Summary: Fighting Jason and other fun labyrinth activities.

Note: Most of this thread will be used for fighting Jason. Doing things in the labyrinth that are not fighting Jason is perfectly fine, just use the subthread here!

[Jason moves, when he's really running, something like a spider. Arms shift and twist over each other as he does so, though he never seems to get tripped up on them, and he's quick to respond to any sort of movement near him by keeping away with it. This time, it doesn't seem like he's looking for a fight. He's made it to the edge of the labyrinth, and he's feeling about for something, but whatever he's searching for he doesn't seem to be able to find it, and his frustration is obvious. If there's fear, he's hiding it beneath anger.

He still has his abilities, but he doesn't seem to be able to escape the labyrinth. And, considering everyone else in the labyrinth is alive, he doesn't seem to have his kill switch either.

R-r-rick, w-what are y-you...

[And then he's gone. And Veronica is left standing there. To put it bluntly, she linefaces.]

...D-damn it.

[It's a couple minutes later before Rick returns--now in the much more convenient form of the blonde man, standing awkwardly where Veronica left him. He looks pale and frightened and almost immediately panics about how long he's been gone.]

--V-Veronica?

[What if he attracted too much attention and got her killed? What if she left to look for him, and now he's alone? This is very distressing!]

[Of course, she could also have waited for him this entire time and be standing in the same place, which would make his alarm completely void and rather silly. This does not seem to stop him!]

[Obviously she stood around and waited for him to eventually return.

Unfortunately, she's standing behind him now.]

R-rick, w-what are y-you doing h-here?

[Despite the paranoia driving his anxiety to record levels, Rick's face is bright with a smile when he spins around at the sound of Veronica's voice.]

--Ah! [He prepares to stoop down and embrace her in a quick hug.] I--I w-was w--

[The word he's looking for is "worried," but he doesn't have the chance to say it before he is a dog again. Veronica should understand the sentiment regardless at this point.]

[Okay, that gets a bit of a laugh out of her, despite everything.

And of course, the dog gets a hug.] I-I didn't k-know you were here! H-how d-did you g-get in?

[Thump thump goes the dog's tail against the ground as he squirms and instinctively tries to lick Veronica's face. He's so happy you're okay! Watching those video feeds was so distressing, he never knew if you would come back when they switched to someone else...]

[...Worries aside, Veronica has asked a valid question. Rick whines plaintively; he'd like to answer, but obviously that function is a bit hindered at the moment. Maybe there's something for him to write with, or...?]

[Ug, blah, dog slobber. Honestly, Veronica was really happy he was here, but being a dog didn't help very much.

And unfortunately, there were not writing things around. Sucks to be him.]

I-I guess it doesn't matter r-right n-now. It's j-just... g-good to see you, Rick.

[The dog gives a single, happy bark. It's good to see you, too, Veronica! Now he can show you they way out!]

[Rick backs away, looking expectantly from Veronica to a point down the hall. He's fairly positive he knows the way back to the secret elevator...they'd better hurry!]

[Her gaze follows the dog, and she almost goes with him but...]

I-I can't go, R-rick. N-not j-just yet.

[By the time Rick realizes Veronica hasn't followed him, he is halfway down the hall and also a tiger again. This does not hinder the look of confusion that crosses his face--ears perked at attention, tail-tip twitching impatiently against the floor, it is obvious that he wants to leave and cannot understand why Veronica wouldn't feel the same. He demands an explanation!]

[...Politely, of course.]

[Oh. Getting the impatient parent stare from a tiger was new. Veronica breathed slowly and continued.]

Didn't y-you hear? J-Jason is in the l-labyrinth. W-we can finally k-kill him!

[The surprise of hearing how excited Veronica sounds about this is apparently enough to make Rick shift again--this time into a much smaller version of the feline facing her. He meows loudly and anxiously. That's exactly the reason why they should leave! Jason is incredibly dangerous--and the revival process that he oversees is an extremely delicate process! Even with all of the terrible things he's done, why is everyone so set on killing him?]

W-we have to try, R-rick! Especially a-after e-everything Jason h-has d-done! I-If we d-do this, w-we'll be r-rid of him f-forever!

[Because she's a bodyguard. It's her job to kill dangerous people.]

[The cat gives a quick shake of his head and pins his ears in fear. It's that "if" that makes him weary--that gnawing feeling that if they approach him, if they try to take him out, if they fail, Jason will make what remains of their lives a fresh hell the likes of which Rick never wants to imagine, let alone experience first-hand.]

[Worse yet, people might die for this. And if they succeed...they might not come back again. In either outcome, Rick can only see more pain and suffering, and he does not like it.]

[If only he could communicate this! The cat makes no sounds--just maintains an imploring stare, begging Veronica to see reason and leave with him.]

[Unfortunately for Rick, all Veronica saw was the chance to stop even more suffering. Even if she had to die for it.]

I-I'm... I'm sorry, R-rick, but I h-have to be here and at l-least help!

[Hesitant, she take a few steps away from Rick. She felt horrible doing it.]

[Rick's chest burns with a pang of panic as Veronica moves away. On instinct he takes a quick step forward--as if trying to cut her off, herd her in the right direction. But he seems to realize the futility of the gesture mid-step; not only is he not equipped to stop her, but it's not his place to interfere, anyways. This is what she thinks is most important...but is it really for the best? Is it reasonable for him to try and change her mind?]

[It takes a while for Rick to debate this; Veronica has plenty of time to make her escape in the meanwhile.]
