Summary: Welcome to the Tower.

A few minutes before anything happens, Ruana's voice rings out over the Tower's intercom--it manages to be louder than anything the residents happen to be doing. "Hey, everyone, there's something exciting going on at floor fifty-six! Go make sure they don't get themselves killed!"


You arrive, stepping or tumbling, in a surgical suite. It looks abandoned, with dust collecting on the table and floors. The lights flicker, and for a moment blood dripping off the table, puddling on the floor--but no, the lights are back, and surely that was your imagination. It's quiet, eerily so, but nothing hinders you, and you're free to spread out and explore. There are multiple rooms here, like in any hospital, and it's all a bit confusing. Occasionally the lights flicker, and it's a bit frightening as Things appear that shouldn't exist. Shadowy creatures stitched together and reaching for you, doctors brandishing phantom surgical tools, blood splattering the walls or floor or ceiling, how did it get there--but none are real, and all of them vanish when the lights return. Eventually you find the staircase, spiraling up and down into darkness. Approach it, though, and the thing glitters with a barrier that will push back any attempts at climbing the thing.

A girl, a teenager dressed in red and black, appears. And she does simply appear, inserting herself into the space, nearly pushing it aside to make room in it for where she is now. Her face beams with unconcealed excitement, and her words tumble out on top of themselves. "You can't go there! Yet, I mean. You'd all die!"

The girl steps onto the staircase, passing through the barrier as if it weren't there, and sits on the steps to address everyone. "Hi! I'm Ruana. You didn't show up the normal way, so the Tower can't support you yet. We got this one floor ready when I saw you were coming but, well, the Tower's kind've big, so getting all of them set up is taking a little longer than I thought." She smiles, sheepishly apologetic in a carefree sort of way. "I've got everyone coming here to visit you--or at least they know they can visit you--and I'll have someone bring food up for you. It'll be oatmeal, and oatmeal is super boring, but you have to eat it, okay? Then you can have whatever you want! The cafeteria's down on the first floor if you get hungry. We should have everything ready in a few hours. I've gotta go help with that, so you guys wait here.

"Don't worry, the monsters can't get to this floor as long as that barrier is up."

And then she's gone, blinking out of existence. The barrier will remain for three hours.

Suzaku frowned and shook his head. "I wont leave you." His tone left no room for argument.

Selphie raised a brow slightly at that. She was sure that he must have better things to do with his time, but she wasn't going to argue. It was nice to have company. "Okay. I'm ready to walk a little more now."

He didn't really, most of his day was spent attempting to drag people out of trouble anyways. "Alright, take it easy."

"Mmhmm." Selphie nodded, really just wanting to run and sprint to show that she was completely fine. But she really wasn't, so her walk was a slow shuffled limp. "Nearly there?"

Suzaku nodded at her, "The elevator isn't too far." They could see it now.

[booyaka_boom]

"Al...right." But talking is effort too, and she knows that it belies just how hurt she really is. So she stayed quiet until they reached it. "Okay. Which floor?"

[swordofzero]

He was worried about her, but once she managed to eat she may feel stronger, and be able to heal, or they could find someone else to heal her. "First floor."

"What floor are we now?" At least once she was in there, Selphie pressed the button and was able to sit down on the floor to wait for it to move. Even just a minute relief from being on her feet helped.

Eighty one. But the elevator only stops on five floors altogether, still it will take about twenty minutes. [He sat down as well]

Wow... *Selphie looks up at the top of the elevator, looking around her then back to Suzaku* You guys must keep pretty fit, then!

[Suzaku nodded] We get plenty of exercise.

Selphie nodded back at him with a small smile. "I bet.."

He nodded, "So what is your city like?"

"My city? You mean the one I was in before I came here?" Selphie looked at him and shrugged slightly. She wasn't a big fan of it to be honest, "Hinoto-Ri is huge. And it's not the prettiest place I've ever been... It's okay, I guess."

Suzaku nodded, "Is it very different than where you came from?"

"Totally different! I travelled a lot, but I lived in a seaside town. Much smaller, and much prettier too. How about your world?"

[swordofzero]

"It sounds nice." Suzaku nodded again, "There is a lot of war in my world, I traveled a lot as well, but I mostly lived in Japan, if there is such a place in your world."

[booyaka_boom]

"Yeah, it is. It's really nice." Selphie frowned at what Suzaku said, giving a knowing nod - after all, her world had been the same before she showed up at Vatheon.

"There's no Japan in my world, but lots of my friends in Vatheon, the place I was in before Hinoto-Ri, they're from Japan."

[swordofzero]

Suzaku nodded, "There are many people here from Japan as well, but from different worlds."

[booyaka_boom]

"What?!" That didn't make sense. She'd met different people from Japan at different times, but never different worlds. "That's...just weird..."

[swordofzero]

"Really?" He shrugged, "there seem to be a few worlds with similar countries, sometimes with small differences sometimes with larger ones."

Selphie thought about this, trying to make sense of it as she looks up at the roof of the elevator, "Huh..."

"In my world... Japan was invaded by a country called Britannia. No one here apart from those from my world have ever heard of them."

[booyaka_boom]

"Britannia..." Selphie repeats the word and shakes her head, "Nope. Can't say I've ever heard of that one." Though she had learned about a whole bunch of new countries and places.

"It's an empire in my world, covers half the globe including Japan." He told her quietly.
