Characters: AU!Ishimaru Kiyotaka and YOU!
Setting: room 4-18, dormitories, and the library
Format: action prefered but I can match what I'm given!
Summary: Ishimaru investigates his new surroundings and leaves an ominous note for his OU counterpart
Warnings: This Ishimaru is kind of a general walking warning label
Room 4-18, morning
[What confuses Ishimaru the most upon waking is less being in an unfamiliar place and more that he's even awake at all. He dimly recalls dying... perhaps this place was hell? When he's able to move, he gets up, surveying the room as well as himself. Spotting the letters, he skims over both. If what they say is true, perhaps he isn't dead after all? Regardless, he is dissatisfied with the jumpsuit he's currently wearing, he investigates the trunk at the foot of his bed, finding, to his relief, his usual uniform. He changes immediately, though he pauses before choosing the disciplinary committee armband rather than the "despair" one. Might was well play it safe at this point before he can investigate further. Which, after sliding his sword through his belt, and grabbing the spiral bound notebook, both found in his chest, is exactly what he sets out to do.]
Dormitories, particularly outside Room 2-04
[He starts with the immediate vicinity, walking up and down the halls of the dorms in an orderly, almost patrol-like fashion, glancing at the names printed on the doors... He spots quite a few familiar names... including a few that should have been dead long ago. He doesn't bother them yet, but he does jot down their name, roommates, and room numbers in his notebook. Even more concerning is when he reaches a door bearing his own name. Two doors down from Oowada, even. The room assignments seemed random but... Could it actually be Mukuro? He was dead, but so was Maizono and Fujisaki, and he'd seen their names on other doors as well.
He stands there for a good minute, considering his course of action. No one else would have reason to impersonate him, would they? Even so, it might be unwise to leave a note addressed as such, he might need Mukuro to stay undercover and one of his roommates might find the note before him. He makes his decision, and slides a piece of paper under the door with the simple message of;
To the one calling himself "Ishimaru Kiyotaka",
One of the residents of room 4-18 would like to speak with you.
Satisfied, he continues on his investigation.]
Library
[This continues until he reaches the library, which he is quite glad to find. Deciding he'd done enough investigation of the tower itself for one day, he allows himself to make a thorough investigation of the library itself, and one could find him with his note in various books for most of the rest of the day.]

[He furrows his brow for a second, but then is struck by a thought - of course! The only clear explanation is:]
I see! This truly is a strange coincidence! Fortunately, your uniform is different enough to avoid any confusion! I will be sure to keep an eye out to see if your brother is also in the Tower, knowing what he must look like!
[Hold on, something doesn't add up...]
...However... If your brother's name is different, how could you have mistaken me for him by my name alone?
no subject
[This is awful. having Mukuro by his side again would have been perfect... But despite the similarities, this didn't seem to be him. But that was odd wasn't it? Even though this other Ishimaru seems ready to accept it as a coincidence, he wasn't. That didn't explain how they were both aquaintances of Mondo.
In fact, now that he thinks about it, Mondo had said some strange things too. He seemed to be entirely the Mondo he knew, but there was a difference in his memory. Perhaps this was something similar? Perhaps.... Mukuro's memories had been tampered with so that he forgot who he really was? Maybe... For now, he'll just play along. Whether it was Mukuro or not, he's still certain that this person was friends with Mondo.]
Speaking of brothers... You're friends with Oowada-kun, correct?
no subject
Although, if his brother was disguised as him... What kind of mischief could they have possibly been up to? He's heard that twins like to do that kind of thing just for confusing people, and if that's the case, he just can't approve. He's about to reprimand him when the other Ishimaru brings up Mondo.]
Oh, yes! Oowada-kun is very much like my own brother! So, you've already met him? I'm sure that must have caused quite a bit of confusion, ha ha ha!
[Wow, it's like any apprehension he had before he entered the room is gone.]
no subject
I did meet him! In fact...
[He walks over to his trunk, pulling out Mondo's tokkoufuku jacket. As he holds it up, it should be clear that there's quite a lot of blood on it, particularly around the shoulder.]
I believe this is his! Do you think you could return it to him for me?
no subject
hot pinkdark red stains. He steps forward, wide-eyed, and grabs at the tokkoufuku. There's so much blood, he can even smell it this close. It's not even one hundred percent dried.]
Whose... blood is this...?
[A monster's. It's got to be. The other Ishimaru wandered into a danger zone, Mondo was there to save him, and his jacket fell off in the battle. Right? Right?]
no subject
[he's all smiles. He doesn't suspect that this other Ishimaru will attack him, but he's got his sword at his side if he decides to.
Thus, he might as well have fun with this.]
He was bleeding quite a lot though... I do hope someone's found him by now. He won't be able to find help on his own, after all. I made certain of that. He won't be walking anywhere for quite some time! He wanted to prevent you from meeting me, you see.
