Summary: Welcome to the Tower.

A few minutes before anything happens, Ruana's voice rings out over the Tower's intercom--it manages to be louder than anything the residents happen to be doing. "Hey, everyone, there's something exciting going on at floor fifty-six! Go make sure they don't get themselves killed!"

You arrive, stepping or tumbling, in a surgical suite. It looks abandoned, with dust collecting on the table and floors. The lights flicker, and for a moment blood dripping off the table, puddling on the floor--but no, the lights are back, and surely that was your imagination. It's quiet, eerily so, but nothing hinders you, and you're free to spread out and explore. There are multiple rooms here, like in any hospital, and it's all a bit confusing. Occasionally the lights flicker, and it's a bit frightening as Things appear that shouldn't exist. Shadowy creatures stitched together and reaching for you, doctors brandishing phantom surgical tools, blood splattering the walls or floor or ceiling, how did it get there--but none are real, and all of them vanish when the lights return. Eventually you find the staircase, spiraling up and down into darkness. Approach it, though, and the thing glitters with a barrier that will push back any attempts at climbing the thing.

A girl, a teenager dressed in red and black, appears. And she does simply appear, inserting herself into the space, nearly pushing it aside to make room in it for where she is now. Her face beams with unconcealed excitement, and her words tumble out on top of themselves. "You can't go there! Yet, I mean. You'd all die!"

The girl steps onto the staircase, passing through the barrier as if it weren't there, and sits on the steps to address everyone. "Hi! I'm Ruana. You didn't show up the normal way, so the Tower can't support you yet. We got this one floor ready when I saw you were coming but, well, the Tower's kind've big, so getting all of them set up is taking a little longer than I thought." She smiles, sheepishly apologetic in a carefree sort of way. "I've got everyone coming here to visit you--or at least they know they can visit you--and I'll have someone bring food up for you. It'll be oatmeal, and oatmeal is super boring, but you have to eat it, okay? Then you can have whatever you want! The cafeteria's down on the first floor if you get hungry. We should have everything ready in a few hours. I've gotta go help with that, so you guys wait here.

"Don't worry, the monsters can't get to this floor as long as that barrier is up."

And then she's gone, blinking out of existence. The barrier will remain for three hours.

[Another Link, like the many who had been here. But this was one of the people without collars.] Why were you in hospital mister Link? Were you sick?

[... This person looks about as old as he should look. Link blinks in surprise.]

Um... some bad people came and tried to hurt a lot of people. So I was helping people get away. I hurt my arm and my chest though. The doctors fixed it but it wasn't that long ago.

I'm glad your okay! Did you beat the bad people? [He had little doubt about that, Link was a hero he knew this.] Or where they really powerful bad people, like miss Ruana?

We beat a lot of them... but some people still got hurt.

[He frowns, and then there's a blue glow, Epona appearing at his side. Good horse best friend.]

[Romeo didn't like it when people got hurt, but it happened a lot.

And oh there's a horse. Romeo blinked and his face broke out into a huge smile] Wow is this your friend mister Link?

Uh-huh. Her name's Epona. She's one of my best friends!

[Yes. He has a horse for one of his best friends. It makes sense okay.]

Hello Epona! [It's fine, one of Romeo's best friends is a weasel. He understands.]

[Epona clip clops towards Romeo and nuzzles him - or tries to, because when she tries to make contact she just passes right through him.]

[Oh that was strange... Romeo tried to pat her again and then tilted his head.

And went over to touch Link. Just to make sure this wasn't a bad trick and all these people were actually here.]

[Link is solid. Epona disappears - it's a strain to keep her out too long, even if he does miss her a lot.]

... Huh?

[Why are you touching him?]

[He blinks again, but he really is used to strange things.] I'm check your not just a trick of the bad people. But I think your real.

I'm pretty sure I'm real.

[He's used to strange things too, it's okay.]

That's good. I'm real too! I'm Romeo, it's nice to meet you, mister Link!

It's nice to meet you too, Romeo! But um... you don't have to call me 'mister'.

Okay! [He might stumble but he's used to being told that by now. It's just always best to err on the side of caution. Some adults are Not Good.

But Link's always are.]

Do you know all of these people?

Um... not all of them. I know some of them, though. Most of them are really nice.

That's good! I'm glad they are nice!

Are the people here nice too?

Yes! There are some bad people but mostly everyone is really nice and friendly!

... What kind of bad people?

[He's supposed to fight the bad people. There will be no more bad people!]

People who like hurting other people or think it is fun. Some of them are good though and just pretending to be bad.

[He sighed] It's really confusing.

... I won't let them hurt people anymore.

[That's what heroes do, right?]

They are too bad. There were five mister Link's here before! All at the same time and even they all together couldn't stop them!

[Wait what.]

There were... what?

Well one of them wasn't really a mister Link, he was just a kid. Littler than me.
