Finally, another party

Characters: ProtoLancer [personal profile] puppy_lancer, Zero Lancer [personal profile] oathshackledbird and anyone interested in attending a birthday party. Details here.
Setting: Meadow
Format: Anything goes
Summary: Lancer throws his brother a party. Everyone can come except for the Archer (meaning they can come crash the party anyways)! Feel free to tag into any of the threads set up or invent your own scenario.
Warnings: None yet!

[It had taken some preparing, but the party was finally set up in a satisfactory way. There was a table for food and drink dragged in from the cafeteria, a wooden bucket filled with water with fruit floating in it, a strange paper mache Jason head pinata stacked on a scarecrow body, and a board with a pig with a Ganon head scribbled on it along with several spiraling paper "tails" attached to thumbtacks. There are no party decorations, but Lancer figures the flowers and sunshine should be decoration enough.]

[Now it's just a matter of waiting for people to show up.]

That is no problem. I am going to guess there probably wasn't much reason to hunt in your world unless you did it for fun, while it was a way of life in mine. I have no problems teaching you what I can. Besides, that way if you ever need to hunt to get food here in the tower you will know how.

Suzaku nodded, "I can lay traps but actual hunting is not anything I was taught."

He was thankful for the offer, especially as times without food were more frequent. "Thank you." He took another sample of food and tasted it.

Trapping is not a skill to be underestimated. It often makes things much easier, though it is not always option.

[Diarmuid gives Suzaku a curious look.]

Was trapping something you taught yourself or something you learned part of your military training?

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-18 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Both really, I learned the basics as a child just because I was interested in anything that didn't involve sitting still indoors. I then was taught properly in the army, it's come in handy once or twice.
oathshackledbird: Past (Past)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-18 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Understandable. I could not have taken being trapped indoors as a child. Being outdoors was my life.

[He laughs.]

Even maybe when it shouldn't have been. Sneaking out when it was dark. Playing in the rain. I drove my father crazy.

Me and Lelouch stole a car once. [He shook his head, sometimes he couldn't even believe how wild he had been] One of my fathers. When we were ten. I had played a lot of car racing video games, and thought I could drive...
oathshackledbird: Surprise (Surprise)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-19 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... I imagine that did not go well. Was anyone hurt?

[Diarmuid hasn't ever been in a car, but thanks to the Grail he knows more about them than he could ever wish to. Enough to know a ten year old driving one would not be a good idea.]

If my friend Oscar was alive today, I can see him probably trying something like that. I would be just as bad an idea as when you tried it, but he would do it anyway...
swordofzero: (sadface)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-20 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
We crashed but luckily we were the only car involved and were both unharmed. [He shook his head] We thought we were invincible which was part of our problem. I was so scared of the trouble we'd be in though, I never was very good at breaking rules. I think we had a entire plan of how we were going to sneak back grab Nunnally and run away before...

[He cut off with a shrug] I never did learn to drive properly... I piloted a knightmare frame but never actually got a regular driving license.

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-20 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
That really does sound like me and Oscar. I was always trying to get him to stop and think through the things he was doing. He never did learn that very well and I always worried that one day one of his pranks would go terribly awry.

[Diarmuid shakes his head for a moment before switching the topic.]

A knightmare frame. I think you mentioned piloting one of those before, but I never really asked you about it. What exactly is it?
swordofzero: (hope)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-20 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[It sounded similar, Oscar and Diarmuid to how Suzaku and Lancelot had been before everything went wrong, even if they had been very young at the time. And later, when they met again. Suzaku was glad that Diarmuid had a friend he could think back on and remember good times.

His thoughts drifted and he nodded, he had guessed that Diarmuid had no idea what one was, as Cu had had little idea either.]
It's a humonoid fighting machine, they are officially called Humanoid Autonomous Armored Knights but that name doesn't exactly strike fear into your enemy.

They are about five meters tall, the cockpit is in the head of the machine and you control it from there, they have different weapons and run on a power source called sakuradite, which is a natural resource of Japan. [And one of the main reasons for Britannia's invasion.]

The system is a little more complicated than that, but it is enough to know that it is unlike any other fighting machine in the world, once Britannia created they pretty much ensured their dominance. Other countries have created them now though, the European Universe and the Chinese Federation both have armies to rival Britannia's.

Mine was an experimental one, called Lancelot. [He seemed to realise how much he had spoken and shut his mouth with a snap.]

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-21 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[All of that is a lot for Diarmuid to take in even with the knowledge the Grail gives him, so it shouldn't be surprising that he is quiet for several long moments before speaking. When he finally does speak, though, his question probably will be surprising.]

It was called Lancelot? Did you name it or do you know why it was named that if not?

[Could it be that despite how different Suzaku's world is from the one Diarmuid comes from, the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round is still known there?]
swordofzero: (sadface)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-21 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't name it, the scientist who made it did. But it is named, like most of the custom Knightmare frames are from a legend that comes from the land the Britannian's originally came from.

oathshackledbird: Laugh (Laugh)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-22 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
The legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, right?

[There is excitement in his eyes. Perhaps it might seem odd, but it makes him happy to have found a link between his world and Suzaku's because they are so very different.]

Sir Lancelot was summoned into the war I fought in along with King Arthur. There are versions of both of them here in the tower. Have you met them yet?
swordofzero: (hope)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-22 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Suzaku nodded, also surprised to have something in common with Diarmuid's world.

And even more suprised to hear there were people from that legend here in the tower.]
No I haven't yet, but it is the same legend, I would guess. Britannia's capital was called Pendragon. The emperors task force of elite knights were called The Knights of the Round.

