[Dorm Hallways]

[Watanuki trots through the halls with purpose. He's on a mission to find out what the hell happened and he's not giving up until he finds the answer. Sure there was that note he found but he's not dumb enough to believe something like that.

Maybe.

Okay, he's not ruling out that it can be true just yet but he'd like to get some confirmation first. Besides, he needs to find his friends the other residences of Ayakashi Hall, especially Karuta and Zange, to make sure they're okay.]

[Floor 87 (Poppy Room)]

[Watanuki's pretty sure he's gone down about half a million floors already and there's no end in sight. He's not even sure there's a bottom anymore. The entire way down, he's stuck to the stairway but what he sees on the floors he passes through makes him consider the letter's telling the truth because he's not sure what's real anymore. Either that or a demon's put some kind of spell on him. Or he's dreaming. Everything's confusing and he hates it. He just wants to be home or to see his friends or something.

He lets out a frustrated groan, and finally too tired to move on, he flops down onto right there in the middle of a stair. He lays there on his belly, all four legs stretched out, not really caring whether or not he's in anyone's way. Besides, he's too busy being angry at himself for letting some stairs get the better of him. How pathetic.

Which is why, if anyone were to walk by him, they would hear what appears to be a small raccoon dog mumbling to himself, obviously disgruntled.]

I'm so done with this stupid place.

[Cafeteria]


[It took him travelling down twenty floors before he realized that there were elevators. Twenty floors of odd rooms that can't possibly fit indoors. Twenty floors of slowly getting more and more weirded out by the tower. Not to mention twenty floors of hopping down countless flights of stairs in his tiny tanuki form.

Nevertheless, when he did, he took the elevator straight down to the bottom of the tower. He figured if anything, that's where the exit would be. What he found instead though was a cafeteria. While he's extremely wary of the place now, the smell of food makes his stomach grumble. He stands off to the side, conflicted over the fact of whether or not he should trust the food here.

Eventually, unable to take it anymore (because going down those stairs took a lot of energy) he makes his way over to where he noticed other people picking up food. When he gets there though, he realizes he has another problem. The window is much too high for him to reach.]

Goddammit.

[Watanuki tries to stand up on his hind legs but that doesn't seem to help at all.]

Shit. You've gotta be kidding me.

[He's much too low on energy now to even consider transforming back into his human form so all he can do now is resort to leaping up, in attempts to reach the counter.]

[Well there's something you don't see every day. Fuzzy forest animals that curse. Kain is wary, because the fuzzy forest animals of the tower tend to be vicious and lethal... but not usually chatty.]

[Congratulations! You've caught Watanuki in a bad mood-- although finding him in a good one is pretty rare so maybe that's not much of a surprise. In any case, he stops jumping and tries to glare as best he can, which isn't really threatening at all.]

Yeah, no problems here even though I woke up in a weird tower and everything here is dumb and nothing is going right.

[He wants to laugh. He wants to laugh, but he's not going to laugh, because aside from the small fuzzy thing pitching a fit, there's not much actually funny about the situation. Kain leans in a little, perhaps to better address Watanuki.]

You're having the same not-problem as the rest of us. Welcome to the Tower.

[He could offer sympathies, or maybe advice, or possibly warnings... but no, maybe that would be best left for someone else. He looked to the cafeteria window, looked back down at Watanuki...]

[Well he thought he'd seen what looked like monsters when he would chance glancing into other floors, but this creature? Hardly looked like it would do any harm, but he's going to try being careful anyway. Wouldn't want to have to take too many trips to the infirmary all the way at the bottom.

Wait – was it talking? Yes, that was definitely a voice, whether it's actually talking or only Henry can hear him is for now a mystery. Time to kneel by it and possibly start prodding.] Hey little guy, if you stay here much longer you're going to be food for the monsters, nya ha!

Gyaaaaaah!

[Obviously suddenly getting poked like that surprises him, enough that he jumps to his feet-- only one foot slips off the side of the stair he was laying on and it causes him to lose his balance. Watanuki proceeds to tumble down a couple steps. He does manage to catch himself though and when he does, he glares at the offender. He probably would have been a bit more threatening if his voice isn't shaky and strained when he speaks.]

Wh-who are you and what do you want?

[Oops, he should probably apologize to him, but he seems all right. The glare has no effect whatsoever, in fact he tries to come closer to the Banri, he did look so cute and soft.]

I'm Henry! And right now I'd really like to explore some of that wicked-looking stuff on some of the other floors, but you're kinda in the way.

Cafeteria

[Taiki was barely tall enough to reach himself, he saw the small creature jumping and knelt down.] Do you need some help?

