Summary: Welcome to the Tower.

A few minutes before anything happens, Ruana's voice rings out over the Tower's intercom--it manages to be louder than anything the residents happen to be doing. "Hey, everyone, there's something exciting going on at floor fifty-six! Go make sure they don't get themselves killed!"

You arrive, stepping or tumbling, in a surgical suite. It looks abandoned, with dust collecting on the table and floors. The lights flicker, and for a moment blood dripping off the table, puddling on the floor--but no, the lights are back, and surely that was your imagination. It's quiet, eerily so, but nothing hinders you, and you're free to spread out and explore. There are multiple rooms here, like in any hospital, and it's all a bit confusing. Occasionally the lights flicker, and it's a bit frightening as Things appear that shouldn't exist. Shadowy creatures stitched together and reaching for you, doctors brandishing phantom surgical tools, blood splattering the walls or floor or ceiling, how did it get there--but none are real, and all of them vanish when the lights return. Eventually you find the staircase, spiraling up and down into darkness. Approach it, though, and the thing glitters with a barrier that will push back any attempts at climbing the thing.

A girl, a teenager dressed in red and black, appears. And she does simply appear, inserting herself into the space, nearly pushing it aside to make room in it for where she is now. Her face beams with unconcealed excitement, and her words tumble out on top of themselves. "You can't go there! Yet, I mean. You'd all die!"

The girl steps onto the staircase, passing through the barrier as if it weren't there, and sits on the steps to address everyone. "Hi! I'm Ruana. You didn't show up the normal way, so the Tower can't support you yet. We got this one floor ready when I saw you were coming but, well, the Tower's kind've big, so getting all of them set up is taking a little longer than I thought." She smiles, sheepishly apologetic in a carefree sort of way. "I've got everyone coming here to visit you--or at least they know they can visit you--and I'll have someone bring food up for you. It'll be oatmeal, and oatmeal is super boring, but you have to eat it, okay? Then you can have whatever you want! The cafeteria's down on the first floor if you get hungry. We should have everything ready in a few hours. I've gotta go help with that, so you guys wait here.

"Don't worry, the monsters can't get to this floor as long as that barrier is up."

And then she's gone, blinking out of existence. The barrier will remain for three hours.

Don't mind Rune; she kind of... sort of... doesn't like ghosts. She's totally not scared or anything! Maybe... possibly...

Okay, she's terrified that there are things appearing when the lights go out and blood and... Rune couldn't help but scream more than a few times, fumbling for someone, anyone that she could cling to right now. Because oh dear god!

She let out a loud whine at a particularly frightening black out, literally jumping onto whoever was close by.

"I want to go back to Hinoto-Ri now!"

...Ferrus is mildly surprised when someone clings to his sleeve, and only more surprised when oh dear he's practically being jumped upon. He seens the black outs, and they're mildly frightening, yes.

But Ferrus isn't about to be a pussy, a), and b) he's familiar with this scare tactic.

He's going to awkwardly reach over and pat you on the back, Rune.

"I-I don't know if that's possible, Rune..."

"IT BETTER BE!"

Rune let out a whine, burying her face into Ferrus' robes. Right now she doesn't care about his lack of touchy feely feels; she is terrified and these creepy things need to go the hell away.

"...first that woman, now this. I hate this..."

Wow, uh, that's some faceburying there. How should Ferrus even respond? The patting just sort of settles on her back in one of the most halfhearted hugs to ever exist on the face of the earth.

If she can't see them, she won't get scared, he presumes.

"I-It'll probably be fine."

Unfortunately Ferrus has no securely consoling words to give, here, beyond just being there. So... just have that hug and him letting you be scared.

Rune rolled her eyes against Ferrus, shaking her head.

"...Ferrus, you suck at this," she muttered. "Just hang on to me and don't let me look."

Rune, why did you ever rely on him for comfort? Ferrus is bad at that. He's just gonna do as she asks and hang on.

"I-I'm sorry?" He did perhaps tighten his hold on her a little. "I-I'll do that." He'd be cute but she told him to hang on so he does. S-sorry Rune ;;

Rune muttered something that might have been a thank you.

Ferrus doesn't know how to respond to that, so he just pats her awkwardly. He had enhanced hearing, so he was fairly sure what he heard...

"Know no fear, Mortal. We shall finish our undertaking and return to that place in good time."

He looks down at her, his expression hidden behind his helm.

"Easy for you to say, Tin Man..." she muttered, forcing herself to just cling to his arm.

"Yes. It is easy for me to say. But I'm here, and Ferrus is here, you will be protected."

He looks down at her clinging to his arm, and asks, "Are you wounded?"

Rune didn't want to look back up at him, pouting down at the ground.

"...no; a little queezy, but okay."

"Carry on then. You have your weapons?"

...tin man, you are a horrible person. Seriously, you suck with the comforting thing.

"Of course."

He'd probably kiss her on the forehead if he wasn't in his armor, but he's more worried about them all getting killed at the moment.

"Trust your wargear, stay with Ferrus and myself, and we'll be all right."

oh gosh oh gosh someone's grabbed onto her! It's a spook!

"Ahhhhhhhh!"

Yukko jumps back, her body rigid as some strange force captures her in it's grasp! She quickly turns her head to look.

Oh. So it wasn't a spook? It was just someone else.

She isn't quite sure how to respond. She's pretty sure she just screamed really loudly and everyone heard. Yukko has probably outdone Rune, somehow.

Woah, someone actually more scared than she is? Rune paused, looking at the other girl sheepishly.

"S-sorry..."
