Finally, another party

Setting: Meadow
Format: Anything goes
Summary: Lancer throws his brother a party. Everyone can come except for the Archer (meaning they can come crash the party anyways)! Feel free to tag into any of the threads set up or invent your own scenario.
Warnings: None yet!

[It had taken some preparing, but the party was finally set up in a satisfactory way. There was a table for food and drink dragged in from the cafeteria, a wooden bucket filled with water with fruit floating in it, a strange paper mache Jason head pinata stacked on a scarecrow body, and a board with a pig with a Ganon head scribbled on it along with several spiraling paper "tails" attached to thumbtacks. There are no party decorations, but Lancer figures the flowers and sunshine should be decoration enough.]

[Now it's just a matter of waiting for people to show up.]

November 19th it is! Is there anything you can think of that you might want to do? Or maybe not do as the case may be?

[...Oh dear. Well, it's not like he wants to ruin Diarmuid's fun...]

Um... I'd just like to do things that are normally done at a birthday party. I haven't been to one before yours.

[Diarmuid laughs and leans closer to Ryoji so he can whisper over-dramatically into the boy's ear.]

Can I tell you a secret? I haven't been to a party like this before either. Neither has my brother. Apparently, he asked some people on the Network what he needed to do. I never saw the post so...

Ah, I remember seeing that! I couldn't help him, but I guess some people knew a lot more than we did!

[And he's very glad for that. Diarmuid did deserve to have a fun birthday party, after all he did for Ryoji and the other Tower residents.]

As much as I don't really like the Network, it has its uses. I am not sure that gathering information for a birthday party is the first thing I would have thought of, but why not?

[He laughs.]

I am just glad things have gone so well and that no one has taken the opportunity to try and cause trouble.

It worked well! And I'm really glad no one has come to cause trouble too...

[He gives Diarmuid a bit of a worried look, wondering if there is something his mentor is neglecting to tell him.]

Did you think someone would want to?

[Diarmuid makes a very quick dismissive gesture when he sees the worry on Ryoji's face.]

No, not at all! Well, I am a little worried, but not about a specific person causing trouble. I am more worried about the tower itself or the administrators causing problems. You know how they can be.

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. At least they seem to let us have some good times occasionally. They must not all be bad, right?

[He doesn’t know much about the administrators. Perhaps not all of them approve of the experiments.]

[Diarmuid shakes his head sadly.]

Dax tried to help us and Ruana killed him for it. Zo is just a child so it is hard to say, though I think he does try to help people when he can. The others...I do not trust them at all. Some say Riki is not so bad, but there are people who thought that about Ruana too and look at what she has done now...

That's... that's just not fair. The good ones should have as much say as the bad ones do. I didn't really think any of them would be trustworthy, with the experiments, but knowing that some of them want to help but can't is worse.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Nothing is fair about this place. Zo is just a child and yet he is caught up in all of this. It doesn't seem right. He's almost as much a victim of all of this as we are...if he actually is what he seems. It is so hard to know anything for sure about them.

From the meal choices we get sometimes, I'm pretty sure that Zo really is what he appears to be... I hope when we find a way out of here, we can help him too.

I want to believe that you are correct. It's just that there is so much unknown in this place and so much that seems to be one thing when it is not that I can't help but be suspicious.

Deep down, I feel like he is just a child, though. A child with unimaginable power, but a child nonetheless. I hope we can help him as well.

I understand that. I still hope there isn't anything more to him, but I would be suspicious too.

Does anyone know what kinds of powers he has?

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

Not that I know. He is the one who brings our souls here, but besides that the true extent of his power is really unknown. Honestly, it's something we may never know.

I see... That's still amazing, being able to transfer souls, even bring them back from death. I think if he was a bad person, he would have used that power against us by now.

I would think that would be the case, yes, unless he is trying to trick us in some way.

[Diarmuid shuts his eyes for a moment and shakes his head again.]

Of course, I thought that about Dax too because I thought it too good to be true that one of the Administrators might have been on our side, and we all know how wrong I was on that.

Yeah. I think Zo is genuine, like Dax was. I don’t know. I just find it hard to believe a child could be capable of anything cruel… but I guess I’m a little idealistic sometimes.

[He used to be a bit more doubtful of the morality of others, but it seems that Minato and the others’ success had an impact on that.]

[Diarmuid smiles slightly.]

I've probably said this before, but I will say it again because it's true. There is nothing wrong with being idealistic. It is better to hope and try for a better day than to sit back and cry because of how bad thing are now.

You're right. I guess it's really a good thing to have hope in a place like this... And I should know to be hopeful. That's the only thing that will stop my world from wishing terrible things upon itself.

[And the only thing that may eventually let Minato rest peacefully.]

Hope is a very strong thing, though it is also a very hard thing to hold onto. Friends and family help.

[Diarmuid laughs and then motions at the crowd around them.]

Especially when they are fairly talented at throwing parties.

I agree. I never would even have this optimism if it wasn't for my friends.

Though I have to admit, I could use a friend that was good at throwing parties. I don't have anything to celebrate... oh, though I guess there's my 'birthday' now.

[Diarmuid rolls his eyes at Ryoji.]

You have a friend who is good at throwing parties. After all, Cu Chulainn is my adopted brother. He would be glad to help you out whenever you might need it with whatever you might need.

And yes, there is your birthday. We aren't forgetting that.

Oh! Y-You think he'd want to organize something like that? I mean, I'd be happy to help him, but... th-this is really big. I won't need anything like this.

[He doesn't need a party at all, but he knows Diarmuid isn't going to listen to him if he tries to protest that, so he'll stay quiet about that.]

I am sure he would be glad to help. However, if you don't want it to be as big as this, let me make a suggestion.

[Diarmuid grins.]

Don't give him free reign of things. Even if he says he will take care of it all himself, help him. That way you can try to limit things a little.
