Right. [She adjusts her grip on her staff and puts one hand on her hip.] Supposedly, Jason can't hear or see us right now, which is the only reason I'm not bothering to call him names. There will be time for that if we face him directly.

[She both does and doesn't hope they face him head-on.]

...but we should probably operate on the assumption that he can hear us, just to be safe. [Which meant coming up with individual backup plans and finding safe ways of sharing them. If something did go wrong and Jason did know what they were up to, they could still have the element of surprise on their side that way.]

[She can think of a few choice things she'd love to say to him, but those can wait for a face-to-face confrontation. Sheba gets a nod in response, it's probably best to not spill the beans on every plan that comes to mind the second she comes up with it then. nevermind that in maybe ten minutes time Zelda'll probably convince her everything is legit]

... the lack of power isn't going to make this any easier. [Especially with how damn cold it's probably going to get. Armor is good at deflecting blows, not the cold.]

We don't have power, but he doesn't, either.

[Granted, Jason's knowledge of the Tower in general far outstrips their own, but she's certain he'll have at least as small disadvantage. Jason spends most of his time down below; the rest of them actually live up here. They have numbers and - according to the broadcast - even some retrieval units. If all goes well that should level the playing field at least a little.]

I'm not scared of Jason. ...it's the retrieval units that really bother me. But, maybe we don't have to be as afraid of them now.

[The better not have hammers.]

[It's hard to predict how a straight fight with Jason might go, between not knowing exactly how many of them will be present and being unsure of his full capabilities. The retrieval units though...

... well hell, Amelia's never really had much in the way of dealings with them. Good chance to learn a bit about what they might be up against!]

This is as good a time to ask as any I suppose, have you fought one before? I've never actually confronted one directly.

...

[Sheba's expression tightens and she brings up a hand to fiddle with the collar of her tunic. The memory she's recalling clearly isn't a good one.] The first time I went down to the administrative levels... my team ended up in Jason's lab then, too. [She manages a weak smile.] Felix, Enoch, and a woman who isn't here anymore all made it out, but... they had deactivated my powers, and I'm no good in a fight without Psynergy. They had hammers. [Her hand trails down to rest at her chest - right where it had been smashed in so long ago.]

The second time I ran into them, with Dark Pit during the last infiltration, I just ran. They were slower... I think because Jason shut off the glamour down there. If they had caught us, I'm sure it would have been the first time all over again... just with their bare hands instead of hammers.

[... oh. It's obvious from the way Sheba reacts what the answer is, and Amelia's determined expression gives way to a small frown when she hears the details. She nearly cringes when she imagines what a warhammer to the chest probably did but her composure holds together, instead filing away that piece of information for later. So retrieval units sometimes use weapons... that's going to be problematic.]

... I see. They must be strong then...

[She's hesitant to make any promises. She knows her own limits, knows that in all likelyhood she's probably going to die before this is over. And more than that she can still remember how utterly useless she was when the shadow children were running all over the Tower, how she hadn't been able to protect anybody. Not even herself.

But giving up is not something she ever learned to do, and she's as determined as ever to give the Turks her all. To make up for her past failures. And when she speaks again there's a sense of conviction that wasn't there a second ago.]

As long as I'm still standing, I'm not going to let that happen.
