Player Plot: KOS-MOS rampage.

Characters: KOS-MOS ([personal profile] kosmic_angel) and everyone she’s going to kill.
Setting: All over the tower, your choices. Today only!
Format: prose to start but I’ll switch
Summary: Shion and Allen tried to build KOS-MOS a maintenance bed and it has some… unexpected difficulties. Like KOS-MOS going Archetype mode and killing everyone in sight. RUN!
Warnings: There’s going to be a lot of dying and it’s going to get gory.

When KOS-MOS had laid down in the makeshift maintenance bed that had been built for her, she hadn‘t expected anything to happen but for her power cells to be recharged like they normally would be. That, unfortunately, was not the case.

Upon waking, her systems had been… altered. Currently, all life signs were marked as hostile and her recognition software had been shutdown. Profiles of each individual she had met in the tower were sealed and she could access them. Priority programming went to combat and eliminating everything marked as a threat. She climbed out of the maintenance bed and used her transfer system to summon her scythe into existence.

And then she stalked out into the halls, visor down and blocking sight of her face and eyes. KOS-MOS walks normally, acts normal really, until she finds someone who is marked as a target. Meaning anyone and everyone.

Shion hadn't expected her attack to connect, nor had she expected that burning sensation in her chest. But, there it was, along with the R-Blade, piercing one of her lungs. She tried to gasp, but she could only manage a shallow, shuttering breath, before she could taste blood.

She stumbled backward off of the blade. It was difficult to move her arm, but she pressed a hand over the wound with as much strength as she could muster. Blood oozed between her fingers and she slumped forward slightly..

"Ether... Drive."

Her voice was raspy and quiet, but she got the words out with a sickening cough, and raised her other hand. Spirals of light energy descended on KOS-MOS from every direction, thanks to a heavy beam ether.

Had she not been immobilized by KOS-MOS, she still might not have attacked. She was finding it rather difficult to move at all, or stay conscious, really. With KOS-MOS's grip on her throat, and a respiratory system filling with blood, it was virtually impossible for her to draw another breath.

She mouthed the android's name, though no sound escaped her. Then slowly, darkness began to creep along the edges of her vision.

Well, that was unpleasant! Hitting the wall jolted her back into consciousness. Not that being awake was going to help her any. She simply slid down to the floor. She had lost enough blood, by that point, that she still couldn't fight back. All she could do was watch KOS-MOS approach, and wait.

A spray of arrows bounced harmlessly off KOS-MOS' frame then, and then another, and another.

If MOMO were an escapist, perhaps it would have been easier to hide somewhere safe and hope things were taken care of soon. Others might have even encouraged her to. But KOS-MOS was her friend, regardless of how artificial her personality may have been, and to see her malfunctioning so twistedly was something she couldn't stand. On top of that, MOMO knew she had no chance of standing up to her, but if she could save Shion, at least, maybe it would buy them all time to set things as right as they could be, in a situation like this. If she could distract KOS-MOS and evade her moves for just long enough, maybe...

"Shion!" she called, a troubled crack in her voice. "Shion, can you move?! Please, say something!"

"MOMO! ...run!"

Shion's words were accompanied by a spattering of blood onto the floor in front of her. She slouched forward, trying to pick herself up, but was coughing blood everywhere instead.

MOMO felt her stomach sink as the realization she might have already been too late hit her with full force. She couldn't stop to try and patch Shion up, and leaving her there to take on KOS-MOS would be an exercise in futility.

But she had to do something. She had to, and she'd already come this far to do it.

The quick senses of a 100-Series were put to good use when she picked up on KOS-MOS' intent to shoot mere fractions before the bullets actually left the barrel. MOMO darted to the side, only getting grazed on the sleeve by the bullet spray; she heard more than saw KOS-MOS start plowing towards her, but made up her mind at that point that a lop-sided exchange was getting her nowhere.

"I... I'm sorry, Shion! I can't leave you here!"

MOMO dove towards Shion as fast as her body could carry her, draping herself over her and setting her nanomachines to work. She tossed her bow aside, knowing it would serve her no use if KOS-MOS closed in... in fact, it was doing little now. At best, she could maybe get a Sword Fish in; at worst, she'd take the blade in Shion's stead, but it was still better in her mind than letting her get killed alone like this by someone she trusted.

MOMO wasn't very large, so it wasn't too much of a surprise that KOS-MOS's blade pierced straight through the small girl and into Shion. Even if they had been back home, and had access to a constant stream of nanomachines, it was possible that Shion had still lost too much blood to be helped. But with MOMO in danger, she had a small surge of energy which would probably be her last.

When KOS-MOS pulled her blade back, Shion grabbed onto the realian's shoulders and pushed her off. She was white and shaking, but she was still attempting to roll over to shield the young girl from KOS-MOS, instead of MOMO shielding her.

Unable to turn around enough in time, as awkward as the position was, MOMO felt it happen more than saw it. Pain spread through her like a current of electricity, gripping her completely. Her body had stopped, but her mind stayed on the same course, and if she'd been able to, she'd have protested at Shion's attempt to do the same for her.

So she fell helplessly against the wall where Shion had thrown her, trying and failing to sit up. Her attempt to try and help was about to end disastrously, at the hands of her friend, and it was a lot to take in. Tears welled up in MOMO's eyes as she tried to speak, in spite of everything, in spite of the large puncture in her midsection.

"KO... S..." KOS-MOS, please don't hurt Shion! Look at what you're doing! I know you can fight it! It was what she might have said, if she had the breath to do it with, but it wasn't meant to be. So instead, she watched the remainder of the events unfurl, now the one being protected in Shion's stead. MOMO felt very cold, all of a sudden.
