Finally, another party

Format: Anything goes
Summary: Lancer throws his brother a party. Everyone can come except for the Archer (meaning they can come crash the party anyways)! Feel free to tag into any of the threads set up or invent your own scenario.
Warnings: None yet!

[It had taken some preparing, but the party was finally set up in a satisfactory way. There was a table for food and drink dragged in from the cafeteria, a wooden bucket filled with water with fruit floating in it, a strange paper mache Jason head pinata stacked on a scarecrow body, and a board with a pig with a Ganon head scribbled on it along with several spiraling paper "tails" attached to thumbtacks. There are no party decorations, but Lancer figures the flowers and sunshine should be decoration enough.]

[Now it's just a matter of waiting for people to show up.]

Yes, the banana is the long yellow one.

[He watches as the boy tries again, taking the same position as he had before so that there is no risk of him falling.]

You can do it! Don't give up!

[Romeo never gave up! And he chased the banana around the tub determinedly, finely catching hold of it and sitting up with a triumphant grin.] I did it!!

[Diarmuid reaches out to lightly ruffle the boy's hair.]

The nice thing about this game is if you work up an appetite while playing you can always eat the fruit once you are done!

[He grins at that, wiping the water from his face.] Wouldn't mister Lancer mind?

Nah, I don't think my brother will miss a few pieces of fruit.

[Diarmuid motions toward the fruit Romeo is holding.]

Feel free! Besides, with all the food he has gotten people to make, I bet he probably has a few extras put away if they are needed.

[Romeo grinned happily] Are you going to had another go mister Diarmuid? [And he tried to bite into the banana, skin and all.]

I...whoa wait a second there!

[He reaches out to gently stop Romeo from taking the bite. Has he never had a banana before?

Very possibly no. After all, Diarmuid wouldn't know anything about them himself if it wasn't for the Grail.

He holds his hand out for the fruit.]

It needs to be peeled first. May I?

[Romeo blinked but stopped and handed the fruit over. He hadn't ever had one before, at least not on its own.

It didn't feel like it was in plastic like candy, but he watched to see what Diarmuid would do with it.]

[Diarmuid takes the fruit from him and snaps the stem at the top, then pulls back the rubbery other peel before handing the softer inner part back to Romeo.]

Try that now. Something tells me it will taste better and be a little bit easier to eat than if you had tried to eat it with the peel on. This...

[He holds out the peels.]

...is just to protect the part you eat so it doesn't get ruined before you can eat it.

[Romeo took it and took a bite grinning.] That's clever of it! It's really yummy do you want some? [He holds it out with a smile]

Do you mind sharing it with me? While I know what they are, I have never had one before.

[Diarmuid breaks a small piece of the fruit off and then pops it into his mouth.]

Light and just a little sweet. It is quite good!

[Romeo grinned and broke the remaining banana in half giving Diarmuid the slightly bigger piece with a grin.] It's really nice, I don't think we had them where I come from. [Which was true of a lot of things, he ate his half with a grin.]

[He gives Romeo a wide smile, touched by the boy's kindness. Diarmuid then takes a bite before speaking again.]

Do you mind if I ask where you are from? What is your home like?

I'm from a place called Sonogno sir! It's in the mountains in a place called Ticino, which is in a bigger place called Switzerland in an even bigger place called Earth!

It was really pretty and there were lots of flowers, I also went to Milano before I came here, and that was a big city.

Switzerland? Yes, there is a place with that name on my world as well.

Tell me, do you know of a land by the name of Ireland? That is where I am from.

[Romeo nodded excitedly] Doctor Casello taught me geography when my leg was broked. [He knelt down and grabbed one of the sticks he had used as a spear. He drew a big squiggle in the dirt which could, if you knew the context, be considered Europe. And then a smaller squiggle, and an even smaller one.]

This is Switzerland, and this is Italy where Milano is, and this is France where my friend Angeletta had to go and then this. [Pointing at the smallest squiggle.] Is Ireland! Doctor Casella said it's all green there but it's colder than in Italy and it rains a lot!

[Thank you Grail for giving him enough knowledge about the world outside of his home to be able to follow that.]

You are correct! It seems you know quite a lot about the world for one so young. Ireland is a beautiful and green land. Everywhere you go even the air seems unusually full of life. Perhaps that is because of all the rain...

[He pauses to laugh.]

More likely it is because of all the gods and spirits that roam the land. At least, that is how is was when I lived. I do not know if it is still that way now.

[He beamed, it was very rare that people told him he knew a lot. But he had listened very hard when Doctor Casello had taught him geography.

He tilted his head though at the next part] I think you must be from a different world than me mister Diarmuid. Because my world only has one god and he lives in heaven not in the world with people.

I expect that it is another case of worlds having some things in common, but being very different in most other aspects.

[Though, from the information the Grail is pushing forward in his mind, they might not be that different after all.]

Or perhaps things just change over time. When I lived, the gods shared the land with us. In fact, my father was one of them. Spirit creatures of all kinds also lived among us, some of which were evil, though most were not.

Your dad was a god? [He looked up from his dirt map to look at Diarmuid with wide eyes, it sounded like a story, a place where spirits lived among people. But he knew that a lot of things from stories could exist in other worlds.]

Yes. Well, if you wish me to be completely accurate, he was my foster father, but since he was the only father I ever knew, that is what I call him.

[Diarmuid gives Romeo a gentle look. He isn't upset by the boy's question or disbelief at all. Instead, he is glad the boy is curious enough to ask his questions. Curiosity is a good trait for a child to have in his opinion.]

My father's name was Aengus Og. He ruled over love, youth, and poetry. One of my favorite pastimes as a child was to sit and listen to him tell stories or sing. He was so talented that one song he sang once put everyone who heard it to sleep for three full days.

[Romeo nodded, he had a father who wasn't actually his father but he called dad anyways, so he understood.

His mouth continued to be wide open as Diarmuid explained about his father.]</small Really? Three days! Can gods do that? Was everyone alright though? They weren't mad at him were they?

[Diarmuid smiles, shaking his head.]

No, not at all. The song was sung in celebration since my father had just won the right to marry the woman he loved with all of his heart and the sleep was deep and restful like none had ever had before. You could say it was his gift to them given in response to what had been given to him.

[myblueskies]

Oh so it was a present! [He thought about that, he's not sure that sleep is a good present, he's still at the age where sleep just takes up time better used for adventures, and sleep was where nightmares lived.

But he guessed adults saw things differently.] That was really nice of him! Was he and his wife happy? Did she become your mum?

They were very happy. Even though she had to go away every other year and spend time as a swan again, they were probably the happiest couple I ever saw. I was very lucky to know them and have them watch over me.

[He nods yes to Romeo's question.]

I was also lucky in that I really had two mothers. Both my birth mother and Caer lived at the home and helped take care of me.

[Though, his birth mother had never been the same after...]
