Characters: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (oathshackledbird ) and you!
Setting: Room 4-16 (Closed prompt for Cu Chulainn,puppy_lancer ) on the 25th, and anywhere in the Tower for the rest of the week.
Format:: Starting in prose, pick whatever you want after!
Summary: Cu Chulainn asked Zo for a gift for Diarmuid and was granted it. Now, he gets to give an old friend to his brother and maybe it will help mend the gap that has been between them ever since the fight with Sephiorth. Afterward, Diarmuid spends the week focusing on teaching Mac an Chuill the floors and dangers of the Tower.
Warnings: None at the moment, will update if needed!
Note: While Diarmuid will be focusing on training and getting the hound accustomed to being in the Tower, there will be plenty of time to sparring, monster hunting, and talking for anyone who runs into him.

Room 4-16, Nov 25th (Closed to Cu Chulainn):

Diarmuid frowns as he makes his way back to his room after a visit to the carnival. His brother had asked him to come and while they were slowly starting to act a little more normal around each other, Diarmuid is still uneasy. The loud noises coming from the room as he approaches don't help him feel any better about this meeting.

He pauses at the door to the room, before finally opening it only to see his brother fighting with a very large...dog?

His eyes grow wide as the dog, sensing his owner, wiggles away from Cu Chulainn and runs full speed at him. Before Diarmuid even has time to think about it, a sharp command in Ancient Gaelic bursts from his mouth. The dog comes to a stop so quickly he skids, dropping to sit near Diarmuid's feet. This causes Diarmuid to smile and he bends down to pat the dog on the head, muttering several soft words of praise before standing again and looking toward his brother.

"Brother? What is Mac an Chuill doing here?"


All over the Tower, Nov 25th to Nov 30th (Open):

Irish Wolfhounds have hunted and worked alongside their humans for a very long time. Mac an Chuill is an ancestor of those dogs, his line having done those things alongside Diarmuid's family for a very long time. In fact, the hound's sire had been one of the things Diarmuid reclaimed when he and Grainne were finally able to stop running and settle down. He had raised Mac an Chuill from a puppy and trained the dog as well.

However brave and loyal the hound is, though, the things he is facing in the Tower are much different than the things he faced in the woods of Ireland. While Diarmuid never held it against the hound for fleeing when the boar charged him--after all a curse was in play then--fleeing from a monster here in the Tower would likely get one or both of them killed.

That is why Diarmuid will be spending most of this week with the hound at his side, familiarizing him to the Tower and its many dangers. It will not be unusual to see him training the dog by fighting monsters, or showing him around the different floors. Always, the hound will be near him even though he is unleashed. Irish Wolfhounds are known for their loyalty and intelligence. Mac an Chuill is no exception and that is very clear in his eyes and manner. He is taking this just as seriously as Diarmuid is.

At the beginning of the week, Diarmuid will be around all floors, but after the 29th, he suddenly starts avoiding floors where powers are nullified. He will also seem more tense and uneasy than usual. Perhaps a spar or two will help work out that nervous energy? Or maybe a conversation will help get his mind off everything that has been going on?

26th November. Media room

[Nope, Edgeworth hasn't noticed you at all. He's busy in the Media room, having discovered a bunch of CDs and glancing at them quietly without noticing anyone who walks by. Because music from home is found here, he has found two particular CDs of interest. Both of them are "The Steel Samurai OST. Volumes 1 and 2."

Don't mind him and his closet fanboying.]

[Diarmuid frowns when he sees Edgeworth being so unaware of his surroundings. Shouldn't the man have learned to be more alert after what happened with the NeoShadows? Did he want to lose his life to monsters again so soon?

Perhaps, it is time for another lesson. Thankfully for Edgeworth, Diarmuid doesn't repay failure with death.

Silently, Diarmuid's hands motion commands to Mac an Chuill and the hound seems to pick up on them at once. Much more silently than a dog that big should be able to move, he creeps up behind Edgeworth. Only once he is directly behind the man, does the dog stop and growl menacingly before barking just as loudly as he can.]

[Oh, Edgeworth is usually aware of his surroundings. More so, thanks to that incident in September. But it's the Steel Samurai, dammit!

However, the growling does make him alert and turn around, and....]

[Wait.....it's only Diamuird.....and a dog?

What on earth? How did he get that animal here? From the administrators, maybe? And if he did, is it actually real?

Either way, the dog is growling at him. And, in Edgeworth's mind, if someone or something looks menacing, it's only polite to return the favour.

So he's going to start glaring at your dog, Dia.

Edgeworth doesn't dislike dogs - in fact, he owned one back home and is horribly emotionally attached to her. However, that doesn't stop him from being wary of ones who look like they are about to attack him.]

[When Edgeworth glares back--an aggressive action in the dog's eyes--his ears flatten against his head and the growl becomes more threatening. Honestly, Diarmuid is a little shocked at how foolish his roommate is being. Doesn't he realize the dog could easily kill him?]

Mac an Chuill!

[Better not give this the chance to escalate. Especially, since it's just suppose to be a joke. Diarmuid gives a sharp command in Ancient Gaelic after calling the dog's name. Mac an Chuill whines, though it is mixed with a growl, and that prompts Diarmuid to repeat the order, sterner this time. The dog whines again and then starts to back toward Diarmuid.

