maybe there's nothing
Characters: Makoto Naegi and OPEN
Setting: Dorm Floors
Format: bracketspam!
Summary: He's tired, he just wanted to sleep.
Warnings: Suicidal thoughts, possible death.
[Spring // Everywhere]
[Maizono-san left.
Again.
To him, this chilling rain fit his current mood all too well as he just stood there in the hallways, trudging through silently as he did nothing of sorts to even protect himself. In fact, he was too tired that the only thing he could do was to walk on and try to get his bearings together. February and March at this point, could go to hell for all he care- but that'd be too strong a word for him, hell.
But it's really fitting, since this tower could be comparable to that.
His thoughts were interrupted as he collapsed on a heap, exhaustion, hunger and the cold finally getting to him as he just lied there on the ground, looking as if he's about to die.]

it's okay we all do that sometimes /o/
[There's just a nod as he said that.]
The ground seemed comfortable, though.

[He puts one hand on each of Naegi's shoulders, squeezing firmly. Never mind how dangerously he himself has been toeing the line between Hope and Despair since February. Never mind that he's had his own doubts about pretending he's suited for any kind of leadership position here, or that there's even anything to work toward anymore. It's still second-nature for him to try and keep up morale when he can, no matter what his own feelings are.]
These bodies may not be our own, but you should not treat yours so carelessly.

[Could they even die? Is dying a word to describe the process of having their bodies replaced? Those are questions he really wanted to ask to someone, but he choked it down.
It wouldn't do to ask that to Ishimaru, who is currently trying to help him up.
He doesn't want to impose any more on the teen after all.]

[He just stares at Naegi for a long moment, barefuly feeling the rain running down his face anymore at this point.]
...Death really is that meaningless here, isn't it?
[It's a thought he'd been ignoring this whole time, but suddenly he just can't hold it back anymore. His words sting like bile and he regrets everything as soon as he says it, but he can't stop now.]
Without a meaning to death, our lives don't have one either. Even in Hope's Peak... no, especially in Hope's Peak, every moment was so precious because it could have been taken away for good! But here, it's as though there isn't a point, is there? It is truly a meaningless existence...! There isn't even any future to work toward!
[He bows his head, shoulders shaking. Getting it all out doesn't feel better after all. Ah, this isn't any good at all... This is the opposite of keeping up morale... What good is he?!]
...WHY YOU GOTTA DO THIS TO MY HEART
"You taught me something important! From now on, I shall call you "sensei" out of respect!"
Ah, that's right, he respected him, didn't he; the Super High School Level Hall Monitor respected him, just like everyone else he befriended, he... let him down. The memories he got from Oogami-san was definitely fragmented, but he certainly knew the male ended up lying face-down, dead from a head wound.
It was just as bad as seeing his crying figure. No, in fact, the figure here seemed even more painful to look at than his corpse.
It's a far cry from his strict, cheerful self, Naegi thought to himself as rain continued to hit the both of them in the middle of this hallway.
A moment, that was all he needed before he hung his head down.]
I'm...
[And in return for the gesture the boy did for him, he reached up and grabbed the other male's shoulders instead.
Tall, that is what the other person is, and he's going to make sure that at the very least, even if Makoto Naegi's completely left behind.
That the person known as Kiyotaka Ishimaru would at least stand tall against whatever comes at him.]
I'm sure we can find a way out of this!
[The word came out more strongly than he intended, it was more of a yell rather than a determined statement.]
Ishimaru exists in Animus just to break hearts. JUST LIKE CANON... 1/2
[His mind is shrouded with so many doubts, even in Naegi. Naegi, who had become someone he felt he could confide to for nearly anything. Naegi, who had taught him so much about people in such a short amount of time. Naegi, who seemed to have the uncanny ability to fine the hope and truth in everything.
...Naegi, who had been in such a state of despair just moments ago.
Hearing him manage words of optimism is enough for Ishimaru to keep from voicing his doubts, though they persist silently. It's just enough for him to know that Naegi is not completely lost like he is... or so he can pretend.]

Then I have confidence that we will.
[Lying... hurts. But he'll endure it for Naegi's sake.]

...Come on, let's... find someplace to use as a shelter.
no subject
Right. The issue is finding someplace that is high enough from the ground not to flood and that also has cover from the rain above...
[He puts a fist to his chin.]
There is a... tower within this Tower, many floors down.
no subject
...A tower within a tower...yeah, there was something like that wasn't it.
[He couldn't check his notebook, it was left in a safe place when the rain started, which left him partly clueless on some of the floors.]
no subject
It... was one of the higher floors. I'm sure of it. Do you think that we should try the elevators? If it's raining inside them, we could drown on the way, but the stairs are also dangerous...
no subject
[Sides, getting mauled by monsters will be quicker than drowning.]

[AND THEY'RE OFF.]
