Summary: Finally, all three people who were contacted after Dax's death will meet. Plotting ensues.

The letters had been sent. Now, all there was, was to wait. Enoch, and possibly one or two others, was there already, sitting at the far end of the room so they couldn't be heard through the door, sitting up straight and a hand resting on his knee as he waited for the others. His leadership potential often went unused, Enoch being the submissive type, content with the role of the follower. But he would have been next in line for his father's priesthood, a leader role of sorts - he could and would take the lead if he had to.

Enoch hadn't had much experience with such extremely high humidity save brief forays into some tropics so near the beginning of his search he doesn't even remember them. Experiences within memory were limited to Zo's little mistake and this very sauna.

But he would be taking note of that.

"If you say so. I'll have to remember that for later, myself."

Tohko didn't know that he had found some tropics during the beginning of his search, but she didn't think that he had modern bathtubs that could get really hot if you adjusted the heat properly.

However, she did smile and nod at that.

"You should! I'll be helpful if you want to come in here later and jot down a few notes or ideas to plan things out."

He had used modern bathtubs in Meridian...but Meridian had no working heat for its water supply.

"Zo didn't return my empty notebooks. I'll need to request more of him..."

He didn't blame Zo - the way he'd only grabbed the ones with writing in them, he thought the boy must have assumed they weren't important, and focused on other things that other people had lost...

At that, Tohko sighed and scratched her head. Zo hadn't returned all of the books that had been damaged by the rain, so even though Enoch had only lost empty notebooks, that was still a sad loss. After all, empty notebooks could be very useful.

"I'm sorry to hear that..I'll try to request some next time too. If I manage to get any, I'll give a few to you."

"That's kind of you, but you should keep the books you get...you have more use for them than I do."

After all, the more blank paper she had, the more space she had to transcribe what she ate instead of actually tearing pages out of books...

Not that Tohko was one to just tear out random pages and leave the rest of the book. If she ate a book, she would eat the whole thing, start to finish. However, at that comment, she looked a little puzzled.

"I think, at this point, we both have an equal need for them, so don't worry about it! It's alright."

Not that that was any better, as far as Enoch was concerned...

"No...I don't need them to eat without destroying books. I'll be fine with whatever I receive."

It wasn't like Tohko chose to not taste normal food. She didn't like the destruction or defacing of books either, but in her case..it was either that or sand.

Tohko paused for a moment, checking with her eyes to see whether anyone was close by to have heard that comment. When she saw that no one was, she mentally breathed a sigh of relief.

"..Enoch, the library replaces whatever books are destroyed, so don't worry. Even if you'll get nothing, I would still like to try and help out."

That's what her notebooks are for...and from the way he glances away, her reassurance is worth nothing.

"...you should still transcribe passages you want to use later."

He did, at least, correct himself into using vague terms. The others seemed distracted by their own conversations or thoughts... Everyone made mistakes, after all.

..And here Tohko had thought that they had mostly worked past the problem of her diet. Apparently not. However, Tohko did know that Enoch hadn't used vague terms at first on purpose. It was just a slip of the tongue, like she sometimes made.

"..It's alright. If I use one book, I usually don't want to use it again until much later. After all, if you had a choice, you wouldn't want to eat the same thing day after day, hour after hour."

"But if you want to use those analogies, you wouldn't eat a feast all at once... As I said, why not only copy what you want to read, if you'd prefer to leave the books for other people to easily get to?"

They had - mostly. But it was never going to be cleared up entirely. It was part of the way Enoch was, and the culture he was raised in, the duty he was assigned, both by lineage and Heaven. He liked that she transcribed what she wanted to eat, but he wished she did it all the time...

...all the same, the feeling of unease itself made him uneasy. After all, the impression was indelibly linked with the urge to kill. It was the immediate thought he'd first had when he'd learned of it...

Perhaps that was why it seemed cleared, when in fact such a thing was impossible.

Actually, she only transcribed handwritten things that she wanted to keep for later, like the pieces of Enoch's own story and Armaros's story. After all, it wasn't like she was back in her own book club where she could give the same prompts to Konoha and enjoy the story, even if it was different. The past was important..and handwritten stories, like the one Romeo gave her, couldn't be rewritten the same way, or even at all sometimes.

Maybe, in hindsight, it was for the best that her love letter hadn't gone over so well. Enoch could have killed her for eating books, but it would only worsen their relationship-even break it.

"..One book can be a whole feast, Enoch. And sometimes copying things in a book makes the flavor less intense."

The urge to kill had come from that costume - it wasn't as if he'd do it in a normal state of mind. The point was it was now tied up in that moment of a loss of what he believed made him human. So the discomfort he felt when it came to her harming books itself made him uncomfortable...

He didn't want to say she had a spoiled palate. He wouldn't argue this, wouldn't keep this feeling close.

Instead, his lack of answer was an answer in its own awkwardly silent way.

"...Do as you will," he said at last. "But please, keep whatever notebooks you receive."

Not that it wouldn't have been something she had heard before. Konoha had sometimes nagged her about this..and it was true that she was a glutton when it came to her precious books. Of course, she never really mentioned it.

..But..the silence was even worse than an actual scolding, and she was both relieved when he finally spoke and..kind of sad that his 'Do as you will' sounded like he was just..brushing her off and giving up on her. She sighed.

"..We'll see..this is, of course, assuming we manage to get any from the Administrators."

"We will, eventually. Zo seems cooperative."

Giving up on her, herself, not so much. It was the argument itself he was brushing aside...

But the atmosphere in the room was alien to him in a way that was highly uncomfortable, and he had foregone changing out for a towel in favor of keeping his jeans on for the sake of others' sensibilities. He had no idea who might show up and how sensitive they were. The heat was getting to him, a little.

The change in topic did some good to the atmosphere of the conversation, and Tohko smiled at it. Tohko didn't really like extreme heat, but she was still wearing her usual schoolgirl uniform and putting up with it. After all, it wasn't like it would kill her, and the drought earlier had been much, much worse.

"That's true..the others may not help out, but Zo might be able to sneak us a few volumes..hopefully."
