[OPEN] The cake is a lie

Setting: Cafeteria's kitchen.
Format: Action.
Summary: ...in which Eridan tries his hand at the arcane, mystic majicks of baking for the sake of his matesprit. It goes as well as you'd expect.
Warnings: FLOUR. FLOUR AND BUTTER EVERYWHERE.

[...well. That sure just happened.

Eridan blinks slowly, as the cloud of white slowly descends onto the floor. He'd never known bags of flour were even explosive. Like. Okay. Maybe he'd tugged a little too hard. Maybe. But that's not a good enough reason for it to explode on his face. The recipe he was working off from didn't say anything about exploding bags of flour.

He just stands there for a moment, W E L P all but written all over his face. Somehow, he thinks, this little project might turn out to be a little more complicated than anticipated.]

That's pretty cool, actually. You must have a lot of friends.

Well, I try to. After all, if you have a lot of friends, you're never lonely, even if some vanish, and even if your family is gone.

[chronomancer]

Wouldn't that make it worse? The more you have, the more you can lose.

[tohko_amano]

Not really. After all, I don't tend to lose many often..and the more I have..the more can help me move on, if that makes any sense.

[chronomancer]

...I guess you're lucky.

[Bitter? Him? Of course not, perish the thought.]

I suppose..but you're probably lucky in your own ways too! I'm sure of it!

..And if you'd like, I'll be a friend for you too.

[chronomancer]

...oh.

[He stares at her a little, not quite sure how to handle that.]

...that's nice of you.

[tohko_amano]

..I suppose..but you know..even if you had a lot of friends, I'd still want to be your friend. Just so you don't get the wrong idea about this. I'm not trying to do something out of pity. That'd be cruel.

[chronomancer]

[Eridan gave her an odd look and then snorted acidly.]

That'd also get you hurt. You're not my type, sorry.

[tohko_amano]

[Have a puzzled look, Eridan.]

..I imagine it would..but why did you get the impression that I was trying to pick you up?

[chronomancer]

[Eridan snorts.]

Because trolls do romance through pity or hate.

[He arched an eyebrow.]

You should be careful how you use those words around trolls, or you might end up getting in trouble.

[tohko_amano]

[And Tohko looked a little flustered at that..but apologetic.]

Oh, I'm sorry! This is my first time talking with a troll, so I didn't know. I'll keep that in mind for later..but again, I didn't say anything out of pity. I was being sincere!

[chronomancer]

I can tell.

[He shrugs.]

It's okay, I'm not taking offence.

[He's just a cranky bitch.]

[At that, Tohko sighed.]

..I'm glad you're not..but really, I'll try to not mess that up in the future. I wouldn't want to give people the wrong ideas.

Admittedly, it would be kinda funny. And I can list of at least three movies with that as a plotpoint, too.

[He shakes his head.]

[Tohko couldn't help but chuckle at that.]

And I remember quite a few stories with misunderstandings about relationships. However, I never really wanted to end up in those tales.

[chronomancer]

Heh. I guess it's not really the kind of thing one would want to star in, huh?

[tohko_amano]

Well, I'm sure a few people would, but I've always wanted to have a role in a fantasy story! I've always enjoyed them, ever since I was little.

[chronomancer]

Oh?

[Hey, he looks genuinely interested!]

What kind of fantasy?

[tohko_amano]

[At that question, Tohko smiles, thinking about all the different fantasy stories she's read over the years.]

Oh..there are so many delicious ones. If you ignore the last book, The Chronicles of Narnia isn't bad, and neither is Harry Potter..but you know, if I had to choose, it would be something like The Phantom Tollbooth, Brave Story, or even The Master and Margarita!

[chronomancer]

[He nods along, pretending he has any idea what the hell she's talking about.]

You read a lot, huh.

[tohko_amano]

Of course! I wouldn't be a book girl if I didn't!

[And now, a dangerous question.]

Have you read any of those books?

[chronomancer]

Not really.

[He shrugs.]

I'm more of a movie person, really.

[tohko_amano]

Well, there's nothing wrong with that. Movies can have lots of wonderful stories too! I don't watch them a lot, but I do enjoy them.

[chronomancer]

Let me guess, you just love stories.

[He can't decide if he's morbidly fascinated or what.]
