Happy Birthday Xion!

Characters: Elena, Turk Family, Team Ragnarock and anybody who is friends with the birthday girl
Setting: Floor 62 , November 18, afternoon - evening
Format: Open, anything goes
Summary: It's Xion’s birthday – at least the one selected. So, being proper parents, Reno and Elena are throwing their bitty girl a birthday party on the beach that will bleed into a solstice bonfire later into the evening.
Warnings: None for now

[Diarmuid smiles gently at Shion.]

How are things going? With what I asked you to do, that is?

[He means the work Shion is suppose to be doing learning his emotions, of course, but he doesn't want to be too specific and risk embarrassing the boy.]

[He smiles back though it does turn a little awkward when Diarmuid asks how his work is going] Alright... I'm not very good at it though... But I've been trying.

[Diarmuid reaches out to lightly ruffles Shion's hair.]

I didn't ask if if you were doing good. I merely asked if you were working on it. You can't be expected to get everything right the first time. It's not how this kind of things works. It takes a lot of hard work and patience.

[He blushed and nodded] I am... [He nodded] Sorry, I know it won't come easy, I just need to work harder.

Indeed. It is a hard process and hard work is required as a result, but I know you can do it.

[He gives Shion a curious look, puppy ears twitching forward.]

Do you think you have gotten anywhere at all? Even something little? Once you have gotten a few things, we need to meet again to discuss those things.

I'm not sure... I have a few things... I am not sure if they are useful though.

[He smiled softly] I can meet whenever you are free to meet me.

They are probably more useful than you think, so don't worry about that. We all see things differently and what might seem unimportant to you could be key to someone else's understanding.

[Diarmuid pauses for a moment to think.]

Why don't we try to meet sometime in December? I don't want to rush this stage of things because it is important for you to do this exploration of yourself. However, we do not want to delay if you are truly ready to move to the next stage of things.

December sounds good [He smiled and nodded, that gave him a little bit of time to hopefully get a grasp on his thought processes. He half wished he could speak to Safu, not that he wished she was here but just... that he could talk to her. She would be able to explain things, she knew more than him about the human brain.] Thank you again for helping...

You are welcome. I am confident this will make you stronger in the end and better able to take care of those who you care about.

[Diarmuid smiles at Shion.]

That is the important thing, isn't it? Being strong enough ourselves to take care of those we care about?

[Shion nodded, being able to take care of those he cared about and not being a burden on them, that was why he was doing this] Thank you, I hope to be a good student.

I have every confidence you will be.

[Diarmuid nods out toward the party.]

However, this is a party and we shouldn't be talking of such serious things. There will be plenty of time for that later.

[He smiled and then it brightened and he nodded] Yes! Have you see Xion yet? [He knows they didn't get off to the best start, but also that things were better with them now.]

I did. She was the first one I found when I arrived.

[Diarmuid laughs, suddenly looking a little sheepish.]

I gave her some rather odd cookies as a gift. I know it isn't much, but I don't know her that well yet, and I didn't want to arrive empty handed.

[savedbyasong]

[Shion grinned] I am sure she will like them [Once she stops being embarrassed forever] It was nice of you to come [He was really glad that so many people had come to his little sisters birthday, proudest big brother.]

[oathshackledbird]

I am honored that you decided to include me in your celebration.

[He motions out toward the crowd.]

The Tower needs as many of these happy events as we can get in, especially as we draw closer to the end. We have to remind ourselves what we fight for and also remember to stop and enjoy those things we are fighting for.

[savedbyasong]

[Shion nodded] It is important. I know we need to learn and fight and survive, but if we do too much surviving and not enough living... [Well he had been brought up in a place devoid of many human connections and celebrations. He didn't want to live like that any more.]

[oathshackledbird]

That is exactly correct.

[Diarmuid gives Shion a proud look.]

And sadly, in a situation like we are in, it is far too easy for people to forget that.

[He blushes at that proud look] It is, that's why celebrations are important. To help us remember.

[The blush makes Diarmuid laugh softly.]

Right again and speaking of celebrations, I do not wish to keep you from enjoying this one. If there are others you would like to greet, feel free. I will be here for a while. We can talk more later.
