A few minutes before anything happens, Ruana's voice rings out over the Tower's intercom--it manages to be louder than anything the residents happen to be doing. "Hey, everyone, there's something exciting going on at floor fifty-six! Go make sure they don't get themselves killed!"


You arrive, stepping or tumbling, in a surgical suite. It looks abandoned, with dust collecting on the table and floors. The lights flicker, and for a moment blood dripping off the table, puddling on the floor--but no, the lights are back, and surely that was your imagination. It's quiet, eerily so, but nothing hinders you, and you're free to spread out and explore. There are multiple rooms here, like in any hospital, and it's all a bit confusing. Occasionally the lights flicker, and it's a bit frightening as Things appear that shouldn't exist. Shadowy creatures stitched together and reaching for you, doctors brandishing phantom surgical tools, blood splattering the walls or floor or ceiling, how did it get there--but none are real, and all of them vanish when the lights return. Eventually you find the staircase, spiraling up and down into darkness. Approach it, though, and the thing glitters with a barrier that will push back any attempts at climbing the thing.

A girl, a teenager dressed in red and black, appears. And she does simply appear, inserting herself into the space, nearly pushing it aside to make room in it for where she is now. Her face beams with unconcealed excitement, and her words tumble out on top of themselves. "You can't go there! Yet, I mean. You'd all die!"

The girl steps onto the staircase, passing through the barrier as if it weren't there, and sits on the steps to address everyone. "Hi! I'm Ruana. You didn't show up the normal way, so the Tower can't support you yet. We got this one floor ready when I saw you were coming but, well, the Tower's kind've big, so getting all of them set up is taking a little longer than I thought." She smiles, sheepishly apologetic in a carefree sort of way. "I've got everyone coming here to visit you--or at least they know they can visit you--and I'll have someone bring food up for you. It'll be oatmeal, and oatmeal is super boring, but you have to eat it, okay? Then you can have whatever you want! The cafeteria's down on the first floor if you get hungry. We should have everything ready in a few hours. I've gotta go help with that, so you guys wait here.

"Don't worry, the monsters can't get to this floor as long as that barrier is up."

And then she's gone, blinking out of existence. The barrier will remain for three hours.

Oh, hi there. Have a techpriest staring at you through the barrier, April, before lightly placing his hand against it and very obviously looking at you.

"...Do you know where this is?" It's worth a question.

We come in peace, April! Also, you can cross past the barrier, April.

She ain't trusting that barrier man, admins put it there.

April blinks at him, and then gives him a nod at the question.

"Yeah, this place is called the 'Tower of Animus'... Though I've got new clue why you're here since this... isn't how new people are usually brought here."

And that's confusing and unnerving.

Good point. Also, do they know it's called the Tower of Animus, or just the Tower?

It was a good thing Ferrus had some idea of how they were brought here. "According to what we were informed of by some kind of... 'god', so to speak... we were brought here through time and space by some sort of strange artifact."

No world destruction here, April.

They know it's Tower of Animus, thanks to an Ruana revealing the name a while ago.

April is just. Going to stare at him in surprise.

"... What? That's... that's really not right. People get brought here because apparently their worlds got destroyed..."

April rubs the back of her neck, before she tugs on her collar in thought. "... You guys don't even have collars. This is really, really weird... Where are you from?"

Ahh, okay. I need to lurk moar.

Ferrus is just going to seem surprised, in return.

"I'm... fairly sure our world wasn't destroyed. We come from Hinoto-Ri, which is an enclosed city that stole us from our own worlds."

Not mentioning Personas, as it stands. HERESYYYYY.

April just blinks at him, thinking over that. "... Yeah, this is really strange. Something like this has never happened before... And you got brought to probably the worst place, since the tower is really dangerous."

"Hinoto-Ri was... fairly dangerous, as well." He'd been in the hospital for like a month or so, so he is well aware of that. "It'll most likely be fine." Unless he wastes his single revival necklace...but hey.

"Nothing like this has happened before in Hinoto-Ri either, however."

[technologic]

"Does Hinoto-Ri involve monsters that roam around constantly, places that are dangerous to your health and people in charge that toy with you in ways that could kill you? If so, then yeah, you should be... okay here." She sighs and shifts her rifle on her shoulder.

"... It hasn't? Guess this is a first for both of our, well, kidnapper places, I guess."

[technomaturgist]

"...We have roaming demons, and strange areas that have appeared recently... but not the last one. I... think." Philemon, really. He tilts his head at her - he noted the rifle. He himself has approximately 7 guns in various holsters on a series of tool belts around his waist.

He's prepared.

"I... suppose. We were summoned to Hinoto-Ri, we were told, to protect it." What was the point of summoning them here?
