Summary: Rei hosts a hotdog eating competition

[Today, starting from lunchtime, diners might notice something odd about the cafeteria. Rei had pushed several tables together and covered them with piles of hot dogs. Chairs surrounded the tables and a crayon sign, standing out from all the hot dogs, was in the center of the tables.]



[And Rei herself was sitting in one of the chairs. She was already gulping down hot dogs at the rate of one per mouthful. Her mouth was seemingly distended to show a gaping maw and white teeth too many in number to belong in a human mouth.]

[Indeed, if anyone takes up the challenge, it might be a formidable one...]

[When Rei gets back, she holds out the condiments to Nue.]

Hold on, let me give you some relish.

[Rather than applying it directly to the hot dog, Nue first squirts some ketchup onto her fingers and licks it up.]

It's...tangy.

[terreifying]

Of course. It's got lots of flavor so when you put it on food, the food gets lots of flavor too.

[undefines]

[Okay, fine. Squirts it on the hot dog...]

[...She decides to try the mustard before applying it, too. This time, she sniffs it before putting it in her mouth.]

[terreifying]

[Rei just watches silently, waiting to see if Nue likes it.]

[Licks it... She doesn't comment on the taste this time, her lips pursing together and her eyes narrowing slightly.]

[But, okay, sure, she'll put it on her hot dog. Bites...]

...It tastes weird.

[Not bad, necessarily, but it's so outside the normal range of what she eats that she's not quite sure what to make of it.]

[terreifying]

[Rei stares intently at Nue, observing the other girl's reaction.]

Good weird, or bad weird?

[undefines]

Just...weird.

[She takes another bite, looking no less certain.]

[terreifying]

You'll get used to it. Then it'll be a good weird.

[undefines]

Hm... [As she polishes this one off, she says:] I think I like them better plain

you saw nothing

[terreifying]

Oh. That's alright too.

[She starts dressing up her own hotdog with the condiments she grabbed.]

I'll just use all the relish instead.

[undefines]

[She hasn't tried the relish yet, and she isn't sure she wants to. She leans toward Rei and sniffs.]

What is that even made of, anyway?

[terreifying]

...Plants?

[She hasn't really read the ingredients for relish.]

[undefines]

No wonder it smells like that, then. [She wrinkles her nose as she says this. 1500-year-old youkai or 12-year-old boy? You make the call.]

[terreifying]

Well, humans can't eat all meat all the time. Even if meat tastes better.

[She's just gonna treat Nue like a pet. One that needs so many things explained to it.]

Well, I'm not a human.

[terreifying]

You can still learn some things from them. Like making all sort of food. Like hot dogs aren't the only way that humans can cook meat.