[As he talks, he slowly moves to put himself between Ishimaru and the door. He's got him where he wants him, he's not letting him escape now.]
no subject
What did you do to him? Why? Who are you, really? Questions he wants desperately to have answered, but he knows there's no time. He has to make sure Mondo's alright, first of all, so there's only one question that's appropriate right now:]
Where is he?!
[He tightens his grip on the jacket, as though keeping a hold of it is somehow keeping Mondo alive, and makes his way for the door. He'll try to go around the other Ishimaru if he has to.]
no subject
He was so upset over the prospect of Mondo being hurt. Why? What's so great about that idiot? He doesn't understand. Isn't he good enough? His grip on the hilt of the sword tightens a little.]
Now now, you've only just arrived, you can't leave already! There is still so much for us to discuss!
I wouldn't worry too much, last I saw him he was on the floor of the kitchen in the cafeteria. I'm sure someone's found him by now. I left him in plain sight.
After all, if I'd let him die, you'd be upset, wouldn't you?
[See, he's totally considerate! Do you have any idea how badly he wanted to kill him? To watch the color drain from his face as he gasped his last breath? But he let him live, all for you!]
no subject
No matter what, there's always something that he's not able to stop. Chihiro's murder and the subsequent execution. Mondo's transformation during the Halloween and not listening to his warnings. This. What good is he?
He stares down at the sword, tears of frustration welling up in his eyes.]
Any further discussion will wait until I make sure that my brother is safe! If you do not move I will force my way out!
[He can't go up against a sword. But he can make a run for it... hopefully.]
no subject
So he's just going to knee him in the stomach in an attempt to knock him over.]
I don't think you understand. You're not leaving this room until we have a little talk, brother.
no subject
You... You've got that wrong! You already know that I am not your brother!!
no subject
Well you see, I've considered all the facts, and I realized that's the only explaination that makes sense! My brother was best friends with Mondo Oowada and so are you. Not only that, but you look just like does! And act how he did when he was disguised as me.
Now, it seems you have no memory of that identity, as of such. But then I remembered something. You died from a blow to the head, didn't you? Oowada-kun seemed to have some jumbled memories as well, clearly you've just forgotten your true identity, Mukuro Ikusaba!
no subject
[Suddenly he stops short, face paling. A blow to the head... It is true that when he awoke in the Tower, he was suffering from an intense headache. There was even a bump. It's also true that his recollection of everything that happened at Hope's Peak after Mondo's death is fuzzy at best.
And Mondo... He's alive here. He, Maizono, Fujisaki, Leon... All those Ishimaru had thought to be dead. If they could come back, why couldn't he?]
Uu...
[Mukuro Ikusaba... But that name means nothing to him. There's no way he can be related to this monster anyway, no matter how alike they look! He won't accept it!]
Even if I have died... [It's so strange to say.] That isn't possible. I can remember my childhood! My name is Kiyotaka Ishimaru, and I am an only child!
no subject
Ah, I'm sorry. I should have realized you might not remember that either... But, it's all true you know...
Your memories are probably a little messed up like Togami-kun and Oowada-kun's are. I mean, we grew up together, you've just gotten a little mixed up, is all.
no subject
I won't just believe a thing like this without any proof!!
no subject
Proof? Ah...
[Well they had a lot of shared memories together... But his were all jumbled up... But he said remembering his childhood, didn't he?]
Well, all your childhood memories are mine as well... Do you remember the time we went to Nara with mother? Our father was going to come too but he had to go away on business. We went to see the deer park, but you thought the deer were scary! [He laughs a little.] But you were brave. You said you'd protect mother and me... You were always protecting us...
INTERWEAVES THESE TIMELINES LIKE A BOSS
He'd seen deer before - pictures in books, but nothing more. They were so much smaller on paper than they had been in real life, and the ones in Nara so tame that they crowded around him, nudging him for food. For a kid barely as big as the deer himself, it was a pretty frightening experience.
...His mother had called him brave then, too.]
...I can remember being in Nara. [His voice is (relatively) soft, and he furrows his brow.] However, I know you were not there.
[So how does he know? ...Whatever, there's no time for this now! He pushes himself back up to his feet, gaze locking on the door.]
You have wasted enough time! Let me through!
GOOD JOB SHOCKY YOU'RE THE BEST also warning for incoming crazy
Ah... even after I gave you proof?
[He starts to tear up.]
You're so mean, Mukuro onii-san... You're just going to leave me again? Just like you did years ago? I... I was really happy, when I heard you'd be going to Hopes Peak with me, that we would be together again... but then you just went and became friends with Oowada-kun... And you said he was like your brother, too.
[He jumps to his feet, grabbing hold of his "brother".]
You said that you'd always protect me! But now all you can think about is that bastard Oowada-kun! Hahah.... I-I hate him. More than anyone else. He stole you from me.
[His grip becomes almost painfully tight.]
Please, don't leave me, brother...
TLDR ALERT
His lookalike knows about Hope's Peak and something so far back in his youth. He knows about the head injury (Ishimaru's still stunned that he was killed, and can't help but wonder who could have done it). The physical similarities are undeniable.
