There is no way THAT fit in your trunk...
Characters: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (
oathshackledbird ) and you!
Setting: Room 4-16 (Closed prompt for Cu Chulainn,
puppy_lancer ) on the 25th, and anywhere in the Tower for the rest of the week.
Format:: Starting in prose, pick whatever you want after!
Summary: Cu Chulainn asked Zo for a gift for Diarmuid and was granted it. Now, he gets to give an old friend to his brother and maybe it will help mend the gap that has been between them ever since the fight with Sephiorth. Afterward, Diarmuid spends the week focusing on teaching Mac an Chuill the floors and dangers of the Tower.
Warnings: None at the moment, will update if needed!
Note: While Diarmuid will be focusing on training and getting the hound accustomed to being in the Tower, there will be plenty of time to sparring, monster hunting, and talking for anyone who runs into him.
Room 4-16, Nov 25th (Closed to Cu Chulainn):
Diarmuid frowns as he makes his way back to his room after a visit to the carnival. His brother had asked him to come and while they were slowly starting to act a little more normal around each other, Diarmuid is still uneasy. The loud noises coming from the room as he approaches don't help him feel any better about this meeting.
He pauses at the door to the room, before finally opening it only to see his brother fighting with a very large...dog?
His eyes grow wide as the dog, sensing his owner, wiggles away from Cu Chulainn and runs full speed at him. Before Diarmuid even has time to think about it, a sharp command in Ancient Gaelic bursts from his mouth. The dog comes to a stop so quickly he skids, dropping to sit near Diarmuid's feet. This causes Diarmuid to smile and he bends down to pat the dog on the head, muttering several soft words of praise before standing again and looking toward his brother.
"Brother? What is Mac an Chuill doing here?"
All over the Tower, Nov 25th to Nov 30th (Open):
Irish Wolfhounds have hunted and worked alongside their humans for a very long time. Mac an Chuill is an ancestor of those dogs, his line having done those things alongside Diarmuid's family for a very long time. In fact, the hound's sire had been one of the things Diarmuid reclaimed when he and Grainne were finally able to stop running and settle down. He had raised Mac an Chuill from a puppy and trained the dog as well.
However brave and loyal the hound is, though, the things he is facing in the Tower are much different than the things he faced in the woods of Ireland. While Diarmuid never held it against the hound for fleeing when the boar charged him--after all a curse was in play then--fleeing from a monster here in the Tower would likely get one or both of them killed.
That is why Diarmuid will be spending most of this week with the hound at his side, familiarizing him to the Tower and its many dangers. It will not be unusual to see him training the dog by fighting monsters, or showing him around the different floors. Always, the hound will be near him even though he is unleashed. Irish Wolfhounds are known for their loyalty and intelligence. Mac an Chuill is no exception and that is very clear in his eyes and manner. He is taking this just as seriously as Diarmuid is.
At the beginning of the week, Diarmuid will be around all floors, but after the 29th, he suddenly starts avoiding floors where powers are nullified. He will also seem more tense and uneasy than usual. Perhaps a spar or two will help work out that nervous energy? Or maybe a conversation will help get his mind off everything that has been going on?

Aw man. And I wanted to surprise you too.
[He gets up and dusts himself off.]
Happy Samhain, Brother. I got you your dog back.

[Mac an Chuill whines softly and Diarmuid reaches down to scratch the large dog's ears.]
But why? You didn't have to do something like that. I appreciate it more than I can say, but...
[...I don't really deserve it, do I? Diarmuid doesn't say the words out loud, but he can't help but think them.]
no subject
[He scratches his head.]
I didn't expect him to come so late...but hey, now that he's here, he can make up for...well...
[He trails off. After that conversation with Waver, he's started to think a little bit about how he might have been overly harsh with Diarmuid after the fight with Sephiroth. While he still has his doubts about the methods used, there's no doubt Diarmuid was working toward what he thought was the greater good.]

