Summary: Finally, all three people who were contacted after Dax's death will meet. Plotting ensues.

The letters had been sent. Now, all there was, was to wait. Enoch, and possibly one or two others, was there already, sitting at the far end of the room so they couldn't be heard through the door, sitting up straight and a hand resting on his knee as he waited for the others. His leadership potential often went unused, Enoch being the submissive type, content with the role of the follower. But he would have been next in line for his father's priesthood, a leader role of sorts - he could and would take the lead if he had to.

"Before I tell you...this matter is a very sensitive one. We can't let our hosts hear of it. Will you swear on our blood to keep what is discussed here among the ones discussing it?"

Enoch would normally be more open with Naoya. But he would be a fool to ignore that they were on two different sides of a divide, however reversed the sides may be between their worlds. He needed to take everything into account when it came to this.

"Hehe. As if I'm going to go running to them about what's happening. And as if I'd run to any... other parties involved. And swearing on our blood means nothing, really - our blood runs through everyone alive. Or the majority of them, at least. But yes, I promise to keep it under wraps."

He thinks for a moment, before speaking again.

"I have some sensitive information you may be interested in as well, so I'd ask you to make the same promise. It's information that may result in... unfortunate circumstances, should it leak. So as much as I'd have something to hold over you, you would have something to hold over me."

"I accept it. Not out of something that we hold against one another, but because we may be able to use it if we need it."

In the end, they were after the same thing: information for the sake of progress. Enoch just had a different way of prioritizing it.

"And...because we are family, regardless of anything else." That was what a vow of blood really meant anyway. His own blood was probably all over the place just by the amount of time he'd been on Earth and the places he'd traveled, and the way he tended to wind up with gratitude, and such while being nominally unmarried...

It was how close they were, or how close Enoch was to Naoya's original blood.

"Heh." Family they might be, blood kin they might be, but he still didn't completely trust Enoch. He couldn't. There really was no one he could trust completely anymore, but he'd accepted it.

"You first, then."

"The actual meeting is in half an hour. Three of us were sent letters from Dax meant to be sent in case of his death, telling us he had hidden information for us to find. We're going to discuss this here."

And hopefully not wind up with too many people knowing about it. The more people in the know, the higher the chances of it reaching the wrong ears. But he trusted Naoya would be true to his word even if he didn't take a blood vow seriously. There was this exchange of information, after all, and Enoch didn't feel his ancestor would lie to him.

"What do you have to share, great-uncle?"

"... I see."

Interesting. Logically, he would send it to people whom he believed had the best chance of recovering it...

"The goal of that... period where people were dragged into that dark world was not simply to test people. It was to distract them while a group of us descended to the administrative levels. I can't say for certain what was found there, as I was not part of the group that went down, but I was part of the force that hacked open the access panels. Therefore... if you need to descend to those levels... I can help you. As long as news of my assistance isn't spread around."

He pauses to think for a moment.

"Ganondorf... he is a man who has a great deal of power, but his methods leave things out. He is too prideful, and while he does make sure to look at all areas of his plan, he underestimates the capacity of people to fight back. They will not be crushed and cowed so easily."

How disappointed Naoya would be to find it was simply those who had offered to help him...

"That is one of the reasons I chose you as one of my companions here, aside from our bond. You have that skill. I'd be grateful to you if you did."

Enoch falls silent again as Naoya talks about Ganondorf. He doesn't know the face that goes with that name - or rather doesn't know to attach that name to that face - but something bothers him about the way Naoya's worded his description...he linked Ganondorf's plans to the idea of people fighting back.

"Does he do that as someone expecting to watch us be crushed, or as one who expects to be the one crushing us?"

"I think he'd like to crush people, but he won't be too disappointed if they get crushed without him being directly involved."

He shakes his head a bit.

"I believe that he is acting partially out of a sense of rivalry with Princess Zelda. They have some history, though I'm not entirely clear on what it is."

Oh. A rivalry with a princess, that puts things in perspective. The image Enoch has in his mind now is of a neighboring ruler, tyrannical and power-mad.

"So he is to be kept away from this...if he lets this rivalry interfere with our situation..."

That's more or less accurate from what Naoya can tell.

"And he will. I believe it's partially political and partially something to do with some sort of power from their world. Again, you'd be better off asking her for information. It's not as if he's let me analyze his powers."

"I think I will...she'll be part of this meeting, as well."

Another smile at Naoya, then. "Thank you for agreeing to come. I know the note was worded vaguely..." And he called for him to arrive half an hour early...

"Hehe... well, if it was a trap, it would at least have been something new, possibly. But it's fine. I understand the need to be vague at times."

After all, he'd just done the same to Ryoji.
