[And here's some of the guilt. Xion's voice is mostly flat, though someone who knows her well might be able to hear the frustration underneath it.]

Yeah. She did. We didn't... we didn't even realize she could've still... the light outside is what killed him, but she still went down there.

[And in turn, here's most of the abrasiveness gone - he might not be able to hear the frustration, exactly, but Asch can tell when she's being hard on herself, and it's not his intention to be any worse on her.]

You did the best you could. It's not like you could have known that wouldn't stop her.

I guess not.

[She's not entirely convinced. Then again after what just happened she's not in a great emotional state in general, and Ruana's forced unconsciousness did little to actually help her rest, which was generally good for dealing with such things.]

I guess just... what do we do now?

Not much we can do except wait.

[For the ticking clock to run out, for Ruana to come gloat - whatever it is that happens. The bitterness is full force in Asch's voice.]

[Xion makes an unhappy, noncommittal noise. She doesn't like sitting here waiting. She doesn't like that clock. She doesn't like being stuck in this small space.]

Asch, are your powers not working too?

My hyperresonance hasn't worked since the fluid changeover.

[Deadpan, but he's still grumpy about that.]

But the rest, no. I can't even feel the fonons in the air.

[Which never stops being weird, because for him that's like saying, 'I can't feel that the water is wet.' Even if they're sparse throughout the Tower they're there, by definition.]

[Xion looks down.]

That's what I was afraid of.

[Her voice is quieter, just enough that he should be able to hear it though not much more.]

Mine aren't either. I need to heal... but I can't.

[Luckily power nerfs don't have an impact on that excellent hearing, so he can tell what she's saying just fine.]

What kind of injury?

[That's his soldier-on-duty voice. Not everyone had access to healing, so sometimes you have to make do with whatever you can get.]

[Well he'd picked up on that fast.]

I'm not sure.

It's... my leg though. I'm not sure I can fight with it now.

[Why else would she need healing in a contained cell?

Can you move it? Is it broken? What part of the leg?

Around the knee... and I can move it.

[She was able to stand earlier, with Riku's help]

So I don't think it's broken.

[She doesn't know that much about the difference between breaks and sprains and dislocations and the like, but she's pretty sure about that at least]

But it won't support your weight.

[Not really a question, though he'll pause for her to correct him if that's not the case.]

Probably a sprain. Do you have anything you can brace it with?

[Probably not but it doesn't hurt to ask.]

It can a little... but not a lot.

I'm... not sure. What sort of thing would I need?

[What is first aid when you have healing magic and a brother who knows it better than you.]

Something solid that will hold it in a single position.

[Yeah, well, some of us are geniuses who never learned our world's healing magic anyway.]

If you have any extra clothes you can wrap around the joint to keep pressure on it, that will help, too.
