Summary: The siren's call of real food has drawn someone out of his post-event hiding place.

[He's done a good job of making himself missing the last week and a half, holed up in a back corner of the library with a beanbag and as many books as he can carry. It's actually a bit of a surprise when the new month comes around, bringing with it food other than Jason's nutrition bars, and that, ultimately, is what draws him away from the standard part of the cafeteria and back into the kitchens. It definitely seems to have put him in a better mood - he's more animated than he's been in a while as he looks through the cupboards and large refrigerator.

Before long, he's got a pot of water boiling for tea and a selection of chicken breast on the cutting board, a knife in hand as he trims away fat and chops the chicken into smaller pieces. Maybe if you approach him, he'll make your something that isn't covered in flowers.

But don't count on it.]

I was just going to fry up the chicken with that orange sauce. Nothing too complicated.

[He doesn't quite have the energy for something complicated yet. The baking will have to wait.]

[She's curious. Maybe she can figure out a bit how to do it herself, since cooking lesson opportunities have been sporadic at best.]

[He looks a little surprised. Then again - she's a replica, she's no doubt not nearly the age that she looks, and the age she looks is pretty young to begin with.]

[There's enough chicken for two or three people, just in case, although she's not really the replica he would have expected to show up to his cooking.]

[There's no mistaking the quick flash of gratitude across her face. She actually turns away for a moment, but returns soon enough with a chair. She slides into it, crossing her arms on the counter and resting her chin on them.]

I've never really learned how to cook or anything like that. Reno would cook for us sometimes, before he left.

[Unfortunately we must now pause in the course of chicken-chopping to get a frying pan and some oil out of the cupboards. He rinses his hands first.]

Actually making a sauce is complicated, but just throwing some meat into it like this is fairly simple. Just make sure it's cooked all the way through.

[She lifts her head up, frowning a little thoughtfully. She's taking the lesson pretty seriously, at least. The idea of good food whenever you want it and have ingredients is a tempting prospect.]

How do you make sure it's cooked all the way?

Raw chicken is translucent.

[Straight to the point - he nudges a piece with the end of the utensil he's using to draw her eyes to the raw portion.]

If the meat is starting to get a bit golden on the outside, it's usually cooked through, but you should take a larger piece and cut it open just to be sure.
