Not as planned
Characters: Anybody on Floor 101
Setting: Floor 101, in the immediate aftermath of event start
Format: Any you like
Summary: A general reaction log for the immediate aftermath of this for those characters who didn't get trapped in the dorm rooms. The post will start with a prompt for Dani herself, but if anybody wants to make use of this log as well rather than spam the comm, feel free. Also a reminder that powers do not work on floor 101 since a lot of us forgot orz
Warnings: Nothing yet, I'll change it if this does
[In all the chaos, it was easy for Dani to slip downstairs to try to change into ghost form without being really noticed. Except... she can't. The telltale rings never appear. That's right - she realizes - this floor doesn't allow her to use powers. Frustratedly, she hops back to the glowing stair going up. By the time she gets there, though, it's already blocked. She tries, in a last ditch effort, to phase through even without going ghost, but it's still no use. Besides, she feels a strange pressure on her hands as she tries - almost like something's pushing back]
I can't get through!
[At last she gives it up, staring up at the ceiling frustratedly. This was the first time something real had happened since she arrived, something she could actually do something about, and now she was trapped down here?]

The explosions indicated some kind of potential attack, but there was no obvious attacker. The damage was probably quite extensive. And it didn't look like they were getting back up there without a ton of effort.
First things first, headcount of those that had made it. She knows she'd seen a couple of people she recognized up there, and they're as good a place to start with as any.]
Sheba! Asch! Kyoko! Where the hell are you?!
[The lack of a prompt response tells her everything she needed to know and she swears under her breath, eyes scanning the room for anyone that looks like they might be especially useful at a time like this.
Sitting here hoping her friends hadn't been blown to hell isn't helping, so she's doing her best to remain composed in the rather chaotic aftermath and come up with a plan.]
... who made it out and what the hell just happened?
no subject
How should I know? All I know is I can't phase up there. Powers aren't working here...
[She sounds rather frustrated about this. She still doesn't like how this Tower tends to just... turn off powers at the drop of a hat. She turns to look back up the stairs, where the debris is pretty thick by now.]
Everyone's still up there, I think.

The explosions almost knocked him off his feet and when he realised they had come from above him he rushed to the stair case. Worried about all those he had seen going up there. Had it been some sort of trap?
The way above was trapped with rubble and he stared at it for a moment before trying to pull at it, after all there would be people trapped above and it would take work to get them out.

His reaction was to flee downstairs several floors, getting as far as the white room on the ninety-seventh floor before stopping. He's down there for a few minutes after everything quiets down, then he heads up.]
What the hell just happened? Did part of the tower collapse...?
[He can't move much of the debris himself, and he's not going to try too hard, just in case it collapses on him. But he is looking for a way up--or at least an sign that the dorms are collapsed or not.]

Stuff exploded, and probably.

[Having been upstairs asking questions--rather, listening to others asking whilst he listened in--Rick was in the thick of things when the Tower started collapsing around them. Confused, panicked and in an unfamiliar part of the building, his first instinct was to go to his room, four floors above, a familiar haven in times of distress. Unfortunately, in his haste to sprint to the stairwell, he's blindsided by debris and suffers a fairly nasty blow to the head. He's dazed enough when he recovers that he stumbles down the stairs instead of up (impossible anyways since that way's been blocked by this point) and he soon finds himself on the glowing step to floor 101. By the time he realizes his mistake, the way back has already collapsed behind him.]
[He's too exhausted to freak out fully. Rick settles instead between bracing futilely against the broken Tower structures in his path and pacing quick circles, pausing to mutter from one breathless gasp to the next: ]
...What just...where...a-are they...t-t-t-trapped? D-Dead? Oh god...I c-can't...s-someone...
[He's winded from running, his left wrist is inconveniently swollen and there's an alarming amount of blood running from his scalp, but none of those problems are quite as pressing as the nervous breakdown he's about to have.]

[Tobias right now is little more than a small beak peering out from some of the rubble.]

Yoooou don't look so good. Maybe you should take a bit to sit down?

yeah screw timelines i don't care
[ very calm military commander voice, yeah guess who used to be one. It's accompanied by a restraining hand on Rick's shoulder when Raven eventually approaches from his spot on the floor (perhaps close to a certain tree from the month previous), and in fact might've been likely to have been more physical, a light cuff across the back of his head or back or something were it not for the obvious presence of what is clearly a head wound. ]

oops meant rick's bleeding scalp but this is workable too
scalp is part of the head, same difference

Of course, that leaves her unable to get back up when she realizes some of her closest comrades didn't follow, and as she watches others attempt and fail to clear the debris blocking the way, it does not appear like that fact will change any time soon. Arthur, Arturia, Enoch, Asch... could they be...?
No.
Riki protected them all from the shrapnel, right? And... even if he didn't, Zo has his hold on their souls. They will be fine. She has to believe that, in order to focus on what must be done now.]
We need to clear the way to the infirmary. We have injured, and unless I am mistaken regarding the date, we will start falling unconscious due to missing our collar checks soon. If we are to figure out how to reach our friends again, we need to at least be mobile.
[Standing near the downward exit of the hanging garden, she speaks resolutely to whoever will listen.]
If you would join me, please come now. It is a long way down, and time is precious.