I think this is good for a thread end?
Sounds good!
29th - Floor 10 (Aquarium)
[Catching fish from the floating oceans on this floor has been a hit-or-miss activity, but not one that the cat has ever been dissuaded from. This would explain why the orange tabby has currently parked himself in front of a tank close to the floor's landing and is very intently watching for any minute movements in the water near his face. Surely one of those little twitching, slippery shapes will be a fish he can tackle...]
[The cat does not anticipate that there is a very large dog roaming this Tower nowadays. Methinks he's about to have a rude awakening there.]
Re: 29th - Floor 10 (Aquarium)
Diarmuid spots the orange tabby cat about two seconds after Mac an Chuill does. Immediately, his eyes widen since he knows that particular cat. The problem is Mac an Chuill does not. The hound wastes no time letting out a loud, excited bark before dashing after the cat.
The hunt is on and it's been a long time since he got to chase something...]

[With a quick puff of fur and sharp hiss, the cat is momentarily airborne before he is not there, skittering around the corner of the first tank with the intent to try and lose the terrifying canine pursuing him in the maze of others.]

Perhaps, it is time for another lesson. Thankfully for Edgeworth, Diarmuid doesn't repay failure with death.
Silently, Diarmuid's hands motion commands to Mac an Chuill and the hound seems to pick up on them at once. Much more silently than a dog that big should be able to move, he creeps up behind Edgeworth. Only once he is directly behind the man, does the dog stop and growl menacingly before barking just as loudly as he can.]

However, the growling does make him alert and turn around, and....]
2/2
What on earth? How did he get that animal here? From the administrators, maybe? And if he did, is it actually real?
Either way, the dog is growling at him. And, in Edgeworth's mind, if someone or something looks menacing, it's only polite to return the favour.
So he's going to start glaring at your dog, Dia.
Edgeworth doesn't dislike dogs - in fact, he owned one back home and is horribly emotionally attached to her. However, that doesn't stop him from being wary of ones who look like they are about to attack him.]

[There usually wasn't much out of the ordinary Waver often expected to see when walking into Diarmuid's room. So when he did as much today, it was very clear he couldn't have been more caught off guard.]
Diarmuid, I--whaaaat the hell is that.
[He'd just be staying very close to the door, thank you.]

It's a dog, Waver. What does it look like? Don't tell me you don't have dogs in the Clock Tower. Specifically, this is Mac an Chuill, my hunting hound. It seems my brother asked Zo if he would give him to me and he did.
[It is an amused gaze that meets Waver's own when Diarmuid looks up.]
Would you stop cowering in the door? I promise, he won't eat you.
no subject
[But he did at least walk in properly, frowning as he did.]
Hm. I didn't realize they could actually recreate other living creatures.

... Eh? [Very eloquent. But this is her first time seeing a dog like that, and she's being more cautious than anything else right now.] ... A... friend of yours, Diarmuid?
no subject
He is. My brother apparently put in a request to Zo to return my hunting hound to me, and Zo was kind enough to grant the request.
[He makes a motion with his hand and the dog sits near the piano bench, looking up at April.]
Would you like to pet him?
no subject
Ah, that was kind of him! Both Zo and your brother. [She nods, and then quickly blinks up at him.]
Um, yes, I would! [She looks at the dog, and holds a hand out for him to sniff; an old habit from interacting with dogs back home.] C-can I?

Quickly, with a smile shining on her face, Yotsuba ran up to the pair and tried to pet the little mutt, using her one free hand to hold her books.]
A doggy!~ Where did you get him, Dia?! Yotsuba hasn't seen any doggies or puppies here! Can I ride him?!
no subject
Such a smart boy...
[The words are whispered as Diarmuid crouches down near Yotsuba.]
My brother asked Zo to return him to me and he did. Wasn't that kind of him?
no subject
It was! Zo's a good Ad..Administrator, even if he messes up! Now he won't be lonely! And you can play with him!

[Diarmuid has been listening to Lelouch play quietly for several minutes, Mac an Chuill sitting calmly next to him. Only once the song ends, does he speak up. After all, it would be rude to interrupt.]
It has been a while. How are you settling in?
[They are a good match, aren't they, Lelouch? Puppy dog and Puppy Servant?]
