Characters: AU Eridan, OU Vriska, and Open!!
Setting: Somewhere in the tower, feel free to choose. He's travelling down the stairs for lunch.
Format: Either is fine.
Summary: Eridan is out and about. Meet him! Also Vriska is going to try to feed him to spidermom.
Warnings: Nothing yet. Eridan's foul mouth is certain to be found here.

[Hoarding food can only take you so far. Eridan's still not really talking much to his roommate, mostly because he's a bit resentful that Taiki took a flying leap off the tower with Eridan on his back. Stupid weird paranoid crying kid who claimed to fly but didn't even have wings and stupid Eridan for believing him and stupid tower for existing. He misses Feferi so much his wind tube hurts.

So anyway, he can't ask Taiki to bring him food anymore, so that means he has to go down to the cafeteria. But. He's not scared. Eridan Ampora doesn't get scared. He just doesn't want to have to deal with all this weird glubbing shit.

He is climbing down the stairs, head held high and a very 'come at me bro' look on his face. If anyone wants to give him shit for existing or something, he is so ready]

[Taiki is coming up the stairs and freezes when he sees his roomate. He had been actively avoiding him, only using his room for sleeping in and only because he started to feel ill after a few night of trying and failing to sleep in the corner of the library.

He bites his lip the moment he sees him, because its been weeks and he still hasn't apologised. He... he had never killed anyone before, he couldn't kill anybody not unless his king demanded it. But technically even though he had died as well it was his fault. He had made the decision and tried to fly away and take Eridan with him so it was his fault the troll had died.

Did that make him a murderer? Before he had chosen Gyousou, when he still couldn't transform he had began to doubt that he was even a Kirin and now... He knew that being a Kirin was just what he was, but he was not sure he deserved to be one. He had taken his roomate to his death and he had ordered Gohran to kill... Gohran had killed on Taiki's orders.

So he completely understood if his roomate never wanted to talk to him again, after all Taiki had been nothing but rude to him before taking him to his death. To make matters worse he couldn't find Keiki anywhere and he worried that his friend had disapeared for good.

Taiki realised he had been staring stock still on the stairs staring at the troll with wide eyes.] So...sorry.

[Eridan pauses to stare for a moment. Taiki hadn't really been rude, to his mind. But the nervous look was so different from the paranoid fear that Eridan had become so used to, that he could really see the difference now.]

Wwhat'd you say?

[Taiki shuffled his feet a bit, and wrapped himself further in the gigantic cloak he was wearing.]

Sorry... I'm really sorry... for being rude to you and... [His voice drops and he sounds like he is going to cry] For killing you...

[Eridan opens and closes his mouth a few times. In the back of his mind, he never really blamed Taiki, but it was easier to assume he did it on purpose.

His fins flush a little and droop. He'd been prepared to give the kid a piece of his mind if this ever came up. But instead he just goes and apologizes, and in the most sincere way Eridan has ever seen. No one has ever felt bad about doing something to him before. Definitely not this bad.

He looks down and away, rubbing the back of his neck]

Forget about it. All's forgivven.

[Taiki gave a tiny smile, he had not been expecting to be forgiven that quickly, he had made a really big mistake and hurt his roomate a lot. To just be forgiven was unexpected.] I... I will make it up to you [He smiled again nervously]

...Yeah? [This has possibilities, and he perks up a little] Howw wwill you do that?

Erm... [Taiki shuffled his feet and clutched the cloak to him like a life line] I could do something for you... whatever you want me to do. Anything at all.

[A pause before he adds] As long as it doesn't involve hurting other... Not that... Sorry not that I think you would want to hurt others... But... I can't...

Anything? [He stares at Taiki, a bit nonplussed.] Could you givve me one of those demons wwho protect you?

[Taiki blinked in surprise, give him one of his shirei? Eridan wasn't a Kirin, he couldn't make a contract with them... Taiki guessed though if he asked Gohran to look after Eridan, that would sort of be the same thing...]

I'll ask. Gohran? [All of a sudden there was a giant red wolf stood next to them]

Gohran, could you... could you protect Eridan for me? Stay with him and make sure he is safe.

