and I need someone to talk to apart from you

Characters: Zo, open
Setting: floor 001
Format: brackets, party-style
Summary: Zo visits the residential levels of the Tower.
Warnings: none so far

[The elevator dings as its doors slide open--that's not an unusual occurrence, really, for a floor that not only houses one of the elevator stopping points but also the most reliable food sources. What's unusual, though, is the boy who steps out of it.

Zo enters the cafeteria, looking around as if he hasn't seen it in some time, which is true. He's followed by one retrieval unit. While she looks as blank as any retrieval unit, her collar is chipped and she wears glasses. In fact, she might be a bit familiar to some, though she will not respond (but there's something... Unusually alive about her, even so).

Though he's careful not to stray far from his bodyguard, he smiles at the floor in general.]

Um... Hi! Wow, it's been a while since I've been up here!

...oh.

[Quark's demeanor deflates like a punctured tire. Slowly and with an attempt to remain full of energy, but heading toward an inevitable flat.]

I guess that makes sense, too.

[He still didn't want to believe it--that their bodies were fake. He wanted it to be a big, bad, scary dream. Quark looks at his feet, which he shuffles as he tries to figure out how to continue talking from there.]

Um...so...why did you decide to come up here anyway if you didn't need to?
averytinyparticle: (ain't nobody got no time for that)

[Quark offers a heavy shrug.]

Kinda. But, I dunno, I mean...I think other people had it way harder than I did.

[And goodness, he didn't want to sound ungrateful. Grandpa taught him better than that. Quark had met a few nice people here who had been willing to keep an eye out for him, and he had been able to keep out of trouble decent enough by hiding in small spaces to sleep.]

I don't want to complain about it or anything. [He pauses, and smiles back--if a little awkwardly.] I think it's really nice that you're visiting.
