Summary: Shinji takes advantage of the poison plants meaning a more empty cafeteria.

[Whether or not he is, Shinji likes to think he's clever. So, naturally, he thinks he's being very crafty by taking advantage of the poisoned food in the cafeteria. It should mean fewer people are there now, right? So, he's much less likely to get caught if he decides to sneak one of the alcoholic drinks.]

[Which, he does. He's curious about them, particularly given the tastes of his Servant. When he sits, he picks the most out of the way seat he can find, conspicuously attempting to be inconspicuous as he grips his glass in both hands and leans over it, tequila close to his mouth.]

[...He can't quite bring himself to drink it, though. It's not like he's worried about doing something "bad" or getting in trouble, but... It smells weird. Still half-huddled over the drink in an attempt to hide it, he sniffs it again, his nose wrinkling.]

[Shinji promptly squawks and nearly leaps out of his chair.]

Wh— How long have you been standing there?!

[puppy_lancer]

[He shrugs.]

Not very long.

[He sniffs at the tequila.]

Also, you might want something lighter. That stuff smells strong and you're tiny. Unless you wanna get drunk quickly.

I have better things to do than get drunk. I just want to try it.

[He sounds a little defensive as he says this. A little bit of curiosity is normal, right?]

[puppy_lancer]

Ah, then start with something lighter. I'll get you a beer or some wine or something.

[Nope, not even gonna mention how alcohol might be bad for kids.]

[. . .]

...Alright. Make it snappy, then.

[Lancer: A good influence on kids.]

[puppy_lancer]

[He zips off. Within a few minutes, he's back with a bottle of red wine.]

[When Lancer returns, Shinji eyes the bottle with something that is a mixture of trepidation and curiosity. Maybe that's why he doesn't urge Lancer on, instead silently waiting for him to pour him some.]

[puppy_lancer]

[Lancer first holds the bottle out to Shinji, but then reconsiders, grabs a cup, and pours Shinji what would be about a mouthful. After all, he can't risk the brat throwing the entire bottle away because he didn't like it.]

Drink up, kid.

[looselips]

[Yeah, well, he wasn't going to drink straight out of a wine bottle like some kind of alcoholic anyway. He takes the cup, and again, he studies it, cautiously sniffing before doing anything else. Then, he takes a sip.]

[...He squints, and then his mouth puckers. He's not really sure how to feel about it, so he just kind of glares down at the bottom of his cup.]

[puppy_lancer]

[He looks at Shinji pucker up and chuckles.]

Not to your taste, kid?

[looselips]

It tastes...weird.

[Maybe not bad, just...strange.]

[puppy_lancer]

Give it a few sips. Stops being so weird when you're used to it.

[looselips]

[He takes another sip. His reaction is about the same.]

It tastes like it's spoiled.

[He doesn't stop to think about what wine is, which makes the comment a little silly.]

[puppy_lancer]

Is it?

[He picks up the bottle, sniffs at it, and then lifts the bottle to his lips and takes a drink.]

Tastes fine to me.

[looselips]

No, I mean...

[He only thinks about the whole fermented grapes thing when he opens his mouth to clarify, and then he feels stupid, so instead he says:]

...Forget it. You can have it.

[puppy_lancer]

[He brings the wine to his lips and takes another chug. Again, he can't really taste anything that would make Shinji feel weird.]

This isn't even my type of drink. I like the stronger stuff better.
