[Cookerin' all day every day]
Setting: The poor, unfortunate cafeteria kitchens.
Characters: Lineface (Narukami), Bugface (Asch) and YOU.
Summary: Follow-up to Rise’s network post: COOK ALL THE THINGS!
Format: Whatever. If you want only one of the boys, specify in comment title.
Warnings: It is a redhead and a bowlcut. Snark in the kitchen is inevitable.
[And so once again, to the kitchens. There’s a certain irony in what Rise said, even if it’s not actually true, because hadn’t Asch joked about exactly this with Guy before the blond disappeared for good?
Whether it’s true or not, it’s better safe than sorry. That’s why they’re down here, sorting the flowers and other plants out from everything else, just in case. Especially since, if memory served correctly, this had happened before during one of Riki’s months last year. Of course, they aren’t just there for providing edible substances... but likely to give a few pointers as well if you aren’t exactly up to par with them and along the lines of mystery “food” X.]

Can I bother both Bugface and Lineface, can that be a thing?
She's not the best cook, but she's going to try her hand at it anyway. She's even filched a cookbook from the library so she at least has some idea of where to start.
She pauses at the entrance when she sees a familiar face and a not-so-familiar face, though.]
Oh... hey! I guess you two are tired of plants too, huh?
Aw yiss
[Not really indicating whether he believes it or not, there, good job Asch. Better safe than sorry either way, which is how he's wound up down here for the foreseeable future.
At least the company's decent. Backhanded introductions are go?]'
Sheba, Yu Narukami. He's - [Sort of a friend.] - Luke's sword instructor here.
of course you may
[He shrugs, but then turns to nods to Sheba.]
Nice to meet you, Sheba-san.
hoorayyy!
[As much as she'd like to believe it's not true - well, it wouldn't surprise her. This month has been relatively easy so far, and while it may just be a calm before the storm that will be the next Ruana month, peace seems out of place in the Tower. She does her best to remove the frown from her face before she nods back to Yu.]
It's nice to finally meet you! I've... heard about you. [While mindsnooping. She'll just leave that detail out.]
So, I guess you're trying to figure out if any of the ingredients are already poisoned? If you need someone to test... I don't mind. I've been poisoned in battle before, and I don't think it will kill me if I only have a little bit from this.
no subject
Supposedly, it's just the plants that are toxic.
[He waves one hand at the stacked flowers and herbs on one side of the counter.]
Better to just avoid them than start testing on people. Some ingested poisons take hours to have any effect.
[Assassin by trade says you're not allowed to eat potentially poisonous things, friendperson.]
no subject
'Thou shouldst not be so surprised, with our reputation.'
'Fair enough.'
...Oh well. Focus on what they're talking about, instead.]
And here a 'friend' was glad to have tea for a month. [Can you hear the dripping sarcasm.]
But he's right. We'd rather just avoid it to be safe.
no subject
Oh... if it's the plants that are poisonous, I guess that means the wine is out, too. [She sighs heavily.] There's something with plants in it. It tasted like... rosewater, I think?
That's a shame. It was way better wine than I ever had in Tolbi.
[...says the fifteen year old.]
So, what are you two going to try and make instead? Do you need any help?
no subject
[Sheba, why are you drinking, you're the youngest person in this conversation
even ignoring whacky Auldrant years.]It's whatever's simplest, for now. From the sound of it, there's a lot of people we need to feed.
[Half a dozen of Narukami's friends, apparently, plus virtually everyone from Auldrant who couldn't cook, and then Sheba and anyone else who decided to show up...]
no subject
Before the age of fifteen.
...Remind him to not introduce her to Naoto and Kanji, then. He has a feeling they knew their alcohol, too.]
Kanji-kun was going to help keep Rise from making whatever they find too spicy, so...
[They are going to be busy so of course they could use the help. ...If she knew how to cook because let's face it, none of the girls back home knew how except for Naoto who knew how to follow a recipe.]
/casually phonetags
Yeah... Well, I'll definitely help if there's anything you need me to do! [She holds up the cookbook she'd filched from the library on her way to the kitchen.] Most of the stuff in here looked pretty simple, and I'm good at following directions. [Plus she could just peek into their minds to figure out how to do something if she got confused along the way.]
/also casually phonetags
Even if Asch cheats his way by on a military exception once or twice.]A couple recipes are always a good place to start.
[He's sure Narukami can vouch for what happens when someone tries to experiment without knowing what they're doing just as well as he can.
Yu why are our love interests terrible cooks.]/casually late on accident whoops
I have one for curry and a few pork dishes...
[But the likelihood that either of them know what those dishes are is small and it makes him sad. Silly other world cuisine.
Probably to balance out our skillz...]hit me with both
After seeing Rise's post, Minato make his way over towards the cafeteria. He can use this as an excuse to practice his cooking skill some more, plus he kind of promised (?) Urotsuki a boxed lunch or two back on the projection floor.
Entering the kitchen, he glances around and see two people.]
