A few minutes before anything happens, Ruana's voice rings out over the Tower's intercom--it manages to be louder than anything the residents happen to be doing. "Hey, everyone, there's something exciting going on at floor fifty-six! Go make sure they don't get themselves killed!"


You arrive, stepping or tumbling, in a surgical suite. It looks abandoned, with dust collecting on the table and floors. The lights flicker, and for a moment blood dripping off the table, puddling on the floor--but no, the lights are back, and surely that was your imagination. It's quiet, eerily so, but nothing hinders you, and you're free to spread out and explore. There are multiple rooms here, like in any hospital, and it's all a bit confusing. Occasionally the lights flicker, and it's a bit frightening as Things appear that shouldn't exist. Shadowy creatures stitched together and reaching for you, doctors brandishing phantom surgical tools, blood splattering the walls or floor or ceiling, how did it get there--but none are real, and all of them vanish when the lights return. Eventually you find the staircase, spiraling up and down into darkness. Approach it, though, and the thing glitters with a barrier that will push back any attempts at climbing the thing.

A girl, a teenager dressed in red and black, appears. And she does simply appear, inserting herself into the space, nearly pushing it aside to make room in it for where she is now. Her face beams with unconcealed excitement, and her words tumble out on top of themselves. "You can't go there! Yet, I mean. You'd all die!"

The girl steps onto the staircase, passing through the barrier as if it weren't there, and sits on the steps to address everyone. "Hi! I'm Ruana. You didn't show up the normal way, so the Tower can't support you yet. We got this one floor ready when I saw you were coming but, well, the Tower's kind've big, so getting all of them set up is taking a little longer than I thought." She smiles, sheepishly apologetic in a carefree sort of way. "I've got everyone coming here to visit you--or at least they know they can visit you--and I'll have someone bring food up for you. It'll be oatmeal, and oatmeal is super boring, but you have to eat it, okay? Then you can have whatever you want! The cafeteria's down on the first floor if you get hungry. We should have everything ready in a few hours. I've gotta go help with that, so you guys wait here.

"Don't worry, the monsters can't get to this floor as long as that barrier is up."

And then she's gone, blinking out of existence. The barrier will remain for three hours.

No sir. [Romeo shook his head] If he was dead he'd just come back. Just gone, the bad people say they are safe just on their worlds which are all dead.

[What?]

What do you mean the worlds are dead? And what do you mean by 'just come back'?

Well that's what the bad people say. And I've been there. To my world and it looked dead. But they might be lying sir. Because they're bad.

[He blinked confused for a moment and then remembered] You can't die here sir. You just wake up the next day. [It's gotten to the point that the idea that death is for any longer is beginning to sound strange to him.]

[drakenguard]

You just wake up the next day.

[Full revival? That was downright impossible... well, unless the body was relatively intact, and the head was fully attached - and revival occurred within five minutes of death. But otherwise...]

And there are no limits as to what you can come back from?

[He'll question the dead world bits later. The whole coming back from the dead sounded more pressing...!]

No. Well everyone's always come back before. Except when they haven't but the bad people said they disappeared not died. Mister Riki, he's one of the bad people, he made a person explode and they came back. And mister Jason chopped someone up and they came back too.

[His voice has lost the cheer, sounding sad as he told Yamato these things.]

[drakenguard]

[Impossible... that level of regeneration was impossible. There had to be an explanation. Perhaps they merely stocked up on cloned versions, and implanted memories? No, that sounded like the plot to a bad Sci-Fi film...]

Do you know how this is possible?

[myblueskies]

Magic technology. [Romeo answered without a pause for thought.] They are really bad and powerful.

[drakenguard]

Magic technology...

[Well magic had to be involved for something of this magnitude...]

You mention 'bad people' often. I presume they are the ones responsible for this impossible revival of corpses?

[myblueskies]

[Romeo nodded] They are and the ones that brought us here.

[drakenguard]

Tell me about them.

[After all, Yamato wouldn't want to walk into one unprepared, if they were as 'bad' as Romeo said]

Well miss Ruana is in charge, she is the baddest and I think the others are a bit scared of her. Mister Jason likes experiments and turning people into things, mister Riki makes all the floors, mister Dax is a bit better bit still a bad person and Zo is just a kid. I think he doesn't get a choice, he has to do what they say.

[drakenguard]

Ruana was the one who greeted us here.

[So she was the Big Bad, as Kaito would put it. This Jason guy didn't sound too good either. Avoid those two at all cost, then. The others sounded like small fry in comparison]

Hrm, thank you for you warnings, in any case. I will ensure to avoid them if I come across them.

She greeted you? [Romeo blinked] Good! Then you wont get as hurt!

[drakenguard]

Ah... is that how it works?

[She doesn't hurt or torture people she greets?]

Well if you hide from them you might not get hurt. It doesn't always work though because the people who aren't really people but might be actually people... the one's with red collars! They might come and get you anyways.

[drakenguard]

[The people who aren't people but are people huh wha]

I...I see. Red collars. People with red collars are dangerous, then?

[myblueskies]

Yes! And the ones with collars on what have no colour. They aren't as dangerous but still work for the bad people.

[drakenguard]

Then...what does your collar colour mean? That you are harmless?

[myblueskies]

Well it means I am one of the people the bad people captured. And orange means I got no powers, I think. [He was still a little confused about that, since Molly was a superhero with super strength and her collar had been orange too] The people with purple collars have lots of magic.

[Except miss France had had a purple collar and Romeo had never seen her do magic...]

[drakenguard]

[Orange for mundane, purple for spiritual. Yamato got it]

Red and colourless work for administrators, orange and purple represent those that were taken here. Correct?

Yep! And also yellow and green and blue and the other purple.