He can believe that the Tower Administrators have the ability to alter someone's memories. After everything else he's seen, it seems like such a simple thing.
As much as he'd like to further deny it... he can believe that he has a brother.
But the brother he does know is still out there somewhere, in pain. ...If everything this supposed blood relative claims is true, it's Ishimaru's own fault for being such an awful brother. To the both of them. That thought is enough to elicit sobbing from him. If he leaves now in favour of Mondo, would that make the jealousy worse? He can't abandon a brother.
What should he choose?]
I don't... remember you...! I don't remember leaving, or wearing any disguises! But if what you say is true, then I... I have truly been a despicable brother!!
[He finally brings one hand away from the jacket, palm stained red with powdered blood - Mondo's blood on his hands, how fitting, it's enough to set him off crying even harder - and clutches the other Ishimaru's upper arm.]
I-I don't know the reasons for what I did in the past. But please, please do not punish my b-- [He catches himself far too late-] --punish Oowada-kun for my crimes...! If we are truly brothers, then... then I will do my best to be worthy of being called 'brother' from now on...
RIGHT BACK AT YOU
He's gotten Mukuro back. He wasn't going to risk losing him again. The last time had been his fault. They'd argued, Mukuro had threatened to tell the truth to everyone, and he'd ordered Celes to have him killed. I'd been the first time he'd seen someone he actually cared about die. It had only been through the cameras, but it had still filled him with such a great despair he could barely even handle it. Truly, the only thing that had given him greater despair was his own death.
He hadn't realized until he'd seen his own name on that door that a small part of him regretted it. Having his brother back now... he felt like a whole person again. His dear older brother who would do anything to make him happy... And... death was impermanent in this place. He could kill Mukuro with his own two hands without any risk of losing him forever again. He felt a slight shiver at the excitement that the thought gave him. To be able to feel that rush of despair again; it surely would be even greater if he were to cause it himself.
But for now, Mukuro was here, and Ishimaru was intent on keeping it that way for a while. He sniffed, still choking back tears, of relief at this point.]
I-I'm sorry, please don't be mad at me, nii-san... I promise I won't hurt him if you don't want me to.
[His hands tightened, fingers curling into the fabric of "Mukuro's" uniform jacket. It felt like they were kids again, when Ishimaru had been shy and timid, and Mukuro had been strong and protected him. It hadn't been like that for a long time... ever since they'd met again in Hope's Peak, Ishimaru had held his brother's "betrayal" over his head, guilted him into helping him with his plan. Maybe because their last parting had been caused by him and not Mukuro, things were back to the way they were before.]
I'm really sorry... I won't do it again, I promise, I promise... Just don't be mad at me... Please...
no subject
He can't be mad. Not at his apparent brother, anyway. It is, after all, his own fault that Mondo was put into harm's way in the first place, and he buries that deep within himself. All his past failings as a brother, those he remembers as a Kyoudai and those he can't as an Onii-san, will have to be learned from and overcome. He'll be worthy. He'll do whatever it takes to fulfill his fraternal duty... But as someone who had been so convinced of being an only child, he's not yet sure what that entails.
Until he can ask around and figure it out, all he can do is guess. He pats his "brother" on the arm and shuts his eyes tightly, letting out a shaky breath. This is no time to be a sobbing mess. Taking responsibility begins now.]
I am not the person you should be apologizing to. [...Tears are still running down his face.]
But... brother... there are things I must apologize for as well! Please, tell me all I have done so I may repent for it!
no subject
[But he's an awful delinquent. He deserved it for his illicit behavior as a gang leader and for stealing Mukuro away. Just the though filled him with despair.]
I-If you want me to I will...
[He's definitely not letting go though. Not yet. His grip does loosen a little though, as he pulls away a bit to look up at his "brother."]
Oh but, you already made up for it. It's me who should apologize for letting you be killed. Especially since we couldn't properly punish your killer...
no subject
He's... so curious, but he knows it's better not to ask for his murderer's identity. It sounds like if they weren't punished, his "brother" doesn't know either. What would that solve if he did? He doesn't want to risk it being one of his classmates already in the tower. Why strain those relations? They're here now, alive, and as horrible as the Tower is, at least nobody has to kill each other.
He shakes his head.]
Whoever the culprit was... I am alive here, so there is no need to see them punished after all! So, we can just forget about the whole thing!
[Iiiit's going to haunt him.]
no subject
That's just like you, nii-san. You always try to see the best in people.
[Which was of course also his downfall at the hands of his little brother.]
Ah, but you probably want to go see that delinquent Oowada-kun now...
no subject
He holds the jacket to his chest, looking a little surprised. Is the other Ishimaru really going to let him go now?]
Yes...! Yes, I should return this to him and make sure he's all right!
[And explain the situation as he understands it. Including his brother's jealousy... Something he shouldn't set off again.]
I will come back soon, I promise.
