[05] || [One Ring to Rule them All] || [Closed]
Characters: Gandalf, Frodo and those they called to the council.
Setting: Cathedral Floor
Format: Action
Summary: Frodo has with him a certain ring yet he cannot reach Mount Doom to destroy it. So Gandalf sent a note to a few people for a small council to be held so as to discuss the matter of utmost importance that is the ring, as it is destroying Frodo's mind and can theoretically fall into very bad hands.
Warnings: Nothing. Well, Frodo may suffer of the repercussion of what'll happen to the ring.
The Cathedral Floor was handy to organize big or small reunion-- This one was a small one and unlike Reunion that may have been held there before, this one had not been made to look fancy. ... It was Elrond's duty to make fancy-looking reunion after all. No, Gandalf had simply set a table and chairs around it so that the few people summoned could sit down and discuss.
To each of them he had sent a letter with their name on it explaining in very short why he needed them, to help Frodo (a personal matter, but if the ring was to fall in the hand of dangerous individuals in the tower, it wouldn't be so personal any more). Obviously enough, Gandalf and Frodo would be the first to be there of course.
Oh, and the room is magically protected. Non invited people and eavesdropper, you shall not pass.

... There is just the slightest hint of twitching when the reason for bringing these people together is revealed. Zelda prides herself on being able to resist evil forces - the blessings of her bloodline and the relic she bears both helpful in that regard - but still, her sensitive ears hear the whispers that carry such promise. Such power.
It reminds her of Ganondorf, and she shuts the whispers out as best she can. Fiddling with a ring of her own, a gold band set with a shining red ruby, she turns her attention to Gandalf.]
How do you intend for me to be of assistance in this endeavor?
[He was, after all, the one who hand-picked who was to be here.]

[ The wizard pauses. ]
I cannot even describe how powerful they would become. And dangerous, very dangerous. Surely not enough to defy the administrators, but enough to change life as we know it in these parts of the tower. This is something that must never happen.
[ As a matter of fact any of those sitting in this room could become powerful beyond measure considering what powers they had already, what they were gifted with. But he trusted their will to be strong enough. ]
But for now, I would appreciate if you could simply help and protect Frodo. His fate is tied to that of the ring and I believe your magics may provide him some comfort would we be to try bring about an end to the ring.

[Instantly, her brows furrow, deciphering the subtext behind Gandalf's words. It's not something she likes, and her attention shifts back once again to Frodo.]
Will attempting to destroy the ring hurt you?

most hobbits when they reached their 50's were quite settled in their hobbit hole. most. it did not seem frodo was of the same cut, after all. he looks away, and even in that it seems each heavy blink takes energy. ]
I would not speak of it openly, but yes. Even when I had only begun carrying it, when put to an axe, it sent me almost out of my chair. The journey was..new, then. I do not know what I would feel now.
[ his smile is gentle, and there is sadness in it. gandalf is wise but still, there are so many young faces in the room, it feels like. he was that way, once. before this journey started. ]
The Ring has caused many hurts, it will cause many more. That is it's way. But regardless, a way must be found, and I wouldn't forsake a chance, if this company is not harmed.
[ he glanced at gandalf then, there was no pleading, nothing in his eyes but silent apology. this was not their burden to bear. ]
I would like to try.
[ either way he will still be in pain, and either way the ring will still fall as his burden. he chose this. still, his smile is gentle towards her, eyes firm. ]
It's alright.

It's a sadistic situation.
Eventually, she accepts his willingness to try, and she bows her head, placing a hand over her heart.]
Then I will do all that I am able to mitigate the pain this effort might cause you. I am able to create barriers - perhaps shielding you will somehow disrupt the ring's connection?
[She glances between Gandalf and Frodo, looking for an answer.]

He tries to smile to Zelda when she speaks and nods, albeit it is only a faint and pained smile given the situation the Hobbit is in. ]
We would appreciate it greatly. Whilst no barrier can break the connection, I have good hope your powers may be able to limit the connection to the ring.

[ is all he'll say on the matter, glancing to gandalf from his small chair, than to the young woman in front of him. ]
There is no further harm in trying.
