Characters: Legolas and OPEN.
Setting: Forest floor, during the day.
Format: Prose to start, will swap though.
Summary: Zelda gave Legolas the ability to use Light Arrows. Cue practicing until exhausted.
Warnings: None?
Following Zelda giving Legolas the ability to use Light Arrows, the elf had found himself pondering just how to use them. He knew, like all of his people, how to force a sleep upon those that might terrorize them or to put fires to 'sleep' but he'd never done anything so fantastic as what Gandalf might do.
This was something he knew that he could do though, with practice. A lot of practice. And the sooner he got started, the better. She had mentioned enchanting his own arrows though, so that was how he would start.
The elf found a familiar spot, one he'd used to train many times before and where he usually started to go hunting, drew back and arrow and tried to focus. She'd said holy magic so he focused on that and tried but fired only a regular arrow. Again he fired and again he fired a regular arrow. He was patient though and kept focusing his energy until, finally, he was able to fire one holy powered Light Arrow at the tree, watching at the light shined as it left his hold and slammed into the tree.
With a grin, one that was noticeably smug, he drew on what he had moments before and fired another.

"Magic...?" The march warden questioned once he stepped out from the bushes. He eyed the mark upon the tree with a look of pure awe before turning his gaze towards Legolas. "You've learned...magic?" There was a look of skepticism within Haldir's gaze. He wasn't too sure what to think about this turn of events.
"Is this Gandalf's doing?"

Looking towards Haldir and giving him a slightly smug look, Legolas lowered his bow and placed his arrow back in his quiver. Wiping the sweat away before it fell into his eyes, he stepped towards the older elf.
"No, the wizard had no part in this. It was Zelda who gave me this skill."
Surprising, right?

Still looking rather confused, Haldir awaited for Legolas to speak more about his new skill. "How is this possible?" He asked in a hushed tone. "I did not realize the depth of the bond you share with Zelda."
no subject
He couldn't help but chuckle softly at the idea of sharing a close bond with Zelda when they were more or less just friends, if even that. And she had recruited him into Pandora and helping place the chips across the tower. Not that he could say anything here where Ruana could hear.
"After so long of knowing her within this tower, I actually know very little of her. But I know that she has become an important figure to the morale of many people here."
no subject
"Not many seem to know of Zelda well but I suppose this is how she wants it." Haldir turned his gaze from Legolas and glanced towards the tree again. He still didn't quite believe that Zelda possessed such an ability before, but then again he never really knew her.
"She is indeed important to us all." The march warden replied after a moment or two of silence. "Though, I wonder if she realizes that."
no subject
"I think that she does. She's wise and intelligent, Gandalf would not have given her his ring otherwise."
For all Legolas thought he knew her, Haldir's thoughts mirrored his own. There really was very little he actually knew about the Hylian princess. And that was likely for the best with how unsure their future was now.

"Mithrandir is wise to trust her." The march warden replied with a slight smile. "That is a truth that goes without saying, doesn't it?" His smile widen a little.
no subject
"It does. She's done well for one so young. Although, I suppose we've all been forced to grow and mature far more quickly here than elsewhere."
He missed the days when he could just go somewhere and expect the best of a day rather than wonder what danger he'd have to avoid or what kinds of monsters he might encounter.

However, she wasn't expecting to find a person firing something into a tree. While that amazed her, her eyes really went wide when she saw a magical arrow fired into the tree. Unable to contain herself, she ran over next to him-but not in front of him-yelling all the while.
"That was awesome! How did you do that? Was that magic? What are you shooting?"
no subject
"It was magic, yes. Magic that Princess Zelda taught me, arrows blessed with holy power."
Which he was still having trouble with. For one who had only a very basic ability with the Arts of his own people, using something like this took a lot more out of him than he thought it would. Even for one of the Firstborn.

"I don't know what holy is..but that sounds wonderful! Zelda must be a good person! Oh..are you a good person?"
It was the usual question she asked strangers. While she was naive and believed people when they said they were good people, she still asked it nonetheless, since Daddy had told her to stay away from bad people.

"Zelda is a very good person. And I like to think that I'm a good person."
Maybe his decisions here in the tower weren't always the best, he could sometimes be reckless, but he tried to put others before himself whenever he could.
no subject
"Alright then! But..what is that?" She asked, pointing to his bow. "It was shooting something, but they don't look like stones."
no subject
"It is a bow. We use arrows with it, far more effective in battle than stones in my experience."
no subject
"Could Yotsuba use it then?! I have a sling..but if a bow is better, Yotsuba would like to use it to defend myself!"
no subject
"One would have to be crafted for you but yes, you could. You will also need a bracer to protect your arm from the string of the bow."
no subject
"Okay! Could I help make it? Yotsuba helped make the sling!"

Thorin walked past a large tree and spotted the elf, Legolas. He was using some kind of shining arrows. Were they enchanted arrows?
"Hail, Legolas. I could not notice the light coming from your arrows. Did Gandalf enchant those for you?"
no subject
"No, the Wizard did not. He once used his skills to set my arrows aflame but that was his doing rather than my own. This ability has been granted me by Princess Zelda."
no subject
"Who might this Princess Zelda be? She must have magic if she can alight an arrow with light magic such as this."
no subject
"I will use them to defend my friends and allies. Against anything that the tower might throw at us."
Including Ruana herself or Jason. Especially Jason, if he ever had the chance. Legolas still had a grudge against the administrator for turning him into little more into a slave, an orc. And that was only recent events, he had an entire year so far to build up reasons to hate the administrators.
"Zelda is the princess of the kingdom of Hyrule. It's a world very far from our own, I would assume as she does indeed have the use of magic."

Walking forward, feet light and quiet, Legolas pulled his arrows from the tree and checked them over for any damage, deciding whether to keep them or carve new ones. They seemed alright enough though, at least enough that they would last through another fight before he'd have to replace them.
"They are alike in appearance but little else. Zelda has long and pointed ears like elves but she is mortal."
no subject
"A mortal she-elf? That is something I have never heard of. Then, these creatures must differ greatly from your race, Legolas." Thorin did not care much for the race of elves, yet Legolas was a valued ally here. He could say he and the elf had become close friends.
no subject
So be it. The elf would prefer to die.
"Zelda's race are not elves. I imagine she'd be a bit offended if she heard you call her such." Especially with how terribly impish Haldir tended to be around the princess. "Speak with the princess if ever you've time, I'm sure she'd be pleased to tell you of her race. Or seek out her friend, Link. He is also Hylian."
He could also talk with Tetra if he ever ran into the child.
