Characters: Legolas and OPEN.
Setting: Forest floor, during the day.
Format: Prose to start, will swap though.
Summary: Zelda gave Legolas the ability to use Light Arrows. Cue practicing until exhausted.
Warnings: None?

Following Zelda giving Legolas the ability to use Light Arrows, the elf had found himself pondering just how to use them. He knew, like all of his people, how to force a sleep upon those that might terrorize them or to put fires to 'sleep' but he'd never done anything so fantastic as what Gandalf might do.

This was something he knew that he could do though, with practice. A lot of practice. And the sooner he got started, the better. She had mentioned enchanting his own arrows though, so that was how he would start.

The elf found a familiar spot, one he'd used to train many times before and where he usually started to go hunting, drew back and arrow and tried to focus. She'd said holy magic so he focused on that and tried but fired only a regular arrow. Again he fired and again he fired a regular arrow. He was patient though and kept focusing his energy until, finally, he was able to fire one holy powered Light Arrow at the tree, watching at the light shined as it left his hold and slammed into the tree.

With a grin, one that was noticeably smug, he drew on what he had moments before and fired another.

Little did Legolas realize that there were another pair of eyes watching him from the shrubbery nearby. The march warden often liked to spy upon his beloved Legolas out of his own impish desire to watch him train. He knew that his love honestly didn't mind the intrusion, but sometimes Haldir didn't want to make his presence known. He always felt as if he hindered Legolas during his training, especially since the young elven prince was easily distracted by him. Though, once a flash of light flew past him and towards the adjacent tree, Haldir couldn't hide his presence no longer.

"Magic...?" The march warden questioned once he stepped out from the bushes. He eyed the mark upon the tree with a look of pure awe before turning his gaze towards Legolas. "You've learned...magic?" There was a look of skepticism within Haldir's gaze. He wasn't too sure what to think about this turn of events.

"Is this Gandalf's doing?"

Haldir's brow knitted together for a moment as he tried to make sense of what Legolas said. "Zelda gave you this power?" He repeated slowly with some skepticism in his gaze. Zelda was a very bright and intelligent young woman, but he hadn't known her to be skilled in magic as well. In Middle-earth, magic was rarely used if even at all during the ages. Such power typically came with a price.

Still looking rather confused, Haldir awaited for Legolas to speak more about his new skill. "How is this possible?" He asked in a hushed tone. "I did not realize the depth of the bond you share with Zelda."

Yotsuba had left the safety of the barricade for awhile since she was hungry and wanted to stretch her legs. After she ate and left the cafeteria, she had wandered down until she found the forest. It looked interesting, so she decided to wander around and see what she could find, and maybe practice her sling throwing, if she found a good tree.

However, she wasn't expecting to find a person firing something into a tree. While that amazed her, her eyes really went wide when she saw a magical arrow fired into the tree. Unable to contain herself, she ran over next to him-but not in front of him-yelling all the while.

"That was awesome! How did you do that? Was that magic? What are you shooting?"
sunflowerfairy: (Huh..?)

Not that Legolas really needed to worry about holding back his shots. Yotsuba was a slinger and was a bit used to throwing weapons, even if she didn't know what arrows were. However, she did stay put, watching Legolas and smiling all the while.

"I don't know what holy is..but that sounds wonderful! Zelda must be a good person! Oh..are you a good person?"

It was the usual question she asked strangers. While she was naive and believed people when they said they were good people, she still asked it nonetheless, since Daddy had told her to stay away from bad people.

Oh, Yotsuba and Zelda had met before, but Yotsuba hadn't managed to get her name. Back then, the Administrators had warped her, and Yotsuba was more interested in not dying than talking. But if she saw the woman again, she would recognize her. But, apparently, thinking you were a good person was enough, since Yotsuba wasn't leaving his side.

"Alright then! But..what is that?" She asked, pointing to his bow. "It was shooting something, but they don't look like stones."

Thorin squinted, as he saw the shining light ahead of him. It was like beams of light, yet it intrigued him greatly. Was it some kind of magic perhaps? He threw the sack of meats over his shoulder, as he went to investigate the beams of light ahead. His fingers caressed his sword hilt in case it was something sinister. He could never tell within the tower, as monsters seem to thrive along the halls.

Thorin walked past a large tree and spotted the elf, Legolas. He was using some kind of shining arrows. Were they enchanted arrows?

"Hail, Legolas. I could not notice the light coming from your arrows. Did Gandalf enchant those for you?"

Yotsuba was a very odd child, and didn't know about things that most children normally knew about sometimes. Not that she really minded, to be honest. It just made the whole world seem more exciting. However, when Legolas said that it was more effective than stones, she looked rather surprised.

"Could Yotsuba use it then?! I have a sling..but if a bow is better, Yotsuba would like to use it to defend myself!"
sunflowerfairy: (Huh..?)

[personal profile] sunflowerfairy 2013-06-29 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
And Yotsuba was glad that she could use a better weapon and avoid dying again. After all..death was painful, and she didn't want to make people worry, or die for good and not be able to see Daddy and everyone else when they were found and helped.

"Okay! Could I help make it? Yotsuba helped make the sling!"

Not that Yotsuba knew about any of that, sadly. All she knew-and was concerned about-that a bow was better than a sling and that she had helped make a sling before, so she might be able to help make the bow and use it.

"That's fine! I've never done it before, so it'll be fun!"
sunflowerfairy: (Excited)

"Oh! You had better rest then so you don't get sore!"

..It might seem a bit weird that Yotsuba was trying to tell someone older than her what to do, but it was possible that this person didn't know about being sore and resting.

"Yotsuba will! When can we start then?!"
sunflowerfairy: (Huh..?)

"Okay then! It's good that you do! That way, others won't worry! I have a mailbox, so you can send me a letter when you're ready..but what's a..pinging?"

While it probably meant something like 'child' or 'little one', it was still a weird word to Yotsuba, and she was curious about it.

"Pinig.."

Yotusba tried out the word to make sure she had it right before nodding and smiling up at the man again.

"Alright! Yotsuba understands now! Diarmuid calls me a little one a lot..but what is your tongue?"
sunflowerfairy: (Huh..?)

[personal profile] sunflowerfairy 2013-06-30 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
She and Diarmuid had become great friends, but that didn't mean that Yotsuba was always out of danger, since she tended to wander and because Diarmuid had his own life to tend to. He couldn't always keep an eye on her.

"Oh..what's elvish?"