He never takes his eyes off Edgeworth, though.]

[Unfortunately, being a genius prosecutor doesn't make you smart all the time. Not only that, but, as a child, Edgeworth was taught by his mentor to glare at others to intimidate them. Sometimes he still does it to certain people to get the truth out of them but at other times, in this case especially, it was a force of habit. However, when Diarmuid tells the dog to be quiet, he relaxes a little and takes his eyes off Mac an Chuill, instead turning to Diarmuid, looking a little relieved.]

...Your dog, I presume? [Please get that thing AWAY FROM ME.]

[As soon as Edgeworth stops glaring at Mac an Chuill, the dog relaxes and becomes much less aggressive, though he is still wary. Without having to be told, he returns to Diarmuid's side, standing between him and Edgeworth.

Geez, one would almost think the dog was protecting Diarmuid from Edgeworth or something...]

He is. Mac an Chuill was my partner back when I lived the first time. My brother asked Zo to return him to me and he did. Edgeworth, I realize you probably haven't dealt with a lot of animals, but let me give you a piece of advice. The next time an animal is acting aggressively toward you, don't glare at it...unless you want it to attack, that is. Not all animals are as well trained as Mac an Chuill is.

[The fun will escalate if Edgeworth regains Pess.

Suddenly, Edgeworth remembers a particular home visit from his mentor. The moment Von Karma stepped into the room, Edgeworth's dog, Pess, started growling and baring her fangs. Von Karma glared at the dog, which made her growl even more. Eventually, Edgeworth had to lock Pess in the back rooms. It was an unpleasant experience, involving Von Karma asking his protege if he can look after a dog and making suggestions that she should be put down (although Von Karma was the only person Pess had ever growled at in her life).

Either way, it made Edgeworth wonder if he had made a reckless move, although…] Hm. Your uninformed observation has been duly taken into account. That said, I do admit that I should have been more careful.

You said that Lancer got that...[Thing] dog from Zo?

[Diarmuid rolls his eyes. Honestly, Edgeworth. Would it kill you to be civil once and a while?]

Yes, that is what I said. I had no idea you could get a living thing from the suggestion box, but apparently you can. At least, you can get a pet. I expect asking for a person would not be a good idea.

[Diarmuid reaches down to stroke the dog's head, and Mac and Chuill seems to relax a little more.]

I guess he's a soul in a film form like us? I really don't know how things work for pets. While I have heard of others having them, he is the first one I have actually run into.

[Awww but he enjoys being a dick to you. D:]

A soul in film, huh....? [Diarmuid is only 'guessing', though. If he's wrong, though, then, if Pess....

The thought of his dog being dead and a replacement coming gave Edgeworth a sickly feeling in his stomach...

No, he can't think about that now. It's not the time - they have so few months left and he cannot get the thought if his friends being dead get to him now.

.....At least he tries not to let it get to him.]

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

It is my best guess, but it is only a guess. Perhaps we will find out more as we find out more about ourselves. Until then, I will enjoy having him at my side again for at least a little while, quirks and all.

And don't worry. He is well trained. I will make sure he does not wreck our room.

[He almost adds 'anymore than my brother already does,' but refrains, a slight grin the only hint of the joke that passed his mind, but not his lips.]

[Enjoy having him in the meantime? Edgeworth doesn't really get that but....whatever floats your boat.

He notices that grin but thinks it's something else...] I hope by 'well-trained' you also mean that he is house-trained. [He doesn't care whether or not Celtic dogs get house-trained. There HAS to be some rules in the dorm.]

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at Edgeworth.]

I said he will not make a mess of the room and I mean it. Just because he and I both originate from ancient times, doesn't mean we are savages who cannot keep things clean.

[There is a slight cold tone in his voice. Diarmuid isn't sure if he should be insult or not. Edgeworth might want to watch his step.]

Hmm. [He seems to take the hint that his joke went too far. Either way, Edgeworth shuts up for now.] Anyway, I suppose I should tell Franziska to be careful with your dog [i.e.. Not whip it]

[The cold tone leaves his voice for the moment, but Diarmuid still sounds very stern.]

He would not react well to her brandishing a weapon at him whether she intends to use it as such or not.

If you care for her, you may wish to see to it she learns how to. There are many in this place who will take that kind of brandishing as all the excuse they need to kill.

[And it's Edgeworth's turn to raise an eyebrow.]

I have been in this hellhole for nearly a year. You think it wouldn't have occurred to me by now to warn my own sister of its dangers?

[It's okay, Diarmuid. Your roomie probably wouldn't have mentioned it to you anyway because it wouldn't have occurred to him to. He hates talking about himself and he wouldn't have mentioned that he had a sister until she arrived.]

You are the one who I just watched try to glare down an aggressive dog.

[Diarmuid crosses his arms over his chest, gaze never leaving Edgeworth's face.]

So, I don't know. Have you?

Edgeworth, there is nothing obvious about you. We might have shared a room for almost a year and worked together for many months, but I often feel I know nothing more about you now than I knew when we first met back in January. You keep things to yourself even when it might be better to share them for your own good and the good of others.

If you wish others to know something about you, then say it. For all our powers, very few people in the Tower are mind readers.