[badguise]

[Watanuki gives the boy a wary glare before turning his attention back to the window. Sure he doesn't seem that harmless now but he's not ready to willingly trust anyone he's met for the first time in this weird place.]

No, I'm fine.

[Maybe it's his determination to prove himself now that he's denied help but the next time he jumps, Watanuki actually does manage to reach the window-- but barely. His front paws are able to grab on but the rest of his body doesn't quite make it so he hangs there, hind legs waving furiously in an attempt to propel himself up. It takes all of his willpower to not yell out in frustration.

Maybe some help would be nice but now he's too embarrassed to ask for it.]

Sorry... [Taiki shuffled his feet, not wanting to intrude, but after a moment when the creature jumped and got stuck he stepped forward and picked him up, placing him on the ledge.] Sorry...

Dorm Halls

[Marisa was coming down the hall, broom over her shoulder, when she saw him. Eyes lighting up, she pointed at him.]

Tanuki!

[Oh, she is so going to capture him! Somehow.]

[Suddenly getting called out like that catches Watanuki off guard and he just stares at the girl pointing at him with wide eyes, much like a deer caught in headlights. So he just stands there, frozen, as his brain works to catch him up with what's happened.]

[Oh, hey, it's just STANDING THERE. That means it's an easy target, thinks the witch.

A bright blue magic circle forms under her for a moment as she casts a strong binding spell at the tanuki. They tended to be hard to catch, and she wanted the luck.

And then she can rub the leaf on his head and kick the crap out of Reimu in that video game.]

[ .. It's so cute. Asahi's just been standing here for a while, watching the little creature jump up and down.. and she really can't take it, that thing really is way too cute! It's why after a while she quickly gets over, cooing already, and dropping to her knees so she can be on a more equal level. ]

[Oh god, anything but this. Watanuki stops his jumping and stares at the girl that just approached him, tail swishing from side to side in annoyance.]

What are you making those dumb noises for?

[Adorable? Excuse you, he is not adorable.]

Aren't you the cutest little thing out h-- [ Suddenly she stops midsentence, realising that.. it just talked, didn't it.. her eyes go a little wider. ]

W-wait, did you say something?

Elevator en route to the cafeteria okay?

*The ride to the bottom had gotten long. A half hour's ride took up most of the meal time, and, combined with his acquired tendency to sleep longer than normal, meant his breakfast was normally eaten during the lunch hours. It was for this reason that he was on the elevator when it stopped at the bottom of the fifth block, to let a rather small and furry passenger on.

Because another tanuki had been in the tower before this, Enoch recognized the creature...but there was something different about this one. Other than the fact that Taro's fur had been gray and this one's was brown. Maybe tanuki had different breeds like dogs and cats.

The man in asymmetrical armor gave Watanuki a polite smile and a nod.*

[Seeing someone else in the elevator makes him hesitate but only for a second. Who knows when the next elevator will come by so he quickly steps inside before the door closes on him, returning the man's nod as he does so. When he's inside, he sits down on his hind legs, readying himself for the wait.]

I didn't think I'd meet another tanuki in this place. Did you just arrive?

*And it's a shame, he thinks, that he missed the other one. He hopes Taro will return someday. He didn't strike Enoch as the type who would deal well with being alone like that. Though, who would?

Enoch slides down the wall to sit, himself. It would be a long ride down, there wasn't any use in standing unless a monster tried to invade the elevator or something, which hadn't happened in the ten months he'd been here.*

Floor 87

You can't stay here. The poppies make you pass out.

[Aleph's just patrolling the tower for newbies on the dangerous floors when he sees Watanuki on one of said dangerous floors.]

[Watanuki lifts his head up half-heartedly.]

I already want to pass out, I don't need some dumb flowers.

[And then he sets his head back down again.]

And then you'll be killed and eaten.

[Aleph sighs and comes over to nonchalantly pick Watanuki up from the poppies.]

[Bel was just minding his own business when something peculiar caught his attention. Was that a talking raccoon?? Ahh... how cute.

So, without saying a word, he picks Watanuki up and continues walking down the floors.]

[Holy shit suddenly he's airborne and he doesn't have a clue about what's going. Watanuki flails a bit before recognizing the sensation of someone carrying him in their arms.

Excuse you, no one except Karuta can carry him.]

What the hell is this?! Let go of me this instant before I make you regret ever touching me!!

Dorm hallways

[... what is this curious looking creature going down the hallway towards him? Is it someone's pet?

Chihiro approaches him rather cautiously.]

[Then he immediately feels rather silly about talking to an animal... surely it wouldn't be able to answer him...]

[Who is this... girl?? He's not in the greatest mood right now and doesn't really want anyone talking to him but he answers anyway, albeit in a pretty snappy tone.]

What do you want?
