Setting: The Stairwell
Format: I'll match.
Summary: Karkat is fucking tired of laying around in bed after nearly a month -- not quite fully healed, he's venturing out to try and get to the library. And its taking a longass time.
Warnings: Usual Bluekat warnings.

Karkat extremely done with being pinned to a hospital bed feeling like shit. Thankfully, the horrible paranoia finally subsided long enough for him to pull himself forcefully out of his bed to wander out of the infirmary. Every one of his limbs was extremely stiff, as he hadn't gotten out of bed without help since his arrival. Now he knows why.

Cripple or not, Karkat has an image to keep. He's not going to take the time to shrug his dress shirt on, but he pulls his jacket off the coat rack to cover up the bandages still wrapped around his torso. His arm remained in the cast, but the sling had been disposed of a few days ago.

There was no way to fix his hair, so his hand would have to do until he could locate a fucking comb or something. At least he didn't look like a complete frump. At least not until he started to try and climb the stairs. He would only reach the next floor up before he started to run out of breath.

Stupid spiderbitch and her stupid problems fucking up his physical health.

[It's a subtle reminder, but nothing else. He hides the light smirk by turning his head and wandering out of the room toward the stairs.]

[She makes a face, but follows anyway. It's not working. It's just that he reminds her of Karkat, that's all. But saying it would totally make him flip out.]

Someone is getting cocky!

[He senses her doubt too, though he can't pinpoint the route cause of it. He's not really interested in knowing -- part of him also feels really weird about this.]

[God its so hard to not be an asshole about this, despite feeling weird about it. In fact, being an asshole usually makes that go away.

So instead of ignoring the gesture, he lets her pull his arm toward him, and then proceeds to wrap it around the small of her spine, pinching the skin at her hip.]

Don't trip. Like we need another stair fiasco.

[The whole point of this was to prove his point, wasn't it? Well, this was working, so why not take advantage of it? He leads her straight to the wall of the stairwell, pressing his forehead to her's and lowering his voice.]

I haven't heard a protest from the lady in question yet.

[WOW NOPE. She cannot handle that, and goes bright teal. She's trying to remind herself that he isn't her Karkat, but that doesn't stop the butterflies in her stomach or the sudden rush of emotion she can't quite place. She's starting to wonder if this has anything to do with her Karkat at all. Too bad she can't back up because of that wall.]

Then you haven't been listening.

[Karkat doesn't buy that for a second, but ok. If that's the way she's gonna play, then he can play that game too. He lingers there for a moment, eyelids drawing a bit, before he draws his hand away, deliberately sliding along her side as he twists his way out of her hold and continues walking, giving her a two-fingered wave.]

Well hey, if you couldn't handle a date, you should've said so earlier. No big, though. We can just hang out.

[She knows he's manipulating her, but oddly enough, she does really care. Terezi rolls her eyes and follows, reaching for his arm again. Maybe she should just... Give him a chance.]

[When she laces her arm with his again, he doesn't react -- he just stops walking to look down at her. The corner of his mouth quirks upward slightly.]

Sending me mixed signals here, Pyrope. Spit it out.

[That, Terezi, was probably the biggest mistake you ever could've made. Now its become a challenge, and if there's one thing Karkat and Vriska appear to have in common, its refusal to back down from those challenges for sake of pride alone.

So again, he turns in her arm, but this time when he presses her to the wall, its far more invasive, both arms finding their way back to the small of her back. His lips find her's, soft and lingering long enough to demonstrate the complete lack of shame on his part, his own frame resting lightly against her's. Its only a moment before he seeks to withdraw again, slipping his hands smoothly into his pants pockets.

And then, like nothing happened:]

Yeah. Maybe.

[Wow, okay. What good are Seer powers if she can't see stuff like that coming?

She completely freezes, because hey, for all that posturing? She's never been kissed before, ever. And when he pulls away, her eyes are wide and her cheeks are teal and her heart is pounding in her chest and okay, that was actually nice. Really, really nice. Like, something she'd maybe like to do again nice.

But Hero of Heart or not, Terezi does her best to recover and seem unaffected. It doesn't really work.

[Karkat lets his smirk quirk upward before he turns around and seeks to retreat back down the stairs, still acting like nothing had happened.]

You comin' or what?

[She rolls her eyes, following.]

You knooow, if I didn't know better, I would think you were trying to get this over with as quickly as possible! You wouldn't do that to me, right?
