Summary: Alucard's arrival has not made him happy.
Warnings: Thread is set at night. Monster attacks are a strong possibility.

This floor had a meadow. It was strangely pleasant, even in the darkness. But he was a stranger in this place and found himself on guard as he wandered the floor. He was not alone. He could see shadows moving in the distance. Nothing he couldn't handle, he told himself. Nothing that he couldn't destroy. Alucard had killed everything that his father had thrown at him. He'd easily do it again and again. Let the creatures lurking in the shadows come! He welcomed the challenge, anything to take his mind off of the fact that he was trapped in a foreign land. Kidnapped against his will.

The man would not allow himself to calm down. He wouldn't be contained. His father had made that mistake, hadn't he? And now, according to the people who had trapped Alucard here, he was dead. For good. He wouldn't believe it until he had absolute proof. After all, much of what he had seen so far indicated that he was being tricked. The large metal boxes with images on them were just one example of things that he wanted absolutely nothing to do with.

Though he had seen from the dormitories that there were many, many people in the tower itself, Alucard had noticed that there didn't seem to be any other people around. It was strange, especially for such a peaceful looking meadow. The only thing that he could hear was something that sounded like vague shuffling of bushes in the distance.

"Who's there?" he growled sharply.

The bird did not seem like it wanted her, or Alucard, anywhere near it. It let out another angry screech, eyes flashing between the two of them, as if to warn the two of them to stay away. "Perhaps light magic would be a better option," Alucard said, taking a step forward, not wanting Tohko to be injured.

Not that Tohko really minded whether she got injured. Death was one thing. Injury was quite another. However, she did stop and try to call out calmly to the bird before replying to Alucard.

"Sadly, I don't know any light magic. Do you?"

"No," Alucard replied rather quietly. Had he? He couldn't quite recall.

Meanwhile, the bird thrashed its head violently, legs digging at the ground in a definite warning.

"Then we're going to just have to help the bird with our mundane skills."

As the bird thrashed about and kicked at the ground, Tohko took a few steps back and to the side, trying to make herself look smaller. Maybe if she did that, then the bird would think that she was a less of a threat.

Even with the two of them trying to help it, it seemed that the bird did not want anything to do with them. It was probably the pain it was in that kept the bird from fleeing as it made a violent move towards Alucard. Its gaze flickered between him and Tohko, continuing to put on as threatening of a display as it could while still being badly mangled.

Tohko took a step back when the bird attacked again, but she did call out to Alucard.

"Alucard, are you alright?"

Alright..it was just close enough to bandage..if only she could get it to see that bandages weren't a threat. Carefully, Tohko held them out for the bird to inspect.

"It's alright..we're not going to hurt you."

He had not been able to move out of the way in time. Clutching at where the bird had attacked him, he tried not to look at the sticky red blood that was oozing out of the injury. Watching the bird, he stepped out of the way. "Be careful," he murmured. He would be fine. It wasn't like he could die, not from this, but at the same time, Tohko could very well be seriously injured.

"Don't worry, I'll be.."

Tohko was going to say that she was going to be fine..but then she saw how badly Alucard was injured.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Here..there should be enough gauze for you too."

Carefully, Tohko tried to walk over to Alucard and give him the gauze without further annoying the bird.

He accepted the gauze, patching himself up. More than likely, he would heal fast, though he couldn't entire be sure. "Thank you," he said, grateful both for the bandage and for the fact that the bird was now slowly backing away from them.

He probably would heal quickly, but Tohko didn't know of that. She nodded, looking at the bird again and sighing.

"You're welcome.."

How to get to the bird without scaring it?

The bird was a fearsome creature. Had it not been in such bad shape, Alucard was sure that it would be beautiful, but because of the condition that it was in, he wasn't sure how it was still alive and capable of attacking. Maybe he could find some sort of fruit in the meadow. Strawberries, maybe. That seemed like something that it might like, right?

Strawberries might be something that it enjoyed..thankfully, Tohko had a similar idea, even though it would probably fail.

"Do you think you could try and tend to it? If I got some food from the cafeteria, it might be a bit kinder to us."

"I can try," Alucard said, still watching the bird carefully. It didn't seem to be wanting to go anywhere, though he was certain that if he got near it, he would be attacked again. It was probably the fact that the creature was so injured that it was trying to attack him, and he was now fighting the instinct to attack it himself to replenish his split blood.

Tohko nodded and carefully put the first aid kit by Alucard's feet.

"Thank you. Be careful, alright?"

The warning was probably unnecessary, but that didn't mean Tohko wasn't going to give it. Quickly, she ran to the stairs and headed down again, hoping she could quickly get to the cafeteria.

He moved cautiously, trying to approach the bird once again, which instantly made an angry noise at him, but even so, Alucard approached, trying to move close enough to bandage the wounded bird. This was a dangerous thing for him to be doing. He didn't want to kill the beast, but the injury on his side was making it difficult.

There wasn't much in the cafeteria, but Tohko didn't really care. If she had to improvise, then so be it. Quickly, she unwrapped some nutrition bars, crushed them all into a bowl, and ran back upstairs carrying it. Hopefully she would be in time..and hopefully both Alucard and the bird would be alright.

So far, the bird hasn't made another move to attack him, but Alucard's hand is shaking. He can't move closer to try and tend to it for fear of attacking the bleeding creature. It's an awful feeling for him, but he's currently fighting the urge.

Tohko noticed that Alucard's hand was shaking, so she looked rather concerned as she put the bowl down near the bird and backed off again.

"Are you alright? What's wrong?"

He shakes his head violently, snapping out of his stupor. "It's nothing," he said quickly. Worried about what he could do now to hurt to creature.

While the bird kept watching them, it did slowly approach the bowl, calling out at the both of them as it did.

At Alucard, Tohko sighed. "Alright then..but if you're in pain, please, use the first aid kit, alright?"

He was still worried about the bird attacking them, but he wasn't about to go near it now. He was a threat to it at the moment, and the last thing he wanted to do was frighten the poor girl. It was fortunate that his warrior's discipline was as deeply ingrained as it was. "I'll be fine," he assured her.

It wasn't that Tohko was scared..she was just worried about the man. After all, an arm gash wasn't that good. However, at his assurance, she sighed and nodded, holding out her hand for the first-aid kit.

"Good..I'm glad to hear it. I'll try to patch it up while it's still eating."

He handed her the first aid kit, watching the bird a little uncertainly. Right now, it seemed content with the food, but it was still a wild animal, and one that was badly injured. "Be careful," he said quietly, now wanting to stand back so he could avoid injuring the bird, and also move Tohko out of the way if it started to become obvious that things were going to go south.

Tohko nodded as she took the kit and replied to Alucard. "Don't worry..I'll be fine."

Slowly, she started to approach the bird, ready to jump out of the way at a moments notice if the bird decided to charge her.

He nodded, hoping that she was right. The bird seemed rather content with the current distraction, but there was no telling how the bird would react to him or her when its food ran out. Still, he figured that he would be able to fend off the bird long enough for Tohko to get away, though with her confidence he hoped that it wouldn't come to that.