Hey, Yu.
you got it, bro
Minato. [He nods slightly, then gestures to his fellow chef with a hand that isn't holding a knife. Kitchen safety, after all.] Asch-san, this is my roommate, Minato Arisato. Minato, Asch.
no subject
The sort of roommate you actually enjoy having around, I take it?
[Yeah, he's had his share of crazies, he assumes they do, too.]
no subject
Hello, Asch-san. [Hope Asch doesn't mind the honorific. It's normal for Minato to use, until he's told otherwise.] And I think I get along with Yu fairly well.
[For one thing, Minato's not Richtofen.]
no subject
We do. [Wait for it...] After all, he isn't a scientist who has a penchant for zombies.
[And they all know who that is.]
no subject
From what I've seen of him, he's as bad as the one in the flying chair.
[Why are all his coworkers crazy?
Except Largo. Largo's cool.At this point, though, the dough is dough enough that Asch can extract his hands for a minute and - after dusting off some flour - offer one to Minato to shake.]
no subject
A flying chair?
[That sounds awesome. But it seems like whoever made it is as bad as Richtofen.
And that's saying something.]
no subject
Well, that's different.
[Please tell. Because it sounds awesome with a side of "it's another mad scientist, isn't it."]
no subject
You're familar with his more famous creation already, Narukami. It was Dist who took the principles of fomicry that Jade thought out, and made the machines that made it actually possible.
[A small displeased noise - not his favorite coworker, by far, even removed from replica trauma.]
It's generally accepted that he's halfway mad. He may also be part cockroach.
no subject
I assume this fomicry is specific to your world. [Unless the scientific world discovered something and he haven't found out.]
Part cockroach...in what way, persistence and endurance?
[Is he the kind of person to keep staying alive?]
no subject
no subject
[And yes, Minato, that's all you get - Narukami can figure out why it's important to Asch on his own. It's not exactly hard.]
And that about sums it up.
no subject
Seems like an almost universal trait.
['cuz, uh, the scientists he knows of from his world were kinda dead.]
no subject
Almost.
[Because hey, not like he knows any. :'D]
Just Mr Lineface this time, Bugface. <3
She casually walks in for the first time and looks around. She's been there for well over a week and it's pretty sad that she didn't know that working in the kitchen was something that the residents could do at any time.]
Hello?
hello, ma'am
To be quite honest, it had taken him a good week or two himself to find this out himself. No one tell the others that, though.Going through the plants, he ends up placing them off to the side when he hears another voice coming from the entrance.]Can I help you, miss-?
[Says the one with grey hair and an apron on.]
Hello to you too, Yu.
She steps more into the kitchen, trying to seem as nonthreatening as possible, considering she's been a soldier for the last four years.]
Hello. My name is Tear, and Rise Kujikawa said that I should come here for the group that would be cooking without poisoning? E-evidently, Luke asked her to include me. [Yes, that might be a slight blush, but she'll never admit to it.]
'sup besides the least experienced trying to gather the experienced?
...Sigh. Yet another one persuaded by the rumors. He wasn't sure whether to believe them or not, but still... He was only really here because he preferred to cook for himself.]
Sounds like Luke and Rise, alright...
[Noting that blush, gurl. He holds out a clean hand to her.] Yu Narukami. It's nice to meet you, Tear.
Not too much. Tear's still getting a feel for the Tower.
She doesn't believe the rumor, but she's cautious by nature and to be be singled out to be warned about the food has her hackles up.]
I haven't had any issues with the food myself, but I am a healer capable of purging most illnesses from my body and those of my comrades. I offered my services to Rise in case anyone ended up poisoned, but I haven't heard about any need for my services.
[Yu's a gentleman for not mentioning it though. Thanks! She takes his hand and shakes it briefly.]
It's nice to finally meet the person that Luke calls teacher. He's only given that position to my brother before. I'm glad that he's found someone more worthy of his trust than Van.
EITHER OR BOTH (ノ^∇^)ノ-♥♥♥♥♥♥
threatened lolpromised, hereeeeee's Risette~! (◕∇^)ノ~☆]Here I am! Rise Kujikawa, reporting for duty!
I SAY THEE BOTH... (-﹏⊙✿)
There really needs to be a word in the English language for promise and threaten, nglFor some reason, a chill goes down Yu's spine when he hears that familiar voice behind him as they sort out ingredients. No really, he may as well have been stuck into the freezer because holy shit. This will likely not end well for their stomachs gods above help them.]
Hello, Rise.
[...
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALP.]
no subject
He'll just look over and pull one hand from the bread dough he's kneading to give Rise a slight wave. What are normal people greetings and how do they work.]
no subject
cue the Jaws theme? or would something like the Imperial March be more fitting here]So what are we making, guys?
[Hay Asch hay, she is probs up in your bread-kneading business just a little, because that's slightly more interesting than sorting flowers out of things.]
no subject
Definitely the Imperial March]Bread and sauce that is floral-free.
[Because seriously why would they put lavender in the butter or other spreads...]
Rise, Asch. Asch, [your current personal space invader] Rise.
no subject
[Even if he was a little bit future crazy at the time, hey, no big deal, right Rise?]
Probably do some of the meat, too.
[HE LIKES CHICKEN OK.]
