04. send my thoughts to far off destinations

Characters: Quark and open
Setting: All day March 9th, Dorm 1-12 and the first floor dorms, the cafeteria, library, and media room.
Format: Either, I'll follow.
Summary: Quark's just trying to have a nice day, keep himself busy and out of trouble. Feel free to join him; he wants to make some new friends! Just don't give him any kissing books to read, or kissing movies to watch.
Warnings: None for now.

Dorm 1-12/Dorm Floor 1, Morning

[Now that Quark has roommates, he's much quicker about getting out of bed. He tries to be quiet, because he wants to be courteous in case anyone else is still asleep, though he's not exactly an early riser himself. He used to be, when he was working all the time back home with his Grandpa, but he's had more than enough time now to break himself of that habit. In a manner of minutes he has the sleep rubbed from his eyes, his coat and hat situated, and is on his merry way to greet the day. Well, he still yawns groggily as he sways his way down the first floor. He can often be found stopping in front of doorways to read the names. Now that everything's all shuffled up and he's not all the way down on the fourth floor where they weren't very many people, he wants to get familiar with who his neighbors are, if only by name!

If he finds a door open and an individual awake, especially if it's someone he recognizes, he's likely to give a friendly little "good morning" wave.]

Cafeteria (Floor 1), Late Morning

[Once Quark felt suitably ready for breakfast, he made his way down to the Cafeteria through the elevator and made his way immediately for the food. In a matter of minutes he had a tray piled up with more chocolate chip pancakes than he could very likely fit into his tiny stomach, and a tall glass of chocolate milk. His Grandpa probably wouldn't have approved of wastefulness, or being so voluntarily unhealthy...but Quark was young and they looked far too delicious to pass up, especially after the previous month where the menu had been so unappealing.

As he takes a seat and begins to eat, he sighs. The chocolate is so yummy, but it's kind of sad that so many of the people he'd met in the Tower weren't around for him to enjoy the food with, anymore. Quark tries to cheer himself up as he swings his feet, which don't quite reach the ground, underneath the table. He'll just have to enjoy it for them! It was a good thing, in that case, that he had snagged so many pancakes.]

Library (Floor 3), Early Afternoon

[Way too full of pancakes, Quark decides to walk a little bit to help himself digest. Before too long, he's made his way to the third floor, where he remembers that, being a library, he needs to behave himself and be quiet. But it's such a big library, it seems like a good idea to walk around there for a little while instead of walking up and up the stairs. It's been a while since he's found any good books to read, especially with Darres (who had been helping him find stories), and it seems like a good idea as any to take his mind off of everything that happened last month.

There's still so, so much to learn, and Quark really does enjoy learning.]

Hmmm...

[Quark frowns as he chooses an aisle to stop on and starts methodically picking out interesting-looking books. Some of them are too complicated, others sound boring. He makes a face as he puts back a particularly tomantic-looking hardcover with a grimace. This is going to take forever.]

Media Room (Floor 14), Late Afternoon

[Eventually, Quark gets tired of reading. He takes a couple books with him and heads further up the stairs, where he makes the executive decision to step off into the media room. What better way to follow reading than to rot your mind with television? Humming pleasantly to himself, Quark claims a beanbag, which he drags over to a stack of disk cases and settles down to look through them. He's never heard of any of the titles, of course, not that he would have even if they were something he could actually find on his homeworld, not owning a real television or DVD player.

Should anyone approach him, however, he's likely to shove one of the aforementioned disk cases into his or her face with a chilidsh lack of subtlety.]

Hey, have you ever watched this one before? Did you like it? Is it good?

[Zelda sees the budding romance coming even before that hilltop kiss is shown, but remains indifferent to it. At least, until Quark makes his disinterest known, which is when she makes a rather undignified choking sound.

There seems to have been a misunderstanding somewhere along the line.]

You did not?

[But... it's in the title... okay, no, she can salvage this.]

Well, we have yet to see any nobility, so perhaps there is more to it than their romance. [Casually ignoring his question 'cause she doesn't even know.] See, he is going out to find his fortune, and--

[... And apparently he just got murdered by pirates, okay then. Thank the Goddesses Tetra isn't here.]
sageprincess: (Unbelievably bored)

[Hm, Creampuff shutting everything and everyone out after suffering loss does seem rather silly, doesn't it.

Well, with that minor crisis averted, Zelda settles back down to watch the movie in silence. Or at least, that is what she plans to do, and to her credit she manages to keep her initial distaste for this 'Prince Pumpernickel' to merely a sour expression. But when Creampuff rides out on her own and is subsequently captured, she cannot help a quiet sigh of frustration.]

Must it have been so easy for her to be captured?

[Zelda not everyone can be a ninja like you. Her small, tight-lipped frown remains as the odd trio discusses their plan to start a war, with the shortest of the three bossing the other two around on their ship in a most annoying manner. At least the swordsman and the giant are a bit less obnoxious.]
sageprincess: (Song of Storms)

In stories, yes, with alarming frequency. [Nevermind the fact she is currently locked in a tall tower, and has been in a similar situation before.] But to hold the title of Princess is to hold a great deal of responsibility for the care and welfare of the kingdom in question. It means caring for one's people before oneself.

[Oh, Quark, you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. And it's pretty much Zelda's fault, for never mentioning her own station to him before. Still, she speaks with a kind of conviction that might seem odd for an apparently objective discussion.]

I understand she is not exactly happy with her situation, but it is still very irresponsible to go gallivanting off alone like that.

[But oh! She's showing some initiative now and leaping off the boat while the others are distracted! Maybe she'll get better as time goes on...?]

[At first, Quark's words make her blink. So caught up in her criticism of Creampuff's behavior, she had entirely forgotten that she did not introduce herself as the Princess of Hyrule when she first met the boy.

Oops.]

Ah, yes, I am. The Princess of Hyrule, to be precise.

[She smiles down at him, though it's a tad awkward under that kind of incredible awe. She isn't under it long, fortunately, as the movie demands both of their attentions.

... Eels that feed on human flesh, huh. That's... uncomfortable. She distracts herself by checking on Quark when she notices him starting to tense up.]

Are you all right?
sageprincess: (Apologetic smiles)

no problem uwu

[Yeah, she sees his discomfort. She hesitates before doing so - it is not as though she is particularly close to the boy, despite what they've been through together - but... she does eventually reach her arm over and behind him, lightly touching his far shoulder in a way she hopes is comforting.

They aren't close, but he can't be far in age from Tetra, and she knows how shaking Dax's death alone had been for the girl.

That said, she is quick to go along with his change in topic, as the trio on screen seem to be bickering again on their way to and up the Heights of Lunacy.]

To be entirely fair to Creampuff, I am not what most would think of as the traditional sort of Princess. [Most Princesses don't slay their own monsters, for one, and that is without even touching the crossdressing thing.] But I imagine every world has their own expectations of what a Princess should be, and they are as varied as the worlds themselves.