What are they like? Anything like the legends?
oathshackledbird: Past (Past)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-22 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, those things would lead me to believe it is the same legend. Arthur's last name was Pendragon and that is what his knights were named as a whole.

As for those who are in the tower, they both are and aren't what you would expect from their legends. Of course, this is not all that surprising to me since I know well how easily legends can change over time.

[He had grown up in an era that used the spoken words as a means of passing down stories, lessons and the such, after all.]

I am particularly pleased to have had the chance to meet Sir Lancelot here because he was one of the heroes called into the same war as I was. Unfortunately, the class he was called into required him to be berserk at all times and stripped his ability to reason from him. For whatever reason--call it good luck or something else--the version of him in the tower has had his sanity restored and because of that I have had the chance to know him for who he really is. While I was worried when he first arrived because I feared his presence would hurt a dear friend of mine, I have since learned that fear was completely unfounded.
swordofzero: (they did what?)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-22 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Suzaku nodded, "Very likely." And it was good that they had something so similar. He frowned, a very painful look coming over his face.

"That's awful, for him to not have his reason..." That there was a class that did that? And if the tower had restored it... then that was the first good thing he had heard of them doing ever.

"I am glad your fears are unfounded and that it seems that you get on well."

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-23 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed, especially since he is such a intelligent and noble man. I feel sorrow for those who are called into the Berserker class for they are forced to give up even more than the rest of us are to fight. Their reason, their control, their ability to bond with their masters," Diarmuid shakes his head. "All to gain just a little more strength. My brother also qualifies for that class, and I am thankful every day that he was not called into it."
swordofzero: (sadface)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-23 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
"It sounds unnecessarily cruel, to take something so basic from people." He tries to keep his voice neutral, though it is getting harder to hide the underlying anger that this was something part of this war Diarmuid was fighting in, enough that they summoned others to fight for them, and summoned suggested a lack of choice, but for this to be a class, not an accident but something they chose to inflict on others.

"I am glad also, that he wasn't."

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-23 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"The whole war and how it is set up is unnecessarily cruel. I did not know that until I came here, but the way things work basically ensures that even if a servant is skilled or lucky enough to win the war with their master, they likely will not get their wish. And if they do, they will not remember it," Diarmuid shakes his head. "The whole thing is wrong. That is why once we can go home, I will go back with my new master hand help him dismantle this foolish system. It needs to end."
swordofzero: (not impressed)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-23 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Suzaku frowned as Diarmuid explained things, "That is cruel, so they trick you in order to ensure your participation?"

He was glad that Diarmuid seemed determined to take down such an unfair system, and hoped that he managed it. Though he thought if they did get out of here and back to their worlds, after restoring them, that they would have a good chance.

However he had a more important question. "Your new master?"
oathshackledbird: Dia & Waver (Dia & Waver)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-23 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is not presented as a trick, but then again these things never are. When our souls are recorded on the Throne of Heroes after our deaths, we are supposed to be called back whenever the world is in great need. In the case of the wars, they get around this by calling back those who have a wish that the Grail can grant. The thing is, the master gets a wish as well and often the master's wish will require their servant's death to fulfill. Since a master has three absolute orders they can use on their servant, it would not be hard to order a servant to kill themselves so that the master's wish will be fulfilled at the expense of the servant's. But, even if that does not happen, once the war is over, all summoned servants are returned to the Throne and their memories erased. Should they be called again, said servant will not remember that their wish was granted."

Diarmuid pauses for a moment at Suzaku's next question. Had he not mentioned Waver to the other man before?

"Yes, while it was not my original intent when I came here since this place somehow negates the need for me to have a master to survive, I have taken a new master. His name is Waver Velvet. There is more than one person in the tower currently with that name. The one I am bound to is the elder of the two. I really don't consider him a master, though. He is my friend and partner. We are working toward a common goal, so it only makes sense for us to work together like this. Besides there are advantages to us actually being linked together even if it is no longer necessary."
swordofzero: (sadface)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-24 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
Suzaku listened, frowning. Angry that something so unfair was allowed to exist, he remembered being told about the absolute orders before, and that that was exactly what Diarmuid's master had done, forced him to die to further his own goals.

But to hear that even if such a thing had not happened he would not have recieved his wish anyways, or rather not remembered it...

"I hope that you succeed in taking the system down."

He had not met anyone of that name yet, but he was very glad that Diarmuid had found someone to work with, even after he had been betrayed. "I am glad, it is good that you don't have to fight alone."
oathshackledbird: Calm (Calm)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-25 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," Diarmuid bows his head toward Suzaku in gratitude. "I hope we are successful too. It is going to be very dangerous for him and whoever he gets to help him, but I believe he will find a way to work things out, and I will do everything in my power to help him. Waver is very stubborn. Too much so sometimes, but in this case I think that will work to our advantage."
swordofzero: (not impressed)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2013-05-25 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
"I think stubbornness can only be a help." He agreed nodding. "But it's your birthday party, I think you have better things to do than stand at the edges talking to me." There were lots of guests, and more food and games and people who needed rescuing from Diarmuid's brother.
oathshackledbird: Face (Face)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2013-05-25 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Diarmuid smiles, shaking his head, "I have no problems talking with you for as long as you want. However, I probably should greet a few more people and let you have some fun yourself. At least, make sure you enjoy some more of the food. And if you want to talk to me more later you know where I am. I will be glad to speak with you at any time."
