Summary: Terezi revives and finds herself in her room, then goes searching for Vriska.
Warnings: Angst!

[Terezi wakes up on her bed, and when she finds she can't move, she isn't quite as surprised as she was the first time it happened.

But this time, it lasts longer. Much longer, in fact. And just when she feels uneasy begin to gnaw at her, she hears a stomach turningly familiar crackle of energy at the foot of her bed. She can't see, of course, or turn her head, but she smells the sharp scent of limes and canine and oil that is so uniquely Jack, and she knows.

Uneasy turns to full on panic, and she struggles to move, but she can't even twitch a finger. She senses him regarding her coldly as he raises his sword, and in a way she can't understand, she knows he's not going to just kill her. He's going to play with her before she dies, he's going to make her suffer, and there's absolutely nothing she can do. She's going to die again, ten times more pathetically this time, and all she can do is close her eyes and focus on the sound of blood roaring in her ears.

And then suddenly the paralysis breaks and she can move again. Terezi scrambles up, pressing herself against the headboard and reaching for a sword that isn't there, only to find that Jack is gone. She freezes for a moment, gulping in deep breaths, but she can't smell him anymore. It's like he was never there at all.

She practically vaults off the bed in her desperation to get to the door and slams it shut behind her, struggling to catch her breath as she leans against it.]

[It doesn't take long for Terezi to find out what's happened to Bluekat and the others, and she pretty much sprints for the infirmary. When she arrives, what she finds doesn't make her feel much better.

Karkat looks absolutely horrible, and he's unconscious. She can smell the cerulean blood pooled close under his skin. And Vriska is right next to him. Terezi feels a sudden surge of hatred, more intense than anything she's ever felt before. Vriska is not nearly hurt enough. Terezi can change that.

She crosses the room in a few quick strides, reaching out for the front of Vriska's stupid fruity godhood and trying to slam her against the wall.]

What the fuck is wrong with you?

[Vriska winces, limbs sore and sluggish. She doesn't have time to avoid Terezi's attack, and she just grunts when her back connects with the wall. Damn it, she wasn't ready to face her yet. She still feels sick about the whole ordeal yesterday.

But she won't let that show. That's weakness. She forces a smirk, cocking her head to the side.]

What's that? Mad that I got the best of you, Pyrope?

[Terezi can't take it anymore. She hauls her fist back and punches Vriska in the face.]

Shut up!

[Her head snaps to the side sharply, and cerulean floods into her mouth from her teeth scraping against the inside of her cheek. She scrambles against her grip, fingers clawing at Terezi's wrist.]

It's your fault, you know! Maybe if you'd be better at being my dumb watchbeast, none of this would have happened!

Do you seriously have to do this right now?

[The groan came from the bed, one hand pressed against his temples as he glanced at the two squabbling females. All that yelling had woken him up.]

You two really suck at keeping promises.

[It takes every ounce of willpower Terezi has to let Vriska go. When she does she turns and heads for the bed, acting for all the world like Vriska doesn't exist. Terezi knows that will piss her off just as much. She has no idea what to say to Karkat, though, so there's a long pause.]

...I'm sorry.

[Vriska lets out a breath she hadn't thought she'd been holding, and sinks back into the chair, glaring at Terezi's back like it would make her stop feeling like shit for everything she did yesterday.

Maybe she'd spontaneously combust. Yeah, that'd be awesome. She should probably apologize, but she can't do it with Terezi there. Hell, she probably couldn't even do it without her there.]

Ugh whatever. Terezi started it.

[He's forced to lower his voice because it hurts to even breathe, closing both eyes momentarily before forcing himself to release his head and glance over at them more readily.]

You both look like shit, by the way.

[She frowns, sitting on the bed beside him.]

So do you.

[She shoots a glance in Vriska's direction.]

Why are you still here?

[She turns her attention back to Karkat, frowning.]

How are you feeling?

[She resigns herself to sinking deeply into the chair, totally not sulking. And picks at the bandages again, scratching at the wounds beneath them.]

Death and dying, to be honest.

[But he manages a light smirk in her direction anyway.]

[Terezi forces a smile back and links her arm through his uninjured one. There's no way she's going to talk openly in front of Vriska.]

I am going to have to decorate your cast for you.

[Just keeping quiet for now. She should leave, but it'd be like Terezi winning or something. And she just can't let it happen. And she just can't ditch Karkat with those wounds she'd caused.

Ugh. It'd be better if she didn't feel the need to stay there for pride's sake.]

[He recognizes that, but in doing so, something else seems to come to light in his head -- almost like a switch.

Karkat takes the moment to look at Vriska, forcing himself to sit up as best he can. He's rewarded with a stab of pain and a flinch for his efforts.]

Where's Vantas?

[Terezi snaps to attention, feeling another rush of panic.]

Why?

How the hell should I know? You act like I've left this room at all since I got here!

Not that you'd know, since you passed out like a wriggler.

[All she gets is dead-eyes in her direction.]

S'cuse me, princess. I wasn't aware you gave that much of a shit.

[He simply rests his hand on Terezi's arm.]

He's fine. He helped her get me down here. Or at least, I'm pretty sure he did. She's not wrong about that last part.

[Terezi relaxes, though she's still glaring in Vriska's direction.]

I just saw him. He was fine.

[She can't focus on Vriska too long. It's making her blood boil. So she goes back to ignoring her and turns her attention to Karkat.]

What happened?

[Vriska rolls her eyes, biting back a nasty comment that would probably start another fight.

Except she can't hold it for long.]

Isn't it obvious? He got his ass kicked.

[He manages to turn his eyes away from both Vriska and Terezi when Vriska comes out with that next statement. She wasn't wrong, after all, but damn it was certainly a kick to his pride's shameglobes.

So his eyelids simply lower, slightly disheartened, slightly agitated.]

Shut the fuck up, Vriska.

[God, why is she even still here? Terezi is going to punch her again in about five seconds, but for now she just rests her head on Karkat's shoulder. It's the best she can do. She doesn't know how to fix any of this.]

[She huffs, crossing her arms.]
