Cripplekat: Attempt to clim8 stairs.
Characters:
romcomedian and YOU
Setting: The Stairwell
Format: I'll match.
Summary: Karkat is fucking tired of laying around in bed after nearly a month -- not quite fully healed, he's venturing out to try and get to the library. And its taking a longass time.
Warnings: Usual Bluekat warnings.
Karkat extremely done with being pinned to a hospital bed feeling like shit. Thankfully, the horrible paranoia finally subsided long enough for him to pull himself forcefully out of his bed to wander out of the infirmary. Every one of his limbs was extremely stiff, as he hadn't gotten out of bed without help since his arrival. Now he knows why.
Cripple or not, Karkat has an image to keep. He's not going to take the time to shrug his dress shirt on, but he pulls his jacket off the coat rack to cover up the bandages still wrapped around his torso. His arm remained in the cast, but the sling had been disposed of a few days ago.
There was no way to fix his hair, so his hand would have to do until he could locate a fucking comb or something. At least he didn't look like a complete frump. At least not until he started to try and climb the stairs. He would only reach the next floor up before he started to run out of breath.
Stupid spiderbitch and her stupid problems fucking up his physical health.

She also wasn't eager to pass through a few of the specific floors between the dormitories and the library in question and, after all, it was a shorter trip to take the elevator down and then climb up the few floors to the library. That was how she ended up ascending the staircase behind Karkat, and it wasn't until she was fairly close that she looked up from the stairs and saw him. Blinking, she stopped. It was kind of hard to fail to recognize him, even from behind. Hadn't he been in the infirmary? That was a little while back, but... well, maybe he was alright, even if he didn't look quite right from back there. "Karkat...?"
no subject
"Sup," Karkat replied smoothly, running his undamaged hand through his hair, casually wiping a bit of sweat off onto his sleeve. "Surprised your out after all the shit that's been going down."
no subject
That comment, though, wiped the smile off of her face fairly efficiently. "I... had it pretty easy." All things considered, anyway. "But I think it's best if I try to-- keep my mind off of some things, and I'm not going to be able to do that in my room." Especially since being trapped in one room was all too reminiscent of certain other hopeless situations. She attempted to smile again along with that to downplay her concerns, then glanced briefly over what remained of his injuries. "...What about you?" She did not add, 'I'm surprised you're out, too,' for the sake of his pride.

He also kind of liked Naminé, so maybe he could spare a few minutes to try and help her out.
"Yeah? Then what's eating you that you need the wander in the first place?"
no subject
The question seemed to make her uncomfortable, and she opened her mouth to respond, then closed it again before glancing at the ground, starting to shrug, then stopping, her shoulder returning to a slightly higher position than they'd previously been. "It's complicated." At least, parts of it were, and really, she never did feel comfortable talking about her problems. And yet... maybe it would help. A moment more's hesitation, and, "I guess you could say I'm still recovering from the experiment. I was in group 'D', if that means anything."
no subject
"I don't much know what group had to do with what, but I guess I get you," he admitted, rubbing the back of his head. Did that mean he had to supply his group as well? "I went through it too. Group B, though."
no subject
"I know some people who were in group B. Did you get really suspicious of everyone?" That had seemed to be the common theme among them, anyway.
no subject
He didn't bother mentioning how shitty it felt. That went without saying.
no subject
She also took note of the mention of the people he knew with an 'even' in front, but said nothing about it."I was lucky enough to not have to go through that. Instead, my-- I don't know if everyone in my group got the same thing, but for me it was... hopelessness."

Luckily everyone seemed back to normal now, so when he saw the troll coming up the stairs towards him he pressed against the wall a little frightened. Until he saw that he was hurt, his arm was in a cast just like Romeo's leg had been when he had fallen from the roof.
"Are you alright?" He bounced forward, everyone had been so nice and helpful while he had been part deer (until they had tried to kill him at least) and he wanted to help people too now that he was better.
no subject
"Yeah. Just peachy," he grumbled, straightening to preserve some of his dignity to the best of his ability.
no subject
"Did someone hurt you? Or did you fall?" He looked at the cast on the arm, it was scary that here in this tower his first thought was that someone had done that to the boy on purpose, probably they had been made to by the bad people.
no subject
"Happened about a month ago," he replied simply, forcing a shrug. "No falling. Just me getting my ass kicked."
no subject
no subject
"Not as bad as it did, I guess?" Karkat replied, raising an eyebrow. "Look, I'm fine. I'm pretty good at avoiding injury, usually, but its not like I'm not used to it."
no subject
"Don't worry!" Romeo made his decision quickly and smiled, reaching out to grab the trolls hand. "I'll make sure no one else hurts you! I promise!" Because no one should be hurt, ever.

What are you doing?
no subject
Holy fuck, can you give me a warning or something?
no subject
[She grins, giving his arm a tug.]
Why are you out of bed?
no subject
Can't a guy take a leisurely walk?
no subject
Nope! You owe me a date, remember?

Alright. Lets go then.
[...its slow going, but he'll be leading her to the game room.]
