[Dorm Hallways]

[Watanuki trots through the halls with purpose. He's on a mission to find out what the hell happened and he's not giving up until he finds the answer. Sure there was that note he found but he's not dumb enough to believe something like that.

Maybe.

Okay, he's not ruling out that it can be true just yet but he'd like to get some confirmation first. Besides, he needs to find ~~his friends~~ the other residences of Ayakashi Hall, especially Karuta and Zange, to make sure they're okay.]

[Floor 87 (Poppy Room)]

[Watanuki's pretty sure he's gone down about half a million floors already and there's no end in sight. He's not even sure there's a bottom anymore. The entire way down, he's stuck to the stairway but what he sees on the floors he passes through makes him consider the letter's telling the truth because he's not sure what's real anymore. Either that or a demon's put some kind of spell on him. Or he's dreaming. Everything's confusing and he hates it. He just wants to be home or to see his friends or something.

He lets out a frustrated groan, and finally too tired to move on, he flops down onto right there in the middle of a stair. He lays there on his belly, all four legs stretched out, not really caring whether or not he's in anyone's way. Besides, he's too busy being angry at himself for letting some stairs get the better of him. How pathetic.

Which is why, if anyone were to walk by him, they would hear what appears to be a small raccoon dog mumbling to himself, obviously disgruntled.]

I'm so done with this stupid place.

[Cafeteria]

[It took him travelling down twenty floors before he realized that there were elevators. Twenty floors of odd rooms that can't possibly fit indoors. Twenty floors of slowly getting more and more weirded out by the tower. Not to mention twenty floors of hopping down countless flights of stairs in his tiny tanuki form.

Nevertheless, when he did, he took the elevator straight down to the bottom of the tower. He figured if anything, that's where the exit would be. What he found instead though was a cafeteria. While he's extremely wary of the place now, the smell of food makes his stomach grumble. He stands off to the side, conflicted over the fact of whether or not he should trust the food here.

Eventually, unable to take it anymore (because going down those stairs took a lot of energy) he makes his way over to where he noticed other people picking up food. When he gets there though, he realizes he has another problem. The window is much too high for him to reach.]

Goddammit.

[Watanuki tries to stand up on his hind legs but that doesn't seem to help at all.]

Shit. You've gotta be kidding me.

[He's much too low on energy now to even consider transforming back into his human form so all he can do now is resort to leaping up, in attempts to reach the counter.]

[Well he thought he'd seen what looked like monsters when he would chance glancing into other floors, but this creature? Hardly looked like it would do any harm, but he's going to try being careful anyway. Wouldn't want to have to take too many trips to the infirmary all the way at the bottom.

Wait – was it talking? Yes, that was definitely a voice, whether it's actually talking or only Henry can hear him is for now a mystery. Time to kneel by it and possibly start prodding.] Hey little guy, if you stay here much longer you're going to be food for the monsters, nya ha!

Gyaaaaaah!

[Obviously suddenly getting poked like that surprises him, enough that he jumps to his feet-- only one foot slips off the side of the stair he was laying on and it causes him to lose his balance. Watanuki proceeds to tumble down a couple steps. He does manage to catch himself though and when he does, he glares at the offender. He probably would have been a bit more threatening if his voice isn't shaky and strained when he speaks.]

Wh-who are you and what do you want?

[Oops, he should probably apologize to him, but he seems all right. The glare has no effect whatsoever, in fact he tries to come closer to the Banri, he did look so cute and soft.]

I'm Henry! And right now I'd really like to explore some of that wicked-looking stuff on some of the other floors, but you're kinda in the way.

Well you could have said so like a normal person instead of poking a guy when he wasn't expecting it!

Nah, then it'd be too boring. Besides if you were dead, I could just throw you in there with all the poppies as a cozy bed until your body becomes their food, I think they'd like that, and most folks out there want something scenic for their graves, right? It'd work perfect!

[Yes, he is saying this all in a chipper and happy casual tone, hope you don't mind it too much, Banri.]

[Watanuki stares at him, completely dumbfounded. For some reason this guy is reminding him of someone he'd rather not be reminded of...]

You're messed up. Why would I be dead?

Well everyone is always talking about it here, really scary things happen they say. [He doesn't really have anything to say about being messed up, he knows full well he is and doesn't see reason to deny it.]

'Everyone?' What do you mean, 'everyone.'

[And then he realizes this might be his chance to verify what's on that note he found as well as find more information. Not that he'll readily believe what he'll be told or anything.]

And scary things happen? I thought this tower saved me or something like that. Won't make sense if it wants to kill me.

Apparently things aren't what they seem! First lesson is avoid going out alone at night, those monsters can be really mean I've heard and I might not even be able to talk to them right. Only been here a day and its an adventure!

[But does he look like he's worrying about it? No siree, and if Banri wants info this guy will hand it over easy.]

Maybe it just wants to give a good fright, and you'll get so scared you'll die! But that's kinda lame...

Monsters appearing at night is normal though, there's not much to learn there. But you've only been here a day? You're not gonna be much help, then.

[Especially with considering his attitude, Watanuki doesn't see why he's making the tower seem dangerous. Just having some monsters isn't such a big deal.]

Yeah you're right, where I'm from, the Risen don't even care that it's daytime! So long as there's people to kill, they just keep coming~. [It's why the tactician of the army he's a part of scolded him for trying to summon a horde of them to fight in their stead.]

I can tell you that you really should eat the oatmeal before eating everything else, it isn't that much fun to keep throwing up. Everything in the cafeteria's made of plant things right now.

What is oatmeal and why do I have to eat it? That doesn't make sense. I don't even know where the cafeteria is.

[This guy is giving him answers but they're making him have more questions as well.]

...Does this tower have a bottom? I've been walking down for forever and I'm getting sick of it.

Walking this whole time? That's some guts, I wouldn't last a day if it weren't for the elevators. [That's right, there is a faster way to go around the tower that no one has mentioned.]

The cafeteria is what's waaay at the bottom, do you need help getting there little guy?

...There's an elevator?!

Yup! Unless everyone has super strength or something, it might be some trouble to walk down each of these floors!

Uuuugh I can't believe this. [He's actually feeling pretty stupid right now.] Where is it?

Mmm~ the quickest way is to walk to floor eighty-one, yup that's it! They only stop every few floors I think, but you're already really tired aren't you?

No! I can do it!

[And to prove that, he takes one wobbly step down--

before stopping.]

What floor are we on right now?

You're a terrible liar, but if you want your legs to fall off be my guest. [Actually that might be fun to see...]

Pretty sure we're on floor eighty-seven right now. Imagine if you tried to to climb the rest of the way down, nya ha.

[Seven more flights of stairs? Maybe he should reconsider his tough act, just this once.]

I... what am I supposed to do then? I can't stay here, obviously, and hopping down all those stairs is probably the worst idea now that I think about it.

[Asking for help directly is impossible for him.]

Of course you can stay, then you get to meet the monsters! [Cue an amused chuckle, right before Henry just up and picks up the little guy. Never worry Banri! Your twisted ride down the flight of stairs is at your service.]

Getting you there will be a cinch, just hold on tight in case I let go and drop you to your good ol' bloody death.
