Ah, thank you very much! I promise, I'll take good care of it, and I'll give it back to you as soon as I'm done.
[She'll just have to make sure she doesn't eat it.]
no subject
You can take your time reading it. That's the one I've read the most, so it isn't like I'll be needing to revisit it any time soon. Now you know where I'm staying, so you can return it whenever you'd like!
no subject
Ah, alright then! It shouldn't take me too long to finish, so I'll just pop in here and return it when I'm done.
[And then ask for the next volume..]
no subject
That said, he glances back at his pile o' books with his hands on his hips, looking quite satisfied.] All right, I'll look forward to your visit! [...] Oh! I can't believe my manners, my name is Oz! Oz Vessalius.

Is that a book? I've never heard of it before.
