Summary: Aleph and April are getting married. No, they don't care that they're doing it in a horrortower in a Jason month - this is still a celebration.
Warnings: Nothing is likely to come up.

[Two demons guarded the entrance of the crystal caverns: the signs that they were 'dressed up' were the handmade flower crowns that adorned their heads. Upon meeting a guest to the party, one would usher them inside, where a small collection of folding chairs was set out with the requisite aisle in between them.

Other than that, it seemed very simply set up. Aleph and April needed a little time to get ready, so until then, guests would have the opportunity to mingle.]

Ah - thank you very much. [Aleph smiles even more and takes one pouch.] What are these?

I wasn't really sure what to get for you. After all, you already have the one thing everyone wants--love.

[Diarmuid's being a little sentimental. Leave him alone.]

What is inside is a pair of stones marked with runes. One is marked with a rune for strength to use as a focus and a director when preparing for battle. The other is marked with a rune for protection. I expect you will be able to tell which is which by the magical aura that surrounds the protection rune. I had my brother actually cast a spell on it, but as I told April the spell cannot protect you as a shield would. It's effects are more subtle in nature.

[Diarmuid shrugs, smiling a little sheepishly.]

Runic magic is temperamental as much magic is. Some things it will give directly and others it won't. I know you are a skilled fighter and you have your demons to watch your back, but considering how unpredictable things are around here, I don't expect a little extra protection will hurt.

These are incredibly thoughtful gifts. [Aleph takes the stones and holds them in his palm.] I wasn't expecting to receive anything for such an odd type of a wedding, really.

Thank you. They may be simple, but as with a great many simple things the true value lies in what you make of them. Hopefully, they will prove to be of great worth to you.

[Diarmuid laughs softly.]

And I quite liked your odd wedding, so stop worrying and enjoy yourself. Both of you deserve the happiness. Hopefully, you have some plans for just the two of you once this is all over.

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at Aleph.]

The time you two spend together after the wedding is the most important part. It's time for you two to celebrate the way you want to with no one around to bother you.

[He laughs.]

Well, no one except the Administrators since they have cameras everywhere. I guess that means you probably won't be doing what normal couples do right after the wedding...

[Diarmuid swears to himself. He had forgotten that while Aleph looks like and acts like and adult, he isn't quite what he seems. Now...how does he even...]

Why don't you talk to April about that? I am sure she will be able to explain. Besides, whatever you two end up deciding to do, it is something you should decide together.

[Passing the buck and changing the topic? Seems as good an answer as any.]

April's not any more knowledgeable about weddings than I am, but I'll ask.

[Shrug. It must be something good, to be part of a wedding.]

[Diarmuid runs a hand through his hair. Perhaps he should have guessed April might not know either with how nervous she had seemed, but he has only known her a short time and had really just written the nervousness off to more common reasons. After all, all brides tend to be nervous on their wedding days from what he knows.]

Well, if it is something she really doesn't know about, then it can be something you two can learn together, right? It will be an adventure...in getting to know each other even better than you already do...

[Diarmuid chuckles lightly, relaxing a little when he realizes he won't have to explain more thoroughly.]

I think you will have a lot of fun when you do. More than if anyone else told you about it anyway.

Yes, as surprising as it may seem, the Tower has a lot of good things to teach us if we only listen. Sometimes, I wish people would be more willing to listen.

That's something that won't always happen, unfortunately.

No, unfortunately, it won't, but there are some of us who listen. It will just be up to us to pass on what we learn from listening so nothing is missed. Not an easy job, but not an impossible one either.

I think I've faced a few more difficult challenges.

Yes, while making people listen is often difficult, it is not nearly so as a great many other things we face here.

[Diarmuid laughs.]

But this is a wedding and I shouldn't have you talking about such things. Please enjoy the rest of your celebration. I am going to find my Master before he causes any trouble. He is a curious man and I fear he might end up asking the wrong questions to the wrong demon...