I can make us a short cut. We just need to get to a floor where powers work.
[There are some risks to that, of course, but those are definitely out-weighted by the present concerns.]

when it didn't explode. All of this aside, he froze in his tracks as he heard the explosion before he had a chance to reach the first floor. ]
Great Scott! Another explosion?!
[ Einstein immediately started barking and, as the courageous dog it was, ran headfirst into the dormitory levels.
... Alas Doc couldn't follow him. The shock of the explosion caused him to fall back down into the staircase, landing quite brutally on the 101th floor. At least he was safe from danger. Doc got back up as fast as he could, but by the time he did, the way was already blocked ]
Howdy doody time...
[ He immediately went to the blocked path, but obviously he couldn't do much. Ironically, they'd need explosives to open that up, he figured. Still eh was worried, not just for his dog but for anyone possibly stuck. ]
sometime after the initial shock?
Heeeey~. You're one of the scientist guys, aren't you?
[Rei had been watching the collar fluid when the explosions hit. While she was concerned about the people in the Tower, she also knows she has to secure the collar fluid.]

[Maybe it had been instinct on her part, heading down instead of into a room when the order was given (or perhaps just common sense since she had the suspicion that it would end with her trapped; staying in an easily-isolated place did not bode well). Regardless, it wasn't just one ghost kid trying to break through. Ignoring the blade she could summon on her own, she began swinging down on the rubble blocking her path back up with her old one they'd been so kind to give her back. Maybe it was for all the memories...
'Yeah right. Like they give a damn what we want.'
Maybe she's just hoping to break them into smaller bits for whoever tries after her, but who all knows. What she does know are there are still people up there, and while she doesn't know much of them at all... it still felt right.]
If we can't [slash] go through [smack] we BREAK [WHAM] through!
[Or at least try.]

Unfortunately, not much seems to be changing. She's no expert at this, but it seems like while there's a lot of rubble shifting, they aren't making much progress]
Any luck?

[Which is making it drastically harder to stay calm. Unlike many of her counterparts, without her healing or attacking powers Mia was next to useless; she could diagnose ailments and set broken bones, but without healing items or access to psynergy, she couldn't do anything to actively fix the problem. Nor was she strong enough to do any serious damage, especially to a cave-in like this, herself.]
[For now, she's going to stand staring at the rockslide, trying to think of a way to move it. At first glance she's calm, but anybody who looks closely might notice her shaking.]

What happened here?

That's how he regains his footing right in the middle of the garden of the twenty-ninth floor, frowning worriedly as he tilts his head up. He has absolutely no idea what happened to his friends and allies, if they've made it to safety themselves - but most of them have been long enough in the tower to know how to deal with situations like this, surely everyone is...
Well, wondering isn't going to get him anywhere, which is why Riku is opening another Corridor right back upstairs... though he settles for getting out at the ninetieth floor and climbing up the stairs the rest of the way, eyes sharp as he searches for familiar faces. Who else has made it out of the Dormitory floors?]
no subject
To put it quite simply, he has absolutely no idea what's going on. He had been heading to the cafeteria, when suddenly... BOOM. The black-haired Deadman immediately began running, the second he recovered from the massive shaking he had felt under his feet. That's when he spots another person climbing towards him. Is there something wrong with going that way?]
H-hey, what's going on?!
[Gray eyes are widened as he can feel his heart racing even faster. That guy seems... fairly worried about something. Ganta could have sworn he heard faint yelling and whatnot. Something is wrong, he can feel it. The thought of Darres and Ishtar being in trouble suddenly prods at the back of his mind. Even that annoying dog-eared guy. And... Shiro. Even though... he learned that about her. He's still worried. He can't help it. Clenching his teeth he finds himself incredibly worried, now.]

More problems. He paused momentarily picking up the scents, though the ones on the other side were more faint, likely because of the debris and everything that was blocking them.]

It's only now that he arrives, right after the explosions and the caving in. And he stares in horrified confusion at the mess and the gathered, disoriented tower residents.]
...what in the blazes is going on?
DYNAMIC ENTRY!
[Well, he forgot in the heat of the moment. He was down checking the game room when it happened; it's taken him quite a bit of time to fly all the way back up here, but given the cave-in he's forced to fly off the stairwell as he enters this floor.]
[Which causes his flight system to immediately cut out. Inertia lobs him into the air, then drops him back down to the floor with a shout of surprise. At least this time he doesn't go falling off the side of the tower. Instead, he collapses onto the floor into a tumbling roll, stopping in a kneeling position nearby someone else here.]
[He doesn't get up right away. Rather, he's looking over his shoulder at ruined way to the dorms.]
Great. We gonna have more of dose creepy shadow kids after us again?!
no subject
I would hope not!
[There's some evidence around the dragoon of rubble being shifted about. It's pretty subtle. There is a whole hell of a lot of rubble.]
