Yotsuba and...

Characters: Yotsuba Koiwai and you!~
Setting: Dorm room 1-03 and the dorm floors.
Format: Prose, but I'll match you.
Summary: A very shaken Yotsuba returns the the Tower and tries to find the people she knew so that she can 'warn' them and get some answers as to what happened to her.
Warnings: Yotsuba will be crying here. Seeing a dead father that you love dearly will do that. Information as to what she saw can be found on her profile.

When Yotsuba woke up, she wasn't expecting to be in a bed. Scared, she sat up and tried to think as to where she was, since she had forgotten a little bit, since so much time had passed, and since she had seen so many terrifying things. Remembering, and not bothering to read the the notes she had been given or look in her trunk, she got out of bed and carefully wandered into the hall. Her destroyed world had been terrible..and lonely. She didn't want her Daddy to be like that! She didn't want it at all..so she had to tell everyone so that they could come up with a plan and help him!

But just thinking about it had started to make her cry, and she didn't stop as she rushed about the dorm hallways, crying out, hoping to find someone she knew. Of course, if she bumped into someone else, that would be nice too, but..right now, her mind was going to the people here she knew and loved.

"L-Luci! Dia?! E..Enoch?! Zett! Romeo?! Mr..Mr Edgey?! Rick?! Are you guys here?! Help!"

Of course, to people she hadn't met, she would just look like a scared little kid that had just arrived. To people that knew her though..this would be a bittersweet homecoming of sorts.

[He endured through Yotsuba's story of being chased and eaten, and he thought to himself that if he called forth one of his monsters, she wouldn't know that he was the one to kill her. No one would. But no--Jeanne would know, surely!]

What a sad tale. I hope--I hope it was quick, that your suffering was brief.

[Gilles had not met Ryuunosuke in the Tower yet, although he had heard he was there. Yet at the same time, he had heard that he was gone. It was another source of his confusion, so Yotsuba wasn't wrong in thinking that he was mixed up. Gilles didn't always think clearly.]

Ah, no, I said that he is always with me, because he is always here.

[Gilles touched his chest.]

And two friends are never parted! As I love him dearly, he is my friend wherever I am, and here as well. So I speak of him that way.

Ah--!

[Gilles' eyes widened (further) as Yotsuba began to sing. So moving and so innocent! What a lovely song, what a naive child. He could hardly bear it!]

What a fine song. Well sung! You must sing to me more, Yotsuba. Yes... let us go and see the instruments. I will show you.

[As Judas comes up the stairs, he first notices only Caster, and smiles to him.]

Oh, Gilles, how are yo-

[But his face falls when he spots the girl with a hand in his, and he looks from one to the other in near-horror. He doesn't want to assume anything, but it definitely doesn't look good.]

[Gilles isn't someone with a face that's hard to read, and it's not difficult to pick up on the guilt and anxiety in his expression and in his bearing as Judas looks at him. He feels that Judas can instantly tell what he's been thinking. He's sure that he'll revile him and will abandon his promise to aid him. He's not sure if he should let go of Yotsuba's hand, so in a fit of indecision, he keeps hold of it.]

Judas--

[He isn't entirely sure what to say. This is a novel situation for him. Actually thinking about his actions! He doesn't like it.]

We were going to see the instruments. She was singing me a song.

[It's not as if he's done anything! He promised Jeanne. No innocents.]

Ah, is that so...? That sounds nice. And know about what, exactly? I'm not sure.

[He tries to smile again to reassure Yotsuba, although it's weak and faltering.]

Are you sure that's alright, Gilles? I mean...do you think you can manage...?

[Manage not to hurt her, of course.]

She means the bodies at home, which must be fixed if their souls are to be returned to them. [He understood this much, even if he doesn't understand the context at all. He was thinking of other things rather than puzzling out the situation.] Yes, it should be nice. Music is--nice, isn't it? I am all right, Yotsuba. I am only lonely, like you said. Without my friend. I was thinking of him.

[This is true, but he also feels conflicted about that. Ryuunosuke had understood and accepted him. Everyone else wants him to change! He is painfully aware of the fact that he could easily kill both Yotsuba and Judas, in a matter of moments. What if he is nothing but a dangerous beast?]

Your song was very moving! I don't wish to be lonely!

[This comes out of him in a confused rush.]

Ah, I don't--

[It's true that it's difficult to resist, even with the weight of the promise bearing down on him.]

I am unsure!

[He nods, a hand shooting to the coins in his pocket, turning one over in his fingers. He's very aware, unfortunately.] I see. Yes, I know of them...

I'm glad you're honest about it, at least. That's a good sign. If you don't mind, Yotsuba, then sure, I'll come.

King Ryuunosuke...

[Perhaps he really was gone. But then, everyone Gilles knew was already dead. So he didn't particularly worry about the bodies. Gilles smiled at Yotsuba, wearily. In some ways, the light had been cruel, to illuminate what he truly was.]

What a kind child.

Thank you, Judas. [He turned to him gratefully. A good sign, he'd said!] Yes, we can be together and play, and you don't have to be sad anymore. Neither will I! We will be brave, like Jeanne.

I'm sorry, I don't. I wish I did.

[He concedes to having his hand held pretty easily. It's clammy, even after he tries to wipe it on his pants.]

None of us will be lonely, as you say. We can keep each other company.

Jeanne is more than good, she is exceptionally good. She is a saint, one of the best people who ever lived. She was always very brave, even in the thick of battle. Even when she was burned alive, she did not lose faith!

[Judas isn't so sure this is a good topic for a conversation with a little girl, but he's just here for moral support. So he won't say anything about it.]

That's right, someone else may.

[It's a beautiful story! Also, Gilles is a perfect example of someone who does not know what is appropriate for children.]

She was the nicest girl in the world. She was burned alive because people are cruel. Yes, they were the worst people in the world, and I'll never forgive them.