[Gohran was silent for a moment before shaking his head]

He is not your king Taiki. I am bound to protect you and your king, no one else. If I protect Eridan I cannot protect you and that will be against our contract. [He disapeared back into the shadows.

Taiki shuffled his feet] Sorry... I guess just anything that I can do myself...

[Well, that was disappointing. For a moment, Eridan was pretty excited. What if he could have that big red wolf protecting HIM instead of the kid. He wouldn't have anything to fear at all! But of course he couldn't be so lucky. These monsters had minds of their own, apparently, and Taiki didn't actually have total control over them.]

Seems to me you'vve got to establish your authority ovver your protectors, actually.

[He sniffs derisively, then gives Taiki a look. What in hell could this little thing do for him, anyway? He's pretty small and weak and useless. But then he has an idea.]

Wwell, I guess you'll just havve to run errands for me, then. You can bring me food, and carry messages, that kind a thing. All right?

[Taiki appreciated his protectors advice, they were the closest he had to people who knew what they were doing. He had never really had much authority over them, apart from Gohran's contract with him.

If only he knew what Eridan was thinking, because he was thinking about the same thing, what could he do for Eridan when he was so small and weak and helpless. He nodded at the sugestion though and gave a tiny smile.]

All right! I can do that.

[Eridan's eyes widen fractionally, and then he grins. Wow, that was easy. He pats Taiki on the head]

Good, then. Wwe'vve got an arrangement.

[Taiki's smile gets brighter] I'm glad.

[Headpat turns to ruffle] Wwell, so am I.

[He smiles as long as the ruffling hand goes no where near his forhead.] What are you doing now Eridan?

[If he could see a horn, he'd avoid it, but the ruffling doesn't go on too long, anyway. He drops his hand and shrugs] Just makin' my wway down to havve a bit a food.

[If hair ruffling becomes a common thing Taiki might warn him about the horn, maybe, if he feels confident enough to] Can...I come with you?

Sure, wwhy not? You can go wwherevver you wwant. [Pause] You mean wwith me?

[And at that all his nerves come back and he looks down shuffling his feet] Sorry...only if you want me to... I can... just go... if you want... sorry...

[He can barely believe there is something in the universe more pathetic and alone than he is. He smiles and reaches out, resting a hand on his shoulder]

Come on. I didn't say I didn't wwant to.

[Taiki gives a nervous smile again, really this friendship thing- as strange as this particular one is- is completely new to him so he's going to be pathetic and worried for a long time.]

If you're sure... [He starts to follow though, still smiling]

You'll nevver get anywwhere in life bein' so self-effacin'. [Life lessons from Eridan Ampora.] You gotta take wwhat you wwant, not just cringe around like you're just askin' people to vvictimize you. No one'll givve you anythin' if you're gonna act like that. They'll just take wwhat they can get.

[Life lessons from Eridan, he is honoured! Of course he's also Taiki so he takes it as him pointing out his failings] Sorry... I will try better... I don't like to annoy people but apparantly... trying not to be annoying is annoying to people... [Thank you Santana! He tries to keep smiling though.]

Yeah, sure it's annoyin'. [Eridan and Santana have something in common - being insensitive douchebags] Because it's like you're just expectin' people to bend to wwhat you need, wwithout evven tellin' them wwhat it is, and like they should feel guilty for kickin' you on account of you bein' so wweak and defenseless.

[He pauses to think about this for a moment] But then again, if you really are so wweak, wwhich I think you pretty much are, then bein' strong isn't the answwer. You gotta find some people wwho're wwillin' to protect you in exchange for servvices, probably.

[Taiki looked like he was wanting to cry again, he didn't understand things here at all. It was like when he was on earth, his whole life and never fit in. It had all made sense when he had went to the Twelve Kingdoms, mostly. But now he didn't understand anything again.]

I don't want people to feel guilty... I don't expect anything... [And he really didn't, he was just trying to be polite. People were complicated]

I guess you're right... I am really weak and useless... [He's really not, remember that huge wolf shapeshifting demon Eridan? No Kirin in known history has been able to bind such a demon, until Taiki who did it through a mixture of will power, stubborness and a staring match that lasted more than half a day. He just has no self confidence...]

You mean like my Shirei? They protect me in exchange for a service...
