Regret isn't even in his goddamn vocabulary.]
That doesn't really answer the question.
[Guys don't make me get Xion.]

Given the point of what everyone's been aiming at, it ought to answer enough.
[AKA what the hell do you think happened, Asch.]

I'd assume that if you regretted it, you'd be bellyaching over it somehow.
[Look who woke up on the wrong side of the timer.]
I'd assume that anyone who acts at this point realizes that there's no time for regretting what you do.

Hn. Sad to say, you'd probably assume wrong.
[Even with the world going to hell, there is always room to regret something. This Riku doesn't, not now at least, but he knows the feeling, and he knows exactly just who might likely be battling with that right now, but that isn't any of Asch's business.
Mental note to assess his double's state of mind and set him straight as needed goes here though.]
But I agree on the principle.
[He can give Asch that much.]

People always manage to surprise me, unfortunately.
[Example A is Enoch over there good lord. How do you idealist that hard. How.
But yeah, the point stands.]
I just don't see the point. Save it for after you've given up.

Nature of the beast, I think.
[Riku lost any hope for Enoch when he figured it a good idea to team up with Ganondorf.
The man is likable enough, but there is a line where idealism and total trustworthiness don't really go hand in hand anymore. Anyway.]
Giving up is for the dead.
[He's pretty much told Ruana as much and he stands by it.]

or anything up to the second comment, really. The second comment, though, gets one of those rare Asch smiles - the sort that don't mean anything particularly good for anyone in the vicinity, and that includes Asch himself.]
That's exactly the point.
[Give up when you're dead, and regret when you're dead. Or trapped in your dead homeworld unable to actually die, because that's still a valid possibility at this point.]
