Summary: A hunting they will go because the kitchen could use more meat. Just ignore the pink snow.

They were set. The area around the staircase was filled with equipment and supplies for a day of hunting. There was food and drink in case they got hungry, makeshift weapons, bags, extra warm cloaks and even a really crude cart to haul things around on sat nearby. The cart was rough and wooden, and only had one set of wheels, but Reno found it sort of handy instead of hauling carcasses up the staircase.

Now all they had to do was go out into the floor and start tracking.

Least you don't have to actually butcher those things.

[But, there isn't anything. At least not anything he's about to share with Waver yet. Though if he's noticed something, Reno thinks it over briefly and settles on giving him something to work with instead of getting into a long discussion. And it's not entirely untrue, either.]

I know Diarmuid died in a hunting accident, and I saw the look on his face, but I kinda walk into it with him. I thought you two'd be better off if I went to take care of things so you could focus on him.

[Diarmuid follows his brother, helping to move the boar the best that he can. Once the reach the clearing, he kneels by the animal and pulls out one of his swords so that they can begin butchering it.]

How is she doing? We need to get together again soon. I haven't been able to see her as much as I would like to...

since everyone's off in two directions, should we split up the thread?

[Meanwhile, Lancer grabs his spear close to the head so he can start skinning the beast.]

I think she's doing fine. She was sorta disappointed when I told her I couldn't bring her. I'm definitely gonna need to take her on another trip.

[A pause.]

She's learning to ride stuff too. She says she wants to learn how to fight while riding on another warrior.

[Diarmuid shakes his head and laughs softly.]

Not a traditional mount, but then again, she is not a traditional fighter. We will have to take her on a hunt all her own soon.

[He works for a few moments quietly before speaking again.]

Brother, do you like Reno? Do you two get alone?

[puppy_lancer]

[He looks up at his brother, having cut the skin of the boar's body away from the skin of its head on one side.]

...Yeah, I like him just fine. And you like him even better, don't you?

My family...seems to be growing.

[Diarmid laughs again, slight embarrassment in the sound this time.]

He's having a hard time right now and he needs people to support him, to make him feel like he's part of something. I know that might be weird considering he's the leader of Ragnarok, but being part of a group and being part of family is different.

Can you help me with that? I guess what I'm really asking is if you would consider adopting him as a brother too?

[He takes a moment to consider it.]

Yeah, I think I can. Anyone who's your brother is my brother too.

How many brothers do I have now?

You, Suzaku, and Reno are the ones I call brother right now.

[Kariya had once been in that group, but Diarmuid has drifted so far away from the man, sadly, he doesn't think he counts any longer. Hopefully, Claudia and Lancelot are being the family he has not been able to be.]

Why...am I suddenly worried you are looking for others to help you pull one over on me...

[He gives his brother a mischievous grin.]

Oh come on. Just let me adopt someone into this group so I'm not the next to youngest.

What about Urotsuki? That way, I'll be right in the middle.

You aren't the youngest! If we go by order of adoption, you are the eldest besides me. Reno is the youngest. Tease him.

[Diarmuid winks at his brother, trying to ignore--for better or worse--how worried that mischievous smile makes him.]

However, I have no problems with adopting Urotsuki if she so wishes to be. She is wonderful.

Then I'll ask her when I see her next.

[He winks back at Diarmuid.]

Come on. Even if I'm the second oldest, I haven't adopted anybody yet. Except for you. Give me a turn at adopting already.

Hey, it's not like I ever said you couldn't adopt too. Instead, I might ask why you have been so slow about doing it!

[Diarmuid finishes separating the tucks from the boar's head and holds them out to his brother.]

What will you do with the second one?

[He takes one tusk and sets it aside, and then gets back to work pulling the boar's skin off.]

You keep it. You're the one most responsible for killing the boar. The tusks are supposed to be your prize.

[Continuing to fidget idly with his pendant, Waver scowled slightly.]

It actually didn't occur to me until right now that you're from a world without the same mythology as ours, so of course you wouldn't know. 'Accident' is...misleading.

[Reno gives Waver a look that is half resignation and half disbelief. Still, he can't fault the guy for all that he has on his mind to not realize it.]

He didn't give details, but I think I can figure it out. What happened back there was the Tower's own way of remindin' him, wasn't it?

That or astronomically bad luck. Either's a valid possibility.

[The scowl turned to a small frown, Waver glancing over his shoulder again.]

...He doesn't make a secret of his identity, so I can probably explain the circumstances if you want me to. You're our frie-...associate, so maybe you should know.

I already stepped in it when I invited him, I don't need to make the man more uncomfortable.

[Just knowing it had been in an hunting accident is enough. Diarmuid's reply had been short and to the point, so unlike the man himself, and Reno had only made things worse prying into it.]

But while we're out here, good opportunity to apologize. Y'know. For that bullshit I gave ya after that last tangle with Ganondorf. Can't say I was in a good place... but it isn't an excuse.

No...don't worry about it. With how I reacted after all that shit with Nyx and Sephiroth, I think we're pretty even.

[The topic was one that made Waver visibly uncomfortable, but if nothing else he was far from winding up to argue about things.]

[It's... as close as Reno can say to 'I know how you feel,' though it didn't match up perfectly.]
