Summary: Amberley's poking around and trying to gather information, all while playing it as safe as possible.
Warnings: The thread with Tohko has gracious amounts of talk of murder and other grimdarkness that comes with the verse.

Cafeteria: [ Amberley's got a big plate of something unidentifiable in front of her and she is grossed out. Is this the kind of stuff that the Imperial Guard eats on a daily basis? Maybe her expensive lifestyle had caught up to her, but she hardly doubted she could stomach what was in front of her.

Then again, if she didn't eat at all, she would grow weak. In a new place, this was unthinkable. So very slowly, Amberley tries to make her way through the meal. ]

Library: [ What better way is there to gain knowledge than through reading? Amberley's draped on a chair with a huge stack of books, reading at a pretty good pace. Occasionally, she'll nod and hum to herself, but other than that, she's completely lost in her reading. ]

You aren't fond of techpriests, then? Or does your world even have such a thing?

....yeah, what the hell is a techpriest?

It's a human that's augmented themselves with machinery, some of them barely resemble humans, while some have only a few augments. Quite a lot of them work with the Imperium, running their ships and repairing other technology.

Yeah, I can get that. What the heck is the priest part all about?

I'm not one, obviously, so it's hard for me to explain, but a lot of techpriests get machinery to work by chanting at it. They also apparently believe that machines have souls just like people do.

...that's probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

And I've done a lot of dumb things in my day.

Well, they keep the Imperium's tech working just fine, and all they care about is results.

But yes, I don't quite get it either.

That's just dumb though. Fixing a machine is simple. We don't need them thinking they have souls or something.

[hegantha]

For the sake of discussion, do you really think machines having souls would be so bad?

They don't have souls. And never will so there is no discussion.

You aren't even willing to admit the possibility? Granted, I think it's just as silly as you do, but it seems unwise to completely write it off.

I've never heard anything like it! Why would pigs ever sprout wings? Who thought of that to display a suspense of belief? I'd like to meet the individual that coined such an expression.

Maybe it was lost to the ages in my 'verse. Or perhaps it just never existed. What a shame that is.

It does! After all I would have never been able to speak from someone from the dark ages under normal circumstances. It's a real treat!
